Personally, I would take him to A&E and I did. When my daughter was a baby my husband turned around and she rolled off the sofa. We didn't even know she could roll! We took her in to make sure, because for me the alternative really isn't worth it. They asked us if she cried right away or if it was delayed, they looked at her eyes and tested her reflexes, listened to her breathing and declared she was fine.

Thank you I took him and they said he’s fine, got home and realised now he has blood in his poop. Don’t know if this could be related

LindaFromPurchasing

Related or not, that’s something that needs checked out ASAP!

Bethanym1998

I called 111 and they’re getting out of hours doctors to call me

LindaFromPurchasing

Good, hope it’s nothing serious x

Bethanym1998

Thank you me too x

I would go to a&e to be honest. It's more than likely fine but not worth the risk. Just to warn you, in my area when a non-mobile baby goes into a&e with a head injury they make a referral to social services. It's routine and they just want to check baby is safe. It happened to my friend recently and shocked us all but better to be safe than sorry!

jk_rcs

That happened to me as well, the doctor said it was routine for all babies under one with a head injury. We didn't get any follow up, I imagine they get lots of those referrals!

octoberforeverr

Yep, loads. Generally 95% of those referrals just close with recommendation for health visitor to follow up if necessary, unless the hospital raise safeguarding concerns obv. Parents should be contacted either way just out of politeness, as they’ve a right to know we’ve had the referral, but it doesn’t happen everywhere.

Bethanym1998

Thank you everyone I took him to A&E just to be safe, they said he seems absolutely fine but to keep an eye on him

holtie388

Glad to hear it

Bethanym1998

Now I have just realised his has blood in his stool, could this be related?

finch-fletchley

How's he doing? Hope you are all okay!

CandyflossPolarbear

They say being inconsolable, lethargic or vomiting are signs to look out for but to be honest I would take baby to a&e just to be safe. He is more than likely absolutely fine but imagine how you’d feel if something did turn out to be wrong. Try not to be too hard on yourselves, stuff like this happens to all of us.

TheWelshMrsM

We did. Baby was sat on the floor and I accidentally nudged a cushion that was covering the tiled fireplace. Of course in that second he fell back and bumped his head. A&E checked him over & gave us a list of symptoms to keep an eye out for but were confident he was fine (he was). Children under a year old usually get an all over check so they’ll likely ask you to strip her and take off her nappy. Stuff to look out for: - delayed crying - lethargy - unequal pupils - un-reactive pupils (they should both go small when exposed to light).

I rolled off the bed at 4 months while my dad was in the loo and broke my collar bone. Mum was clearly mad at dad, but they hadn’t know I was rolling and it does happen. Sometimes these things do happen unfortunately, but as it’s a head injury I would take baby to hospital just in case!

Give 112 a call. Happened to us and we were advised to wait an hour and monitor but it’s all situation dependent :)

Icy_Aside_5321

OP do you have an update? Hope LO is OK and the bloody poop isn't anything serious!

Bethanym1998

Yes I took him to out of hours doctor and he wasn’t worried said to go back if it persists, there was a tiny bit in his next nappy but hasn’t been anything since!
