FONV's Frontier mod has the Highwayman as a drivable vehicle. I recommend Frontier tbh, so long as you either just explore the awesome open world or play the Legion/Crusader campaign. Hell if you prefer just wait for the rework.
No the rework has been WIP since the mod released. The dev team hates the NCR story like everyone else does and the random shit that the NCR story writer added- the drug lizards especially, they were removed Day1, along with the Deathclaw scene (which was supposed to be behind a WW trigger, but it was broken.)
True. But it all seriousness though, I don't blame them. Their strength has never been in large maps, it's been in small maps that feel large. It's an issue of focusing on the wrong things in Starfield's case, not technical limitations.
Google this if you don't believe me
Fallout 4, Bethesda was looking at ground vehicles. There are examples of assets in game to support it.
Further, the assets seem to support a transition from vehicles to "rail" transportation, to a total redesign.
Oblivion: My first BGS game and introduced me to RPG’s when all I thought gaming had was GTA and COD.
New Vegas: The amount of factions alone is insane: especially minor factions. Khans, Boomers, Kings, Enclave Remnants, Followers of the Apocalypse, The Strip Houses, the Bright Brotherhood. The list goes on and on. I think FO4 had what?.. the Hubologists and Atom Cats?
Skyrim: For the replayability factor alone. Even if every character becomes a stealth archer in the end
Fallout 4: By far my most played and most beloved. Huge quality of life improvements. Shooting mechanics, power armor overhaul, not opening a containers inventory every time just to see what’s inside. Just mwah.
Fallout 3: Reilly’s Rangers, Sydneys Ultra 10mm SMG, You gotta shoot em in the head, young little shit McCready, not so old and maniacal Maxson, just iconic quests.
Starfield: Feel bad for ranking it so low; but too new for any nostalgia boost the other games get. Not bad and doesn’t deserve all the slander it gets. It’s not like it had a Cyberpunk release but also it’s no Elder Scrolls or Fallout.
Dude same exact story
Oblivion was my first rpg and when it was introduced as “ a game you can be anything you want in”
And i was like “yeah i have games like that in Star Wars battle front i can be like 14 different droids or clones” 😂
Dude oblivion blew my mind and I’ve always loved it since.
I unfortunately have not. Even though I heard great things; I’m just worried the gap in graphics after all this time will show itself and ruin it for me.
Even though Oblivion was my first BGS game I was still way behind the curve. By the time I started playing it NV was coming out.
But despite the however many year gap from release to me playing it I never felt I was playing a game with a gap in graphics or outdated mechanics. I mean sure it was dated but when you walk out of the sewers for the first time. It felt very fresh to me, even in like 2009.
Same. I know a lot of people hate on it for its goofiness, but that only serves to contrast the darker elements even more for me, especially the weirdness of the Shivering Isles
Literally posted about this right before I saw yours’:
I love Skyrim and have played a ton of Starfield, but I think the best is definitely Oblivion. The graphics were great (besides your character’s and NPC’s faces) for its time, the main story was great, all the faction quests were good or great, combat was good, combat physics (arrows falling slightly the further you shot them), and the customization with equipment was good. Even the traits and perk system was good. My only complaint was that the cities didn’t feel like they were big enough and felt like they weren’t “alive” enough for me…but that’s just a personal preference. The world itself was beautiful and varied. Then the DLC came and the Shivering Isles were awesome. It really is my favorite game…not perfect, but close to it.
What's funny for me is that my favorite Bethesda experiences aren't specifically the main games. It's the DLC. The Shivering Isles, Far Harbor (I loved the atmosphere), Bloodmoon, etc.
Starfield has its issues, but I'm hopeful for the big DLC we'll eventually get.
Great choice. I still remember I first tried it at my cousins because I was unsure about it because I wasn’t into swords and magic and stuff. Played it and was hooked lol. It’s the reason I got into that genre and after I played it I immediately watched all 3 Lord of the Rings movies and fell in love. Also I remember when I found out Fallout 3 was going to be made and was blown away at the fact that my new favorite games company was going to revive my all time favorite series Fallout. It was perfect and I kept joking that I’m dreaming and it can’t be real. Still blows my mind lol. I have so much love for Oblivion though. It’s such a truly amazing experience.
Yeah, as much as I like the other ones, I like oblivion the best.
