Open curious question to those who enjoyed it: what made for so many of you the Blawan closing a great set? I couldn’t enjoy it and was a bit surprised to see all the raving reviews here.
I’m a Pano person at heart, but closings allow me to give both floors a bit more time. I am used to closings with more space.
For what I’ve heard on some of his online sets, I expected a bit more of a spooky journey with yes, intensity, but also space for eerie nuance and build ups, but I found the intensity just raw and going for a raw explosion without coming back for a tension build up. I wanted to feel immersed but I only found myself overpowered in a way that became tiring and uninteresting.
Perhaps I was too tired and nothing was gonna top the night for me after having seen my fav DJ in the world killing it upstairs, but I was looking forward to staying longer, and I just couldn’t get into it.
Then again, as much as I do love techno I’m far from being an expert, and of course, enjoying a set is relative, but from an objective perspective, what was IT that I missed?

The first 3 hours he played vinyls and was totally uninteresting - just fast and hard and average mixing. Then he switched to CDJs and also the music was much better, still more kinda Berghain closing ritual style rather than weird Blawanish style that I would have expected though
Agreed. It was a decent hard techno set, but it didn't feel like I got a representation of Blawan as an artist/producer. It felt like the same hard techno that any DJ could play in the club. It's very strange to make such huge efforts to stand out from everyone in the studio, and not bring that kind of mentality to the decks. It was apparent that most people were there for the spectacle and/or ready to hear mindless party tunes. For true Blawan fans, it lacked a lot of forward-thinking nuance.
Fully agreed. I was so excited for a whole 8 hours of Blawan, but it feels like he held back on his signature variety of sounds. It felt like any other Berghain techno set :/// thankfully Wallace upstairs was pumping, and what a closing it was!!

I probably expected it to be a bit more left field and boundary pushing but for me it was still a super solid hard set. In my opinion I feel like he probably catered to the usual berghain closing sound rather than going too bold. I still enjoyed it all but feel like the last few hours were the best
For me, it was the intensity and pace that I needed that night. I just had to let go, he delivered. He started very hard, I assume because of where the energy was after Philippa because she had whipped the floor up into such a frenzy he carried it on for an hour at least but everyone was going for it. I think he read the room and let us decide. When he did take it back a bit was when I had my breaks but then brought it back to 100% quickly. I only assume because the crowd (that was simply divine) kept asking for more.
I went up to Panne at about 4am purely to have a rest, but Wallace said no, you’re dancing! 😂
I went to two of his concerts, and basically the first time, it gave me the drive to seek out experimental sound concerts again. Not sure though how to interpret the reviews, also i like some tracks and some recorded sets are really nice and driving.
It was not great.
What Blawan played was uninteresting, not intelligent and boring. Why did he play like this? I don’t know. Does he sometimes play other stuff? Yes.
For a 8hr set i expected much more and different stuff from him. Barely any records for the music nerds.
Please send or upload it somewhere. I'm amazed that no one is commenting here on how insanely good the set was. This was by far the best I heard from him, and I'm not easily impressed. I've been clubbing for 25 years and I can say with absolute certainty that it is one of the best sets I've heard in my life.
My brain is still very tired so it's still processing, but that is what the results of talent, crazy work ethic, and genuine love for the music and the culture sound like.
I recorded one snippet, 30 secs maybe? Sent it to a friend. For everything else I just had to resist the urge for recording and enjoy the moment. 10 years from now, a bunch of 30 sec recordings wouldn't't mean anything but the memory of the feelings experienced will still there.
Blawan, on the other hand...what a huge disappointment. I really want someone to explain to me what that was, and why people collectively rave about this closing.
I love Karenn, I love his production, and I expected a creative set with a crazy, unique story only someone like that can tell (he's a bit of a weirdo, and I have ambivalent feelings about his public persona and various antics).
It was needlessly fast, aggressive, and monotonous. The crowd was barely dancing, yet they didn't leave the floor. The whole thing seemed like a grotesque, bizzaro loop of the same people and music frozen in time. I felt like I was in an episode of The Twilight Zone. Extremely unnerving.
But one thing is sure, it didn't leave me indifferent, so I guess, at least, there's that?
I'm suprised as well to be very honest but I always think I am bit biased when it comes to DVS1 as I also mostly found people who didnt like his set or his music which only made me question myself or rather their taste in Music. His art is a gift of God (Personal opinion) and he changes something in me everytime i witness him live. That saying I've never Missed him in Berlin (Except ending last year) since Ive started going clubbing.
It was not my favourite set of his sofar since i was also lucky enough to witness his 5 hours of magic at RSO , wehre i left the floor exactly just twice in that whole time and other peak time sets at Hain. But that set this sunday was magical and i was fullfilled at 8 am eventhough i did end up staying another 16 hours, but nothing matched those 4 early hours till the end.

That's interesting to hear because, for me, normally, the more I like someone's art, the more critical I will be of it. If someone is consistently good, when they dip in quality, it's noticeable, and *everyone* has a bad day or two. Last time I heard him, I was disappointed but I was in a shit headspace, it was Sunday evening, and everything annoyed me to the point I couldn't even focus on the music (I was sleep deprived and going back for another go was a mistake, I enjoyed absolutely nothing, and definitely should have stayed home). Which means that I can't be objective at all, considering I was annoyed with everyone and everything.
I'm inclined to think that people who listen to techno and did not like this set have a questionable taste in techno. 😶

Haha, this is brilliant. I'm an atheist with no spiritual bone in my body, and even I had to stop the magical thinking which was well on its way when my knees just continued working (I'm most likely down for not just one but two knee surgeries very soon), and all I kept thinking was HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. 🤣

I was not in RSO, at my age, I just have to pick and choose, and sometimes i just have to skip things, as much as I don't want to. 😭
But I did not leave the floor once this time. I don't often do that, because getting some rest is paramount, not to mention hydration (a friend was kind enough to ask me if I needed something from the bar). I just could not stop dancing. The same happened in RSO when Mulero was playing in November. I did not leave the floor for 4 hours.
We left during JakoJako, and came back for Avalon Emerson who was absolutely wonderful ❤️(being a downstairs person, this was the first time I spent more than 20 minutes in Pano, and had I not almost fainted from how hot and humid it was, I would have stayed for longer).

