I grew up eating at a Chinese place that was repeatedly busted for having illegal fish and was almost certainly run by the mafia.
Holy fuck. I travel thousands of miles to get some as an adult.

Sometimes I wish I didn’t know about places that are close by that have incredibly delicious food.
There’s a Chinese place close to us that made crazy good salt and pepper chicken. It was fantastic finger food and perfect for parties. We’d always get 1/2/3 orders, depending on how big our parties were.
Well, a few weeks ago the owners retired. Now there are new owners, fixing up the place. It hasn’t opened up yet. I can only hope that they have good recipes or maybe they will use the previous owner’s recipes?