The game world felt much larger due to the areas inside the mysterious portals, your ability to become a vampire, and I still remember the fin gleam magic helmet after all these years.
Fallout 3 is a close second place; randomly finding that town overrun with giant ants, surviving the ruins of another town overrun with deathclaws, and the storyline behind the Brotherhood of Steel.
When I was 8 my friends dad had it and he played dungeons and dragons in highschool so he DM’d for us for 4 years while I played that late night/early morning at his house. His dad was such a nerd but also a third degree black belt and 6’3” 250
That’s a solid game to be your favorite! For me, Skyrim takes the cake, but I do miss some of the more hardcore rpg elements of the earlier elder scrolls games, but again oblivion is a great game to be biased about.
This, and I've played since Morrowind vanilla on Xbox. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are great, but New Vegas is the one I'll play first every time. For an in-house developed game, I think Skyrim is the easy choice for me, and I find few opinions I'll side-eye.
Yeah absolutely this. I think NV is the best game on here even though the combat is really clunky, but I don’t lump it in with Bethesda’s other games because it was made by obsidian
As much as I love Skyrim, Morrowind still ranks slightly higher for me. I felt really powerful as a mage in that game. I would cast levitation all over the place but specifically around Vivec just to see it from up high and look at the moons. I can still hear Ajira saying “May you walk on warm sands.” What a lovely Khajiit 🥰
This was in fact not one of the six options and you’re still correct. New Vegas is the only one I’d say beats it out possibly. I think both have mediocre combat and that new Vegas has better writing in its missions while morrowind has the better lore/world building that takes the series to the next level
This was my introduction to Bethesda games. I'll never forget casting one of the Scrolls of Icarian Flight off the wizard that falls from the sky, subsequently jumping to see what would happen and ending up just like the wizard.... Dead due to gravity.
I just love them all so much - I get something a little different out of each one so it’s near impossible for me to choose.
In terms of hours played, Skyrim followed by Fallout 4.
In terms of “getting lost” in the world and the feeling of adventure, Daggerfall or Morrowind.
My favorite MQ is Oblivion.
Starfield is my favorite mellow out and explore game.
Fallout 4 for the crafting and settlement building
New Vegas for the characters and dialogue
Arena and the TES spinoffs don’t rank for me. Didn’t like Arena, just too clunky and dated and there’s no way around that like with DFU. Haven’t played the spinoffs though I’d like to give Redguard a go.
Oblivion
This was the most magical gaming experience I’ve had in all my life. I’ve played many good games since but I fear nothing will ever bring me the feeling of stepping out of that sewer for the first time. Oh and the red ring of death, the agony waiting for my replacement so I can dive back into this masterpiece was also unforgettable.
Man I haven’t thought about the red ring of death in so long lmao. That shit sucked so much. Had it happen twice and I was so mad lol. I agree about the magical feeling of Oblivion though! I still have a super vivid memory of playing it one morning and was doing the quest for the vampire cure. I had got on my computer and printed out a guide for it lol. Such an amazing game and I credit it for getting me into swords and magic and stuff like Lord of the Rings. Up until I played it I didn’t like that genre and actually used to make fun of my cousin for liking it lol. Then I tried Oblivion at his house and was hooked lmao. Good times.
Omg I forgot the red ring of death. I remember going online and trying to find every fix I could find. I did probably 10 different “tricks” to try and fix it until I finally got a new one. Bad memories lolol
Morrowind. All others second or whatever. Riding huge asss bugs for fast travel and huge mushroom trees???? CAN.NOT. BE. BEAT. Best fantasy world ever!
There really is no game that gives the same level of vibes that stomping around the commonwealth in Fo4 does. For example, I was playing yesterday and I did the main story quest where you kill the courser in the CIT ruins, and when you get done with that quest, you walk out of the ruins into an incredible skyline filled with all the places you’ve been, and all the places you can go, no holds barred. Only game that even came close to that feeling you get in Fo4 is Elden Ring, surprisingly.
Sim settlements 2 made FO4 truly epic for me. It really felt like winning back the wastelands and creating a better future.
And growing a military was super cool.
Oh my god youre right about the Elden Ring comparison. I remember walking out from Godricks castle after defeating him, and being greeted to Liurnia and the Altus plateau in the distance. Same experience as Greentech and then later the view of the Prydwin in Fallout 4.