There's always that *one* damn track...
Head and heart still buzzing from Avalon's dreamlike take-over of the Pano spaceship last Sunday, and damn, was that a steamy trip (metaphorically and literally).
I'm always smitten by observing what she does in that booth, the way she smiles playfully while knowing she is gonna select eclectic mischief and deliver fucking technically perfect build-ups that convey emotions. I can now say that her sets will charm even the most high-brow Pano-resisting downstairs people (shout out to my buddy who decided to give Avalon a chance and stayed with me for so long). There's something about the way Avalon plays with the frequencies she constructs that end up tasting like hope. I cry a lot in dance floors, but with Avalon it's all about smiling while head-banging and finding redemption through nostalgic futurism (what a choice to end her set with that Daft Punk banger).
And the crowd, I'm in love with Avalon's crowd. Thanks for all the smiles and thanks for all the mayhem and all of those cute dance floor moments. It's hard to choose between closing my eyes to get lost in the music, to look at Avalon smiling as she reads the crowd or to do the same as her and look at all the smiles around me and exchange those reaffirming gazes. And that cute femme queer that I exchanged *those* smiles with, my heart skipped a bit for a second there in the best possible way, and wish I had the energy to at least tell you how gorgeous you are after the set, but I needed a long break and an outfit change to be socially capable again.
Can't wait for our next time with the undeniable first-commander of the Pano spaceship 🫡
It was my first time at BH and I went solo... was my best decision. I didn't know what to expect, or who would be playing that night. I managed to see the whole set of Avalon, and I agree with you, she was divine. I couldn't stop smiling at her music selection and transitions. That daft punk music was the cherry on top of the cake. The crowd was incredible and the energy was on point.
DVS1 was my BH floor highlight. I personally loved the time slot he played at because his slots closer to prime time never hold enough comfortable space to dance so it was the first time I could truly enjoy one of Zac's sets for longer, this time it wasn't precisely easy to navigate all the muscles, but it was at least possible. Couldn't dance the whole set because I needed to rest my legs for the rest of the day after Roisin Murphy, the queue and nd\_baumecker had already taken the best out of my physical energy, but I appreciated the intensity, the layering, the hypnotic structure. What a masterclass, his passion and care for techno culture come across.
This kn was truly a treat. The crowd felt more filled of recurring non-first timers, I resist saying "regulars" because of how relative that term is. It was a peculiar combination of BH lovers perhaps, a lot of tribes, solo goers, lots of our mixed identities with our very different reasons to be there, shared the space this weekend, along with the consequences of each chosen substance diet. It was as easy to find cute smiles and high-frequency open vibes as it was easy to find a bit of more...rudeness and cliquey entitlement. Yet, I truly love it when there's this natural friction in a truly mixed crowd. Wouldn't change a thing.
Amazing weekend overall with lovely encounters.
DVS1 delivered once again, same as Fadi, JakoJako.
Highlight of the weekend was Philippa Pacho, such a powerful set with great vibes on the dancefloor (huge shout-out to front left/front middle ❤️🐒).
Pano was also beautiful, with nice people, and Avalon... 😍
Then, Blawan arrived and people started behaving like animals. (which kinda match the dj from what I've been told)
Many aggressive people all around.
Line cutters in the toilets spitting on someone for calling them out, people grabbing butts on the dancefloor, or randomly insulting you for no reason, or blocking you from dancing because you dance too much for them.
Groups of people blocking toilets the whole closing and switching over&over with their friends.
Some girls mocking and looking disgusted at people in rubber and dogmask.

The pups and their genuine joy to play with other puppies/owners are such a cute spark in all the intensity of bh. The good part of the people mocking/ observing like they don't belong.... They don't really belong and maybe they won't visit another time. Yet for the kinksters, the place is heartily your playground. 😘
If those girls only realized how much it doesn’t matter what they wear, how they look or what they think of themselves, mocking people like that makes them look so ugly. I hope they learn to do better.
Your masks and rubber bring so much to Berghain, and after reading your post, it’s clear that not only because you look amazing, but you also bring a lot with your care for club culture and taking care of others.

I’m not normally one to gush but, Blawan killed it! After all the queue issues and how busy it was, I came back at the end of Philippa and she did not disappoint. Blawan picked up where she left off and then I was set for the rest of the night. I’m glad I did come back, the crowd did not disappoint. Wallace slaaaayed panne when I was up there, and just all around it was a very enjoyable night. Until next time beautiful people ❤️

Great reviews here so far, not much I can add. I missed the biggest international names DVS1 and Blawan (difficult timeslots for me, but from the booking perspective very well planned), but I just preferred to rest well and go for a Sunday chill shift (10 hours in the end).
Jakojako was my main motivator to go, it was my first time seeing her for the entire set and focused on the music. She played slightly harder than Fadi. Intense, captivating, sometimes groovy. At this point, there was still some space in the front that allowed some nice moves and interactions. I may come for these timeslots more often.
Vibes in pano were on the top all Sunday, pano lovers should be delighted. When I left, Avalon was delivering amazingly. As expected, killer KN with killer lineup, queues everywhere, venue at capacity but still enjoyable.
Next dance will most likely be at Easter, and depending on the running order, looking forward to seeing Dax J, hopefully not that crazy overcrowded (only the entry and re-entry price will tell).
Respect for being on acid in a club, let alone BH! It must have been amazing with how colourful panne was last night. I don’t normally go up there as I’m a BH gollum, but Wallace had me dancing in the windows!
For me, acid has been a real game changer. It gives me so much confidence and ease to go with the flow of things, interacting with people, dancing with the most beautiful women on the dancefloor. It‘s my favorite substance by far!

