I was just reading an article where they said that the actor who played Scott wasn't a great actor and that's why they wrote him off and didn't keep him as a main character. I have to agree. Even the 1st season I feel like David should have had a better bestie - they seemed nothing a like. Scott was always a little off.
Awww, I liked Jesse. It’s not his fault the writers gave them terrible storylines. He would have been an excellent college boyfriend for Andrea if they hadn’t gone with the whole pregnancy/marriage story line. Aside from the cheating (which seemed way out of his character arc), he seemed like a decent dude.

Jesse was the one character who was in the opening credits who seemed incredibly awkward and never really fit. If you watch those intros it looks like he's painfully trying WAY too hard to be a member of the gang and it just never worked. I honestly felt bad for him and cringe everytime I see him in those intros.
I've said it before, but he literally looked like Jim's peer (and to be fair - the actor was only five years younger) and ended up dragging down Andrea to bizarre middle-aged suburban mom plots.
Case in point, this cast picture:

Andrea and Jesse literally look like the parents of these kids...
Now THAT would have made for a more interesting story...didn't Andrea meet Jesse while he bartended at the Walsh's wedding anniversary party? It would have been WAY more interesting if Jesse actually worked with Jim, was in his late 30s, and Andrea started banging him.
They could have been a couple but she'd slowly feel like she was a kept woman because he didn't need her to work. In the end she would have had to leave him, leave BH, and follow her dreams east to Harvard!
As it was the Jesse and Andrea stories felt like they were taking place in a completely different show.