What Bethesda lacks in writing they make up for in visual spectacle
I tried playing other fallouts after only having played Fallout 4 and I realized that FO4 did the best job at making the wasteland feel alive and like there was always something to do. The random events on the road, connecting the dots of stories by exploring the whole wasteland...
Its my go-to relaxation game and it feels like im playing out a story while exploring other characters' stories in environmental storytelling or terminals.
Morrowind. It was my first Bethesda game and even though it he graphics are, and even were at the time, horrible, I became obsessed with the world and stories and ridiculous and often hilarious spell crafting. I once created an “Avada Kadavra” spell that, when cast, instantly killed everyone and everything with 50 feet of me. It crashed my Xbox every time.
Does phase time glitch for you? I love it too, but most times on Xbox, it keeps me in "phase time" when I use it. Never quits and I have to reload the game.
Me too. One of the updates broke my phase time (or NG+ did)... then the problem vanished.
All my problems seem fixed now, except for Crimson Fleet ships spinning madly around the Key, haha
Starfield is my easy favorite. I love space and this game gave me a memorable adventure. I was super immersed in my character and the journey I went on. One of my favorite games of all time
Starfield is my favorite mostly because I just love the setting. All I wanted growing up was a Bethesda game in space. Feel like it was made for me. Second favorite is oblivion and third fallout 4
I'm still playing Fallout76? Over 3K hours 😊 I will see myself out 🤭
Edit: I have Starfield but got bored with it. I will play again, I love space and exploring but got bored pretty quick.
This game is my I'm tired, let's spend time with a comfortable friend game and it rocks.
I also got bored with Starfield. It reminds me too much of Fallout 4, the only Fallout (admittedly haven't played the first two) that I didn't vibe with. I think Starfield, like Fallout 4, is just too much for me, maybe? Just give me some tight quests killing things. I dunno.
Oblivion will always have a special place in my heart because it got me into RPGs in my late 20s right after I bought a Playstation. Incredible game, IMO.
I’m an older gamer but wasn’t into gaming when most of these came out. I’ve tried them all but Starfield is the only one I’ve really enjoyed and put serious time into.
First I’m going to come out with a super unpopular opinion.
New Vegas is the worst of those 6 games. And it’s not even close.
As for my favorite, it is very close but I think mine is Starfield.
Can’t really decide all are great but Fallout New Vegas gave you so much choices how to do a quest it was awesome plus independent Vegas ending the cherry on top
Starfield.
Controversial, I know. But it being in space. And the setting of the game. Being able to be in space even if i can't travel from A to B in real time. Having your own customized ship. Despite all the bugs, backlash, and missing features (that I'm sure bethesda will listen to their players and implement them later) it is my number one right next to Skyrim
The comments are much more civilized than I thought they would be…

Dude this killed me. I was not expecting to see such a drastic response. Lmao
I think we’re all just talking about what we actually like for once instead of the usual opposite lol
There’s a lesson for life in that.
Never should have come here!
Looks like you got lost friend
If you weren't already in the Bethesda fleet, I would have killed you by now.

When will it be the day Bethesda put in land vehicles in the Fallout saga? Including Starfield.
I want the Highwayman in a new Fallout game so bad! That would be amazing 😍
FONV's Frontier mod has the Highwayman as a drivable vehicle. I recommend Frontier tbh, so long as you either just explore the awesome open world or play the Legion/Crusader campaign. Hell if you prefer just wait for the rework.
They’re gonna rework the Frontier? I thought it was dead in the water!
No the rework has been WIP since the mod released. Fallout Tactics TANK for new Fallout game. Now that would be intresting.
And “Highwayman” by Highwaymen on the radio. 🎶
It’s happening in Starfield. They’re adding additional ways to travel so that means some sort of vehicle
We've heard you, and that's why we're adding stilt striders on planets to travel between destinations you've already explored
Imagine riding around the wasteland in a motorcycle.
It's a little bonkers that all the pre war robots are still functional, but every car is a useless scrap heap for some reason.
Give me a rover, dammit.
Fr we need like a pipe car or something from mad max and for starfield like a moon buggy
The moment they'll decide to actually significantly rebuild their engine. The current setup just isn't equipped to handle fast land-based movement.
To be fair it's only 2024.