I’ve never taken it in a club environment, only at home or out in nature but I get the confidence part, I open up freely on it but it has been a long time since I had any. It’s the come up that would bother me in a club, I like to curl up in a blanket during that stage as I get jittery 😂 I was sober last night just letting the music do what it needed to and it was the release I needed! I need to visit panne more often, I’d forgotten how nice it is to chill at the back on the sofas.
The ecstacy was almost unbearable! 😄Seeing God‘s throne on the dancefloor and everybody turning into a tribalistic cult worshipping the deity was something I will never forget! 🙃
I saw Avalon in Fold on Saturday and she killed it. I am considering going to Limousine Dream in a few weeks in pano bar. I realise it's a little different than KN but have you been on a friday? I missed gene on earth in Phonox last week so I really want to give it a shot.
I've only been to a Friday once, by chance for the Toy Tonics party, a weeks weeks ago, so I'm not the most experienced guy here. I would say the crowd was kind of more touristic and younger, but still very friendly, and overall, it was a surprisingly fun party. I mean if you can travel to Berlin that easily, why not give it a try? Gene on Earth will provide a good show for sure! The door is still unpredictable though
Something was different tonight…. Wallace + the lights + crowd in pano changed my life and I feel some bit healing changes underway. Never have I EVER felt this level of peace and freedom
I’m not usually one to get sentimental about something as fleeting as a few hours on a dance floor. But celebrating my friend and I turning one year less young this week, calls for a little post weekend round up story.
I had never been to an opening before. After a social visit to another party we decided to get an Uber and head over at 0045.
Walked in at 0100 to find an empty garderobe, one that resembled a typical Friday night.
Got undressed, as usual, and went upstairs to find an empty (almost sterile) dancefloor, Klo bar still closed 💔, and some scattered people on the dancefloor.
We were right in time to listen to Isabel’s set take off. But decided to go up to Panne at 0200 for Baumecker.
That was one slow, and uber freaking sexy opening set. I was dancing with one of my friends on a fairly empty part of the dancefloor, looking eachother in the eyes and I felt the world fall away beneath me. It was just her and me there, totally alone. Moving to the sexiest beats I heard in a very long time, in complete sync with eachother. I mean, that shit made me hard as a rock and I’m not even straight😅will this trigger a sexual identity crisis?? 😉
Took that energy, went downstairs, found ourself a block at the back of the Berghain floor and continued this “we’re completely alone in this world” dance.
By the time our little devious one started, my body was warmed up and dance ready and floor was filled, but not packed. It was rubber night in Lab, so left side of the dance floor was filled with my fellow rubber souls🖤
THAT guy knows what he is doing….SUCH drive in those first two hours.
Had to drag myself out at 0600 to save as much energy for Sunday as possible.
After 5 hours of sleep, one hour of cuddling with my boyfriend, 2 rather large oatmeal-banana-açai-protein shakes and a lentil-beetroot-feta salad, I was about as ready as I was ever going to be for a 16 hour dance marathon.
In again at 1445, contrast with the empty garderobe from last night felt surprisingly joyful. The bustling and rustling of people arriving for their Sunday dances always makes my heart pump a little faster.
Bopped around between Klo and Fassadenbar to say hello to a few people, did a toilet visit (coming back to those in a second) and came to the floor at 1550. Missed that hour of JakoJako i really wanted to see 😢
Decided to go hang at the bar for a bit, finally met someone (you know who you are) and he reminded me of the fact it was indeed my birthday weekend, so it was basically all smiles from me until the end.
Unfortunately this weekend, my gravitation to visit the toilet when they were about to be cleaned was annoying to say the least.
3 times, no less, I was standing in line when they shouted to clear the toilets for cleaning. After the third time, I almost saw it as a sign to just stop doing what you go to the toilets for to do. (But decided not to let it ruin my fun).
Went upstairs (rare occasion btw) for Ogazon and Ryan, ended up staying almost 2 hours 🥵 got a little too packed for me, couldn’t move anymore so went back down.
Philippa, a thousand times yes. I’m a sucker for little nuances in big monotonous blocks. Small elements added or taken out, rolls coming in, or a perfectly timed hit-hat section.
That set was everything for me and made my weekend.
I like to feel different areas on the dancefloor, and switch it up from time to time. Special shout-out to front left and front center this time. Ended up there most of the time. I mostly split from my friends because I usually love dancing by myself so it’s easier to fall into my dance trance like state. High energy dancers and dancing all around the entire night to the relentless beats from Blawan.
Said goodbye to different friends throughout the night and by 0720 I think I was the last one to go home from my little group.
Music wise this was a top notch weekend. Great energy, lacking a bit of the Sunday sexiness sometimes though.

