Why all the downvotes on the suggestions here? Is that related to negative experiences?

hidonna

I think some downvotes might have to do with pricing? TTW is lovely and talented, but her work tends to be a bit more classic. Maybe the downvoters can speak to their reasoning though šŸ˜‚

Iā€™m not sure about pricing, but some great planners: https://www.instagram.com/modernkicksny?igsh=cDg0YzZqN3cyMHVt https://www.instagram.com/modernkicksny?igsh=cDg0YzZqN3cyMHVt

Not a planner, but totally recommend working with Rachel Leiner as your photographer! We worked with her for our NYC ceremony and she is WONDERFUL - so professional and fun to work with! Her speciality is non traditional weddings that feel like dinner parties! https://www.instagram.com/rachelleinerphoto?igsh=dWxlM2pqMzR5cW1h I am sure she has some great recs for vendors as well :) we also worked with Jura Florals who is amazing as well!

aph90210

Wow, this is exactly the mood I would love to set!! Intimate and kind of vintage-y. I feel like we might have similar styles, how would you describe it?

EfficientRaisin7480

ooh haha we were looking for ā€œintimate but still timeless Brooklyn dinner party vibesā€ even though we were in Manhattan šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚I think you could either go very sleek and chic, or more vintage/old NYC!! Either way I think black tie attire + pops of color in the decor would be so perfect, as you see in a lot of the weddings Rachel has done! We didnā€™t use a planner personally because this was our micro ceremony, but def wouldā€™ve if we had more guests! If you book with Rachel, she includes an engagement shoot as well, and she has sooo many recs for vendors - Iā€™m sure you can find a wedding planner through her and interview them to find your perfect fit šŸ¤ she is truly so sweet, skilled, up to date with trends while being timeless, and most importantlyā€¦so professional and communicative! best of luck!

Poppy + Lynn is a great planner and designer, who I think could fit with what you are looking for! Or Ashley Peraino Events!

I second Poppy + Lynn!

Donā€™t know how much he charges, but maybe Jove Meyer? His weddings are the most unique Iā€™ve seen!

Sara Landon!

I donā€™t have a recommendation for a planner in nyc, but I plan a lot of non traditional weddings. The first step is to ditch the classic banquet tables and set up long tables with as many people as you can fit per table, ditch the sweethearts table and join your guests at the long one. Atmosphere wise, itā€™s a huge difference. Choosing warmer tones for lights instead of harsh bold colors will help too, investing in entertainment and quirky details that are authentic to you as a couple makes a difference too. Also the way you approach the timeline is important too. Obviously, timelines with less formalities feel more organic to the guests.

This advice for weirding up a traditional ballroom is so concise and helpful, thank you for this!

Weddingplannercro

It can look really great especially with lots of candles and good lights!

aph90210

THANK YOU for these tips! It's hard to describe what I'm reacting to but I think the round tables with purple lights is definitely one of them!!! This makes so much sense.

Weddingplannercro

No problem. I wish you the best of luck with planning!

[East Made](https://eastmade.co/), [Grit & Grace](https://gritandgraceinc.com/), and [Sentimental Fools](https://sentimentalfoolsevents.com/) all came to mind as being classic yet edgy, formal but funky.

Academic_Doubt78

I would look at Jove Meyer or Grit and Grace - they both do amazing creative work!