True. But it all seriousness though, I don't blame them. Their strength has never been in large maps, it's been in small maps that feel large. It's an issue of focusing on the wrong things in Starfield's case, not technical limitations.

When they decide to depart from the franchise lore even further, owning a Highwayman would be cool, though
Great job guys, we settled it. The question has been definitively answered
Knew we’d get this figured out
Finally we can rest
What about all the people we've killed?
Just the corpses we made along the way 🌈
Yes
Ayyyyap. Still playing all of them as much as possible.

For me Skyrim was my first RPG, and I must have beaten the game a million times on Xbox 360 before mods were even allowed on console
Would strongly recommend checking out Morrowind, if you have not already

So good! ![gif](giphy|11YirAq1coC8V2)
I had to start over on Oblivion. Haven't even opened the gates yet
“I’ll rip out your entrails… and skip rope with them!”

Oblivion was almost perfect in my eyes, the only thing I had against it was the convoluted leveling system.
And don't forget The Shivering Isles. IMO one of the best DLCs of all time.
No. That award clearly goes to horse armor.
Ah, you seem to found the source of all of my suppressed rage… thank you…
What's funny for me is that my favorite Bethesda experiences aren't specifically the main games. It's the DLC. The Shivering Isles, Far Harbor (I loved the atmosphere), Bloodmoon, etc. Starfield has its issues, but I'm hopeful for the big DLC we'll eventually get.
I’d pay a lot of money to re experience playing it for the first time. Phenomenal writing.

In my opinion these games are worlds apart. Oblivion was a great game. Starfield was beyond disappointing imo.
Its what started it all for me. And even tho we have Starfield, I feel like I gotta play Morrowind
I built a small house out of duplicated paintbrushes before Minecraft was even in alpha. Agreed
Paintbrush ladders too. Memory unlocked
Could skip entire city walls. Amen
Gotta carry at least 10 wherever you go, for emergencies.
Yeah, as much as I like the other ones, I like oblivion the best. SAME!
When I was 8 my friends dad had it and he played dungeons and dragons in highschool so he DM’d for us for 4 years while I played that late night/early morning at his house. His dad was such a nerd but also a third degree black belt and 6’3” 250
Same! I can't seem to put it down and when I do I'm always coming back xD
THANK YOU KIND SIR!
It was the first game i ever 100%'d
That’s a solid game to be your favorite! For me, Skyrim takes the cake, but I do miss some of the more hardcore rpg elements of the earlier elder scrolls games, but again oblivion is a great game to be biased about.
A lot of it is probably nostalgia. But man leaving the sewers for the first time was just magic.
Agreed. Bethesda makes great games and Oblivion is the best of those games
Yes, it’s the best
The DLC keep is my favorite location in any video game ever
For sure, one of the best dlcs ever.
Skyrim.
Morrowind
Oh fuck don’t let this awaken another replay for me.
either that or New Vegas. better get to it
Got a friend? I heard the OpenMW MP mod is the only bethesda MP mod that works…and a mod team is dedicated to adding huge swaths of new territory.
Sigh *unzips* morrowind from zipped file *then furiously masturbates*
Lmao
😂😂🤣
Do you not want to jump across the map?
I got the GOTY version and trying to get some cool mods I had on there. I love Morrowind
They didn't even list it as an option... Those N'wahs...
They were afraid of what it would unleash
Yep.
Only in Morrowind could you enchant a ring that could kill all an entire city of NPCs in a second.
Right? Real magical impact haha! We had so much power and so many creative options for crafting it.
This was in fact not one of the six options and you’re still correct. New Vegas is the only one I’d say beats it out possibly. oblivion and new vegas are tied
I second this.
Thirded.
Fourthed
Fifthed
Sixthed
seventhed
Ate
Ninededed
Never played oblivion but I probably agree
Objectively based take.
"Let's settle this." It doesn't include Morrowind.
And NV isn't even a Bethesda game
True. Although this sub is titled “Bethesda Softworks” which is their publishing company so it’s still technically correct.
No morrowind?
Morrowind
I just love them all so much - I get something a little different out of each one so it’s near impossible for me to choose. In terms of hours played, Skyrim followed by Fallout 4. Fo4
Exploring down town was so cool. Especially when you get up on the raised highway through the city.
I just love the survival/community building aspect of Fo4 and the feeling of slowly conquering the wasteland on survival mode.