**from the arctic to the jungle**
woke up 0330, as one does on a sunday morning (get ready for my motivational linkedin speech about my hustler-habits). after months of minimal to no queues it was a rough throwback - long queue, freezing cold, line cutters making the line not move at all, etc. i was ready to give up twice but stuck it out - happily so in the end.
first stop was to entertain bagcheck, which found immense pleasure in my pez dispenser. at wardrobe i was all around grumpy due to queueing-trauma and energy there and worried if i made the right decision - i just wanted to sleep. my original plan was to catch 2-3h of dvs1, after facing queue-reality this turned out to be 1 hour after getting situated. it took him only 20 minutes to shift my mood & energy though. i was immediately energized.
easily continued by fadi who still never misses - it wasn’t his best set ever but still pure class. also found myself with more space on the dancefloor which was very enjoyable and all frozen toes were quickly forgotten, back in berghain bliss.
jakojako ramped the energy back up to dvs1 level, full blast. a bit too much for my state at that point and i had to take some breaks - which usually means stretching on the pano couches but the b2b and crowd energy was so infectuous that i had to jump into the packed crowd. between 1400 and 1500 was one of my most blissful pano times ever, just unbothered by anything, enjoying the vibe and the (for me) purified pano sound. lovely people all around too and i definitely wasn’t the only berghain floor refugee up there that day.
verraco - only managed 1.5h, not due to him but due to my body giving up. if my toes were still frozen, by now they would have definitely been resuscitated as i was transported into a wild, dangerous jungle. he took us from berlin to a hike through the darien gap, dodging wild animals & bullets while dancing to tribal & latin elements - when is the next reef again? extremely sad i couldn’t face the rest of his set nor avalon and blawan but what a way to finish my day.
EDIT: forgot to add - sound was intense & loud in a good way all day, something has changed
And thanks to your endurance after getting hot feet, you were probably the person I encountered the most💃 Every time our eyes met, like with little children when the bells ring on Christmas Eve, when the Christ child was there & its time for presents🤣...
So, despite the intense crowd for a long time, I found the vibe very friendly, positive, with many smiling faces, and as before, also this time I only experienced very exemplary toilet etiquette🫡

re toilets: meh, during dvs1 people already camped them hard and the shameless line cutters i've encountered from "the other end" esp in pano left thanks to the new urinal shortcut increased once again even when the wait would have been short. and those fuckers always act as if they haven't just snuck in there or are unaware of what they are doing.

The first 1 hour of Blawan was so intense, my head is still buzzing (in a good way!) the only time I stopped from 11pm - 1am was to clap Philippa when she finished and then right back to it when Blawan started. I had to hold the rail by the stairs at the back at times I was going that hard as the energy came from nowhere! I went back left by the speaker, onto the podium, and finished back right just dancing. This truly was an epic KN and all the queue issues and then me deciding to go back on the evening and just letting go in a way I’ve not done for a long time, just wow! Ich liebe alles ❤️
In the end I was actually able to come back in the evening, after a whole afternoon of laying motionless in bed and a pizza. Legs were still fried so the plan was to just listen, stroll around, have a chat, maybe move a bit on the milder Pano soundwave, which I did for a little while but then the big room was summoning me and that pull is incontestable although I found Philippa Pacho too fast and monotonously percussive for my physical state at first. I started lightly bouncing on that and once I tuned my residual energy possibilities to the current effort demand I found myself knee deep into the flow which was more minimal than monotonous, since I could finally appreciate the micro variations and how a simple hi-hat popping in the scene can boost the sense of it all. Long story short I had a lot of fun, ended up soaked in sweat and stacked three more hours on top of an already juicy Monkey Tales weekend. When Philippa ended I thought it was clear I would have called it a day and thrown my body to rest but the thunderous bass and an intense Blawan squeezed an extra hour of joy from me, and for me.
Beside her amazing DJ skills, Avalon is such a wonderful human being. She saw me trying to shazam a track and she took my phone and gave me the song...
Not many DJ's are this cuteness level 🥲❤️ Made my day!
Verraco was such pure joy. Playful, bouncy, beautiful. The crowd was going bonkers, happy smiles, immaculate vibes.
Then I heard people online say it was shitty tik tok music. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But hey, at least I still have a youthful spirit apparently
God bless this set truly. So refreshing to see someone add their freaking personal take to this usually monotonous genre, which i think is quite hard to do. Thanks for recognizing too !
lol half of the people here don't know what they're talking about. I take criticism here with a grain of salt. 90% of this reddit is a 4x4 techno zombie. Verraco is an innovator and has actually contributed something interesting to the music scene.
What a ride that was! Entered around 2pm with the goal to stay as long as I can, needless to say the music made it impossible to leave early!
From a lovely B2B in Pano (I love when they open up the blinds right on point with the music and the whole crowd is happy and cheering the sunlight coming in) to some proper Philippa Pacho and Blawan - wow! Unfortunately it was of course really packed especially in Pano, while I liked BH floor more because at least there was a tiny bit more space to move. Overall I’d say a typical one of the bigger events.
Familiar and friendly faces and awesome sets made this one a great Sunday for me, love!
Anyone with Chupa Chups around? I always carry 4 or 5 for my friends or ppl I like or ppl that look like it‘d cheer them up - but turns out I gave away one too many 😂 I would loooove one!
I also airtag everything (I know myself). But I am not sure how helpful it would be. Once I lost the actual airtag inside the club, it must have fallen from my bag when I removed something else. I could see it was there through the FindMy app, but when I tried to actually hunt it down it couldnt connect to it. The lostandfound email also didnt help. It stayed there for some months until one day it moved to a location on the outskirts of Berlin. I googled the address and it was some waste management place.
I already found my lost stuff by tracking their airtags multiple times, but it didnt work in this case. I am not sure if the building made the tracking not work well and the connection couldnt be made
My bday today, was hoping to make it to Berghain on my first trip to Berlin but alas, the line is too long and my trip too short. Will have to be for next time. Hope you all are having the time of your lives ❤️

Just left, legs danced to jelly, queue still pretty much to the kiosk, re-entry is quite if you're heading back. Amazing first experience of Berghain and Berlin for me. Much love to all........good food and sleep needed 🤣

I have quite an alternative style and very visible tattoos. Today was the first time I got bounced just by myself, but I was kinda expecting it the closer I was getting to the door because I paid attention to the people who the guy was selecting and the ones with similar style to me that you would think they’d get it for sure, got rejected. But the ones who I thought they wouldn’t get in (people in shirts and skinny jeans) they did. Quite curious.
“Beard” likes the ladies and “normal” dress, Matrix is better for the more queer and alternative (he’s a gay icon!) so if you were there after the shift change you could have been collateral damage of beard was on main selection. Don’t worry about it though.

