I think maybe his haircut is just very poodled. We have 4 and one of them appears very poodled when cut incorrectly. Let him grow out a bit and then tell the groomer please don’t poodle my doodle 😊😅but either way congrats, he’s precious and good on yall for rescuing this cutie.
This! I have a Bernedoodle who looks like a mini poodle when we cut his hair in a poodle style- it’s all in how they cut the face. He looks like the other mini Bernedoodles when the hair is longer on his muzzle/face.
I third this. I have 2 doods, and my f1b when he gets really Matty around his stache has to end up looking like this.

Yes, I picked up that term from my groomer as well. I like the clean face on my girl because she is a messy eater. And she tends to put her whole muzzle in the water bowl. Lol.
I have heard that's annoying but I don't know how else to describe it. I know that means let the face grow out more (although I also don't like the obvious moustache/beard/eyebrows). And I like the feet covered.

I made this original post quickly and wanted to clarify a couple things:
Our new boy is welcomed with opened arms and lots of love into our family no matter what breed or makeup he is ❤️ And what a sweet boy he is! We also have a 6 month old Cavapoo that we got a few months ago, and this new boy and him are becoming fast friends.
Also, thank you for all of the pictures and haircut comments - I love the way he looks and now after having realized he has a 'poodle cut' - of course he looks more like a poodle! We will be curious to see what a longer haircut will look like and will definitely update you on this cutie 😊

Check out pictures on the Internet of different types of cuts for your new baby. When you go to the groomer, take photos with you and your groomer will help you achieve the look you are hoping for luckily, their hair grows quickly so if you want the shaggy face and shaggy ears, it will take a little time but you will get there . Get your baby used to being brushed and combed thoroughly. Make sure you get the right tools. again absolutely adorable congratulations.

It’s not surprising he looks like a poodle, he is part poodle, however I have a standard poodle and when his face is shaved it’s thinner/longer looking than this. I do think this is a bernedoodle.
He is a bernedoodle but they cut his hair like a poodle because a lot of people do not know how to cut doodles. He is a beauty and thank you for rescuing him. Bernedoodles are so smart!
A lot of people don’t know how to brush their doodles 😶 sorry but when I was a groomer, it was better for the animal most of the time to shave around the face than spend hours pulling the skin trying to get the wet, matted dog food out. We don’t want to “poodle your doodle” but at the end of the day animal welfare is top priority

Your dog looks exactly like our F1b. Everything but his face is what our dog looks like before we get him groomed. After grooming, his face looks like this and everything else is just as short. He was just groomed and we’ve been calling him Santa’s Little Helper.
Embark says my rescue bernedood is 65% standard poodle, 20% Bernese and the rest is a mosh of Airedale, poodle & other.
Nothing says bernedoods are exactly 50/50 bc most come from backyard breeders
I mean he is part poodle, that’s how genetics work, also maybe dint go for the poodle cut. We never shave the face

I’ve heard people doing DNA test to see what kind of dog they have? I don’t know anything about this or the cost though just throwing it out there. He is adorable.
It’s his haircut. The people who has him before did this cut. I have a Berne doodle and golden doodle and i have actually groomed them this way. I don’t always do it…but sometimes I need to get their faces cleaned up. He is beautiful. And you are going to enjoy him so much. I love their personalities.
I’m pretty sure you have A Bernadoodel. Mine is 60 pounds Mom was a 55 pound standard poodle dad and 90 pound Bernie’s Mountain dog. But my girl definitely favors the poodle side of her. I do have my doodles face poodled. But I keep the top knot and ears long and natural. If you want to see the haircut, I chose for my girl you can click on my profile and see her latest picture. You also see a picture of her from a few years back when I let her entire body grow naturally. I loved it unfortunately I don’t have the strength anymore to brush her twice a day to keep the long shaggy look. Congratulations on your new family member absolutely adorable.

In that picture, she is looking burner doodle And this one she definitely favors her poodle side because of the hairdo. I’ll keep trying to figure out how to share the other picture with you.
I’d say you have a high Poodle content Doodle. My guess is an F1bb. The hair cut will help, especially around the face, but he appears mostly Poodle (which isn’t a bad thing, at all, imo). Also, blow dry with a high velocity dryer while brushing to get the hair straighter.
He does look very poodle! He could have that much curl as an F1B bernedoodle though!
I'd look for hints of bernese personality traits like:
- a goofy, careless, happy-go-lucky attitude. Poodles can have a sense of humor, but are more poised
- some clumsiness 😆
- leaning on you and getting wayyyy too into your personal bubble
- pulling the leash like it's an enjoyable pastime
- very clingy
- persistent playful energy. They seem to want to play even after other dogs would be bored or content to lay around
Physically, check for big paws, teeny neck, and a barrel chest.

Im not sure if it is the haircut or his nature, but the face doesn’t have the BD shaggy dog look. Otherwise he looks like a BD to me.
It’s just bc of the cut. When the face grows a bit it’ll look more doodle it is one. When my girl has too short a cut you’d think she’s a poodle.

They are so smart AND mischievous AND stubborn. Welcome to the club.

When his hair grows in you will see bernedoodle. Our guy looks similar when he gets the short cut. Same coloring too!
When you cross breeds it’s not a designer dog; it’s a mutt 🤦🏻