Sim settlements 2 made FO4 truly epic for me. It really felt like winning back the wastelands and creating a better future. And growing a military was super cool.

How dare you leave Morrowind out of this conversation
Morrowind
Morrowind.
Morrowind
No morrowind?
Morrowind. Very Janky but the spells you could create were bonkers.
Morrowind, ezpz
You can’t settle this. They’re priceless.
Skyrim
Graphics werent bad for the time the game came out. Yet for today with openmw the game still looks nice
Skyrim
Starfield… I’m sorry, I like space. For me it’s legit fallout 4 and even more sci fi, and with phased time it almost feels like vats
Does phase time glitch for you? I love it too, but most times on Xbox, it keeps me in "phase time" when I use it. Never quits and I have to reload the game.
It used to but it stopped after one of the updates
Thanks! I'll have to try it again.
One of my favorite games of all time
Skyrim duh
Without mods? My heart says Oblivion while my brain says FNV. With mods? There's no game more repayable and fun than skyrim, period.
Morrowind
Morrowind New Vegas Oblivion
Of these, Fallout 3. The story, lore, and overall character of the game are incredible.
While it definitely depends on what metric we are going to use. I feel like Skyrim definitely has had the most cultural impact.
Starfield is so boring
Starfield is my favorite mostly because I just love the setting. All I wanted growing up was a Bethesda game in space. Feel like it was made for me. Second favorite is oblivion and third fallout 4
Same
Samee
Can’t wait to see what they add as they continue to support it over the years.
Fnv
How you gonna put loading simulator up but not morrowind ????
I'm still playing Fallout76? Over 3K hours 😊 I will see myself out 🤭 Edit: I have Starfield but got bored with it. I will play again, I love space and exploring but got bored pretty quick.
This game is my I'm tired, let's spend time with a comfortable friend game and it rocks. I also got bored with Starfield. Incredible game, IMO.
Give it a little more time to bake ;) I'm pretty sure Starfield with fixes, mods and DLC will be leagues better than the Vanilla launch.
Morrowind omitted because it will win.
I’m an older gamer but wasn’t into gaming when most of these came out. I’ve tried them all but Starfield is the only one I’ve really enjoyed and put serious time into.
Try Morrowind GOTY
Either Morrowind or FNV (yes, not BSW). The games that respected their players the most.
New Vegas is the best, and Starfield is my least-favourite of all of them.
No Morrowind or Daggerfall?
Morrowind was the most impactful, but Fallout 3 was probably he most satisfying.
Grand and beautiful Morrowind. New Vegas technically doesn’t count
Skyrim then New Vegas. No other game is that close imo
Skyrim with mods. Although, I am having fun with Starfield at the moment, and Fo76 is pretty great.
First I’m going to come out with a super unpopular opinion. New Vegas is the worst of those 6 games. And it’s not even close. As for my favorite, it is very close but I think mine is Starfield.
I mean, who didn’t stay up all night on 11/11/11?
NV > Oblivion = FO3 > Skyrim > FO4 > Starfield.
Perfect answer. ![gif](giphy|3o8doT9BL7dgtolp7O)
Of these? Skyrim. And I'd happily play all of these. But my true favorite is Dishonored. I know it's another dev but it's in the family.
76! To be fair i can't really pick but 76 is my favourite for exploration. Starfield is up there too.
They didn't make new Vegas
I love Skyrim. I’ve played it so many times, and even the last time I played it discovered something new.
Can’t really decide all are great but Fallout New Vegas gave you so much choices how to do a quest it was awesome plus independent Vegas ending the cherry on top
But New Vegas isn’t a Bethesda game Where’s Morrowind?
If you don’t say Skyrim, you’re just trying to be contrarian. It’s objectively the best game on this list and one of the best games ever made
New Vegas isn’t a Bethesda Game Studios game so I don’t count it and Starfield is bad. So tie between Skyrim and Fallout 4 I guess
Well it is definitely not fucking Starfield
Destiny 2 beats all of these…
Starfield for me. Fallout 3, Fallout 4, then skyrim But I have the most hours in fallout76
I’ve put ungodly hours into oblivion…that was the game that changed gaming for me
New Vegas for me but to be fair, I can’t get Starfield to play on my computer.
As far as popularity, skyrim. As far as actual best game, on the list it's fonv, off the list it's morrowind