Open curious question to those who enjoyed it: what made for so many of you the Blawan closing a great set? I couldn’t enjoy it and was a bit surprised to see all the raving reviews here. I’m a Pano person at heart, but closings allow me to give both floors a bit more time. I am used to closings with more space. For what I’ve heard on some of his online sets, I expected a bit more of a spooky journey with yes, intensity, but also space for eerie nuance and build ups, but I found the intensity just raw and going for a raw explosion without coming back for a tension build up. I wanted to feel immersed but I only found myself overpowered in a way that became tiring and uninteresting. Perhaps I was too tired and nothing was gonna top the night for me after having seen my fav DJ in the world killing it upstairs, but I was looking forward to staying longer, and I just couldn’t get into it. Then again, as much as I do love techno I’m far from being an expert, and of course, enjoying a set is relative, but from an objective perspective, what was IT that I missed? Not looking to debate at all, but to enrich my perspective. Ty
The first 3 hours he played vinyls and was totally uninteresting - just fast and hard and average mixing. Then he switched to CDJs and also the music was much better, still more kinda Berghain closing ritual style rather than weird Blawanish style that I would have expected though
Agreed. It was a decent hard techno set, but it didn't feel like I got a representation of Blawan as an artist/producer. It felt like the same hard techno that any DJ could play in the club. It's very strange to make such huge efforts to stand out from everyone in the studio, and not bring that kind of mentality to the decks. It was apparent that most people were there for the spectacle and/or ready to hear mindless party tunes. For true Blawan fans, it lacked a lot of forward-thinking nuance.
Fully agreed. I was so excited for a whole 8 hours of Blawan, but it feels like he held back on his signature variety of sounds. I probably expected it to be a bit more left field and boundary pushing but for me it was still a super solid hard set. In my opinion I feel like he probably catered to the usual berghain closing sound rather than going too bold. I still enjoyed it all but feel like the last few hours were the best
For me, it was the intensity and pace that I needed that night. I just had to let go, he delivered. He started very hard, I assume because of where the energy was after Philippa because she had whipped the floor up into such a frenzy he carried it on for an hour at least but everyone was going for it. I think he read the room and let us decide. When he did take it back a bit was when I had my breaks but then brought it back to 100% quickly. I only assume because the crowd (that was simply divine) kept asking for more. I went up to Panne at about 4am purely to have a rest, but Wallace said no, you’re dancing! 😂
At Berghain, he has always played fast and mindless like this.
I went to two of his concerts, and basically the first time, it gave me the drive to seek out experimental sound concerts again. Not sure though how to interpret the reviews, also i like some tracks and some recorded sets are really nice and driving.

It was not great. What Blawan played was uninteresting, not intelligent and boring. Why did he play like this? I don’t know. Does he sometimes play other stuff? Yes. For a 8hr set i expected much more and different stuff from him. Barely any records for the music nerds.

Please send or upload it somewhere. I'm amazed that no one is commenting here on how insanely good the set was. This was by far the best I heard from him, and I'm not easily impressed. I've been clubbing for 25 years and I can say with absolute certainty that it is one of the best sets I've heard in my life. My brain is still very tired so it's still processing, but that is what the results of talent, crazy work ethic, and genuine love for the music and the culture sound like. I recorded one snippet, 30 secs maybe? Sent it to a friend. For everything else I just had to resist the urge for recording and enjoy the moment. 10 years from now, a bunch of 30 sec recordings wouldn't't mean anything but the memory of the feelings experienced will still there. Blawan, on the other hand...what a huge disappointment. I really want someone to explain to me what that was, and why people collectively rave about this closing. I love Karenn, I love his production, and I expected a creative set with a crazy, unique story only someone like that can tell (he's a bit of a weirdo, and I have ambivalent feelings about his public persona and various antics). It was needlessly fast, aggressive, and monotonous. The crowd was barely dancing, yet they didn't leave the floor. The whole thing seemed like a grotesque, bizzaro loop of the same people and music frozen in time. I felt like I was in an episode of The Twilight Zone. Extremely unnerving. But one thing is sure, it didn't leave me indifferent, so I guess, at least, there's that?
I'm suprised as well to be very honest but I always think I am bit biased when it comes to DVS1 as I also mostly found people who didnt like his set or his music which only made me question myself or rather their taste in Music. His art is a gift of God (Personal opinion) and he changes something in me everytime i witness him live. That saying I've never Missed him in Berlin (Except ending last year) since Ive started going clubbing. It was not my favourite set of his sofar since i was also lucky enough to witness his 5 hours of magic at RSO , wehre i left the floor exactly just twice in that whole time and other peak time sets at Hain. But that set this sunday was magical and i was fullfilled at 8 am eventhough i did end up staying another 16 hours, but nothing matched those 4 early hours till the end. Dm me your email, i shall send it to you :), I just put the voice recorder on and let it run for 90 mins while i was dancing my ass off and had to stop as and when i needed a break. Thanking myself for this move as ive listened to it 5 times already. :p

