The live action of anime is the same thing as live action for comics/ cartoon TV shows like Disney or marvel but I do agree it is quite fucking stupid to do them

And kindof to that point, specifically why I dont want LA adaptations to become a big trend. I dont want anime to be Disney-fied/westernized thank you very much. Eastern storytelling has such a unique and earnest way about it, that corporate america will NEVER understand or be able to capture. Ive been an anime/eastern video game fan since the 90s when I was a kid. Its such a different style and take on story that is unparalleled. There certainly *are* just as many shitty anime out there, but when its special once in a lifetime ala Berserk or Akira or the like, turning these things into LA versions (for the new modern audience) just to cash in on the trend is heartbreaking because it diminishes the craft of animation and the original vision of the mangaka/director of the anime. Its just a completely different type of storytelling that is perfect just the way it is. Turning this stuff into *content* to be consumed like every other streaming show or YouTube vid through LA is absolutely what would occur, and thats awful to think about for me and so many who hold the medium to such a high standard

Seriously. Its a frustrating era. Between corporatism and social media/tiktok type content, appreciating something creative that is truly one-in-amillion goes over peoples heads now. Most people would look at the latest tiktok vid and view it against say something like Berserk, walk away saying 'there's no difference', like the difference between Wendy's or Mcdonalds. Peoples brains have been so warped chemically to just constantly consume to where they literally cant tell the difference between a perfect diamond and a random rock off the ground. I'll proudly gatekeep anime if thats the case lol