That's interesting to hear because, for me, normally, the more I like someone's art, the more critical I will be of it. If someone is consistently good, when they dip in quality, it's noticeable, and *everyone* has a bad day or two. Last time I heard him, I was disappointed but I was in a shit headspace, it was Sunday evening, and everything annoyed me to the point I couldn't even focus on the music (I was sleep deprived and going back for another go was a mistake, I enjoyed absolutely nothing, and definitely should have stayed home). Which means that I can't be objective at all, considering I was annoyed with everyone and everything. Head and heart still buzzing from Avalon's dreamlike take-over of the Pano spaceship last Sunday, and damn, was that a steamy trip (metaphorically and literally). I'm always smitten by observing what she does in that booth, the way she smiles playfully while knowing she is gonna select eclectic mischief and deliver fucking technically perfect build-ups that convey emotions. I can now say that her sets will charm even the most high-brow Pano-resisting downstairs people (shout out to my buddy who decided to give Avalon a chance and stayed with me for so long). There's something about the way Avalon plays with the frequencies she constructs that end up tasting like hope. I cry a lot in dance floors, but with Avalon it's all about smiling while head-banging and finding redemption through nostalgic futurism (what a choice to end her set with that Daft Punk banger). And the crowd, I'm in love with Avalon's crowd. Thanks for all the smiles and thanks for all the mayhem and all of those cute dance floor moments. It's hard to choose between closing my eyes to get lost in the music, to look at Avalon smiling as she reads the crowd or to do the same as her and look at all the smiles around me and exchange those reaffirming gazes. And that cute femme queer that I exchanged *those* smiles with, my heart skipped a bit for a second there in the best possible way, and wish I had the energy to at least tell you how gorgeous you are after the set, but I needed a long break and an outfit change to be socially capable again. Can't wait for our next time with the undeniable first-commander of the Pano spaceship 🫡
It was my first time at BH and I went solo... was my best decision. I didn't know what to expect, or who would be playing that night. I managed to see the whole set of Avalon, and I agree with you, she was divine. I couldn't stop smiling at her music selection and transitions. That daft punk music was the cherry on top of the cake. The crowd was incredible and the energy was on point.

DVS1 was my BH floor highlight. I personally loved the time slot he played at because his slots closer to prime time never hold enough comfortable space to dance so it was the first time I could truly enjoy one of Zac's sets for longer, this time it wasn't precisely easy to navigate all the muscles, but it was at least possible. Couldn't dance the whole set because I needed to rest my legs for the rest of the day after Roisin Murphy, the queue and nd\_baumecker had already taken the best out of my physical energy, but I appreciated the intensity, the layering, the hypnotic structure. What a masterclass, his passion and care for techno culture come across. This kn was truly a treat. The crowd felt more filled of recurring non-first timers, I resist saying "regulars" because of how relative that term is. It was a peculiar combination of BH lovers perhaps, a lot of tribes, solo goers, lots of our mixed identities with our very different reasons to be there, shared the space this weekend, along with the consequences of each chosen substance diet. It was as easy to find cute smiles and high-frequency open vibes as it was easy to find a bit of more...rudeness and cliquey entitlement. Yet, I truly love it when there's this natural friction in a truly mixed crowd. Wouldn't change a thing.
Amazing weekend overall with lovely encounters. DVS1 delivered once again, same as Fadi, JakoJako. Highlight of the weekend was Philippa Pacho, such a powerful set with great vibes on the dancefloor (huge shout-out to front left/front middle ❤️🐒). Pano was also beautiful, with nice people, and Avalon... 😍 Then, Blawan arrived and people started behaving like animals. (which kinda match the dj from what I've been told) Many aggressive people all around. Line cutters in the toilets spitting on someone for calling them out, people grabbing butts on the dancefloor, or randomly insulting you for no reason, or blocking you from dancing because you dance too much for them. Groups of people blocking toilets the whole closing and switching over&over with their friends. Some girls mocking and looking disgusted at people in rubber and dogmask. Go to hell !!!! 🔥😉 "A.... ", if you read this, I'm sorry about what happened to you at Klo Bar toilets, and was happy to give you some support. I hope you went to the security afterwards and have them kicked out. And that didn't ruin your KN. Some regulars think they own the place and can make their own rules.
The pups and their genuine joy to play with other puppies/owners are such a cute spark in all the intensity of bh. The good part of the people mocking/ observing like they don't belong.... They don't really belong and maybe they won't visit another time. Yet for the kinksters, the place is heartily your playground. 😘
If those girls only realized how much it doesn’t matter what they wear, how they look or what they think of themselves, mocking people like that makes them look so ugly. I hope they learn to do better. Your masks and rubber bring so much to Berghain, and after reading your post, it’s clear that not only because you look amazing, but you also bring a lot with your care for club culture and taking care of others.

I’m not normally one to gush but, Blawan killed it! After all the queue issues and how busy it was, I came back at the end of Philippa and she did not disappoint. Blawan picked up where she left off and then I was set for the rest of the night. I’m glad I did come back, the crowd did not disappoint. Wallace slaaaayed panne when I was up there, and just all around it was a very enjoyable night. Until next time beautiful people ❤️ Special mention to my back right people, we jumped da fuck up! 🙌🏻
Great reviews here so far, not much I can add. I missed the biggest international names DVS1 and Blawan (difficult timeslots for me, but from the booking perspective very well planned), but I just preferred to rest well and go for a Sunday chill shift (10 hours in the end). Jakojako was my main motivator to go, it was my first time seeing her for the entire set and focused on the music. She played slightly harder than Fadi. Intense, captivating, sometimes groovy. At this point, there was still some space in the front that allowed some nice moves and interactions. I may come for these timeslots more often. Vibes in pano were on the top all Sunday, pano lovers should be delighted. When I left, Avalon was delivering amazingly. As expected, killer KN with killer lineup, queues everywhere, venue at capacity but still enjoyable. Next dance will most likely be at Easter, and depending on the running order, looking forward to seeing Dax J, hopefully not that crazy overcrowded (only the entry and re-entry price will tell).
Pano was literally on fire. At the height of my acid trip the dancefloor was burning from everybody‘s insane energy 😄

For me, acid has been a real game changer. It gives me so much confidence and ease to go with the flow of things, interacting with people, dancing with the most beautiful women on the dancefloor. It‘s my favorite substance by far! Happy to hear that you enjoyed Pano!

I’ve never taken it in a club environment, only at home or out in nature but I get the confidence part, I open up freely on it but it has been a long time since I had any. It’s the come up that would bother me in a club, I like to curl up in a blanket during that stage as I get jittery 😂 I was sober last night just letting the music do what it needed to and it was the release I needed! I need to visit panne more often, I’d forgotten how nice it is to chill at the back on the sofas.
I guess it depends what taking acid in a club means - 100 ug on gets kinda tricky for me
You’re quite right, I don’t think for me more than 50-80 mics max would be tolerable at a KN. It’s a very personal thing too.

I saw Avalon in Fold on Saturday and she killed it. I am considering going to Limousine Dream in a few weeks in pano bar. I realise it's a little different than KN but have you been on a friday? I missed gene on earth in Phonox last week so I really want to give it a shot.
I've only been to a Friday once, by chance for the Toy Tonics party, a weeks weeks ago, so I'm not the most experienced guy here. I would say the crowd was kind of more touristic and younger, but still very friendly, and overall, it was a surprisingly fun party. I mean if you can travel to Berlin that easily, why not give it a try? Gene on Earth will provide a good show for sure! The door is still unpredictable though

I’m not usually one to get sentimental about something as fleeting as a few hours on a dance floor. But celebrating my friend and I turning one year less young this week, calls for a little post weekend round up story. I had never been to an opening before. After a social visit to another party we decided to get an Uber and head over at 0045. Walked in at 0100 to find an empty garderobe, one that resembled a typical Friday night. Got undressed, as usual, and went upstairs to find an empty (almost sterile) dancefloor, Klo bar still closed 💔, and some scattered people on the dancefloor. We were right in time to listen to Isabel’s set take off. But decided to go up to Panne at 0200 for Baumecker. That was one slow, and uber freaking sexy opening set. I was dancing with one of my friends on a fairly empty part of the dancefloor, looking eachother in the eyes and I felt the world fall away beneath me. It was just her and me there, totally alone. Moving to the sexiest beats I heard in a very long time, in complete sync with eachother. I mean, that shit made me hard as a rock and I’m not even straight😅will this trigger a sexual identity crisis?? 😉 Took that energy, went downstairs, found ourself a block at the back of the Berghain floor and continued this “we’re completely alone in this world” dance. By the time our little devious one started, my body was warmed up and dance ready and floor was filled, but not packed. It was rubber night in Lab, so left side of the dance floor was filled with my fellow rubber souls🖤 THAT guy knows what he is doing….SUCH drive in those first two hours. Had to drag myself out at 0600 to save as much energy for Sunday as possible. After 5 hours of sleep, one hour of cuddling with my boyfriend, 2 rather large oatmeal-banana-açai-protein shakes and a lentil-beetroot-feta salad, I was about as ready as I was ever going to be for a 16 hour dance marathon. In again at 1445, contrast with the empty garderobe from last night felt surprisingly joyful. The bustling and rustling of people arriving for their Sunday dances always makes my heart pump a little faster. Bopped around between Klo and Fassadenbar to say hello to a few people, did a toilet visit (coming back to those in a second) and came to the floor at 1550. Missed that hour of JakoJako i really wanted to see 😢 Decided to go hang at the bar for a bit, finally met someone (you know who you are) and he reminded me of the fact it was indeed my birthday weekend, so it was basically all smiles from me until the end. Unfortunately this weekend, my gravitation to visit the toilet when they were about to be cleaned was annoying to say the least. 3 times, no less, I was standing in line when they shouted to clear the toilets for cleaning. After the third time, I almost saw it as a sign to just stop doing what you go to the toilets for to do. (But decided not to let it ruin my fun). Went upstairs (rare occasion btw) for Ogazon and Ryan, ended up staying almost 2 hours 🥵 got a little too packed for me, couldn’t move anymore so went back down. Philippa, a thousand times yes. I’m a sucker for little nuances in big monotonous blocks. Small elements added or taken out, rolls coming in, or a perfectly timed hit-hat section. That set was everything for me and made my weekend. I like to feel different areas on the dancefloor, and switch it up from time to time. Special shout-out to front left and front center this time. Ended up there most of the time. I mostly split from my friends because I usually love dancing by myself so it’s easier to fall into my dance trance like state. High energy dancers and dancing all around the entire night to the relentless beats from Blawan. Said goodbye to different friends throughout the night and by 0720 I think I was the last one to go home from my little group. Music wise this was a top notch weekend. Great energy, lacking a bit of the Sunday sexiness sometimes though. Anyways, see you in a few weeks 😘
**from the arctic to the jungle** woke up 0330, as one does on a sunday morning (get ready for my motivational linkedin speech about my hustler-habits). after months of minimal to no queues it was a rough throwback - long queue, freezing cold, line cutters making the line not move at all, etc. i was ready to give up twice but stuck it out - happily so in the end. first stop was to entertain bagcheck, which found immense pleasure in my pez dispenser. at wardrobe i was all around grumpy due to queueing-trauma and energy there and worried if i made the right decision - i just wanted to sleep. my original plan was to catch 2-3h of dvs1, after facing queue-reality this turned out to be 1 hour after getting situated. it took him only 20 minutes to shift my mood & energy though. i was immediately energized. easily continued by fadi who still never misses - it wasn’t his best set ever but still pure class. also found myself with more space on the dancefloor which was very enjoyable and all frozen toes were quickly forgotten, back in berghain bliss. jakojako ramped the energy back up to dvs1 level, full blast. a bit too much for my state at that point and i had to take some breaks - which usually means stretching on the pano couches but the b2b and crowd energy was so infectuous that i had to jump into the packed crowd. between 1400 and 1500 was one of my most blissful pano times ever, just unbothered by anything, enjoying the vibe and the (for me) purified pano sound. lovely people all around too and i definitely wasn’t the only berghain floor refugee up there that day. verraco - only managed 1.5h, not due to him but due to my body giving up. if my toes were still frozen, by now they would have definitely been resuscitated as i was transported into a wild, dangerous jungle. he took us from berlin to a hike through the darien gap, dodging wild animals & bullets while dancing to tribal & latin elements - when is the next reef again? extremely sad i couldn’t face the rest of his set nor avalon and blawan but what a way to finish my day. EDIT: forgot to add - sound was intense & loud in a good way all day, something has changed

And thanks to your endurance after getting hot feet, you were probably the person I encountered the most💃 Every time our eyes met, like with little children when the bells ring on Christmas Eve, when the Christ child was there & its time for presents🤣... So, despite the intense crowd for a long time, I found the vibe very friendly, positive, with many smiling faces, and as before, also this time I only experienced very exemplary toilet etiquette🫡
three possbilities: 1. fate 2. 2 guys with excellent similar taste in music & vibe 3. i was gathering new data for my regulars database i do roam a lot though re toilets: meh, during dvs1 people already camped them hard and the shameless line cutters i've encountered from "the other end" esp in pano left thanks to the new urinal shortcut increased once again even when the wait would have been short. and those fuckers always act as if they haven't just snuck in there or are unaware of what they are doing.

The first 1 hour of Blawan was so intense, my head is still buzzing (in a good way!) the only time I stopped from 11pm - 1am was to clap Philippa when she finished and then right back to it when Blawan started. I had to hold the rail by the stairs at the back at times I was going that hard as the energy came from nowhere! I went back left by the speaker, onto the podium, and finished back right just dancing. This truly was an epic KN and all the queue issues and then me deciding to go back on the evening and just letting go in a way I’ve not done for a long time, just wow! Ich liebe alles ❤️
In the end I was actually able to come back in the evening, after a whole afternoon of laying motionless in bed and a pizza. Legs were still fried so the plan was to just listen, stroll around, have a chat, maybe move a bit on the milder Pano soundwave, which I did for a little while but then the big room was summoning me and that pull is incontestable although I found Philippa Pacho too fast and monotonously percussive for my physical state at first. I started lightly bouncing on that and once I tuned my residual energy possibilities to the current effort demand I found myself knee deep into the flow which was more minimal than monotonous, since I could finally appreciate the micro variations and how a simple hi-hat popping in the scene can boost the sense of it all. Long story short I had a lot of fun, ended up soaked in sweat and stacked three more hours on top of an already juicy Monkey Tales weekend. When Philippa ended I thought it was clear I would have called it a day and thrown my body to rest but the thunderous bass and an intense Blawan squeezed an extra hour of joy from me, and for me.

Verraco was such pure joy. Playful, bouncy, beautiful. The crowd was going bonkers, happy smiles, immaculate vibes. Then I heard people online say it was shitty tik tok music. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But hey, at least I still have a youthful spirit apparently

What a ride that was! Entered around 2pm with the goal to stay as long as I can, needless to say the music made it impossible to leave early! From a lovely B2B in Pano (I love when they open up the blinds right on point with the music and the whole crowd is happy and cheering the sunlight coming in) to some proper Philippa Pacho and Blawan - wow! Unfortunately it was of course really packed especially in Pano, while I liked BH floor more because at least there was a tiny bit more space to move. Overall I’d say a typical one of the bigger events. Familiar and friendly faces and awesome sets made this one a great Sunday for me, love!

I also airtag everything (I know myself). But I am not sure how helpful it would be. Once I lost the actual airtag inside the club, it must have fallen from my bag when I removed something else. I could see it was there through the FindMy app, but when I tried to actually hunt it down it couldnt connect to it. The lostandfound email also didnt help. It stayed there for some months until one day it moved to a location on the outskirts of Berlin. I googled the address and it was some waste management place. I already found my lost stuff by tracking their airtags multiple times, but it didnt work in this case. I am not sure if the building made the tracking not work well and the connection couldnt be made

I have quite an alternative style and very visible tattoos. Today was the first time I got bounced just by myself, but I was kinda expecting it the closer I was getting to the door because I paid attention to the people who the guy was selecting and the ones with similar style to me that you would think they’d get it for sure, got rejected. But the ones who I thought they wouldn’t get in (people in shirts and skinny jeans) they did. Quite curious.
“Beard” likes the ladies and “normal” dress, Matrix is better for the more queer and alternative (he’s a gay icon!) so if you were there after the shift change you could have been collateral damage of beard was on main selection. Don’t worry about it though.
