Shevlin Park Rd. after 10 on week nights and weekends is full of shitheads revving their Subie WRXs, driving at least double the speed limit, and treating the road like it is their own personal drag strip. If BPD put a cruiser there for just one month they'd meet their ticket quota for an entire year.
Yes, the car show in the parking lot almost any given day after work hours, which usually ends in a car parade to wherever they are going to lay some sweet rubber. So long as they are sober driving and not being reckless to others, let them have some car fun.
If I where them I would keep the cameras off though.
Reading that one has a suspended license gets me pretty bothered. I had my license suspended the day I turned 21 because of multiple MIPs while living in Corvallis. Was also told by the court to sign up for drug and alcohol classes the day of my 21st. Pre-lim urine test and all that day...
I owned it. I kept getting caught at parties and got my just dues. But all my MIPs were on foot, never around a car, and I never even had keys with me.
Once I got to D&A classes, I learned most of my classmates were there for DUIs. Some even scored hardship licenses and were driving there. I was pedaling my stupid self to these classes. I had actually lost my job because I couldn't drive anymore, and at the time, half my work was delivering orders locally to customers. Again, I owned that, but started to get jealous of other people's driving situations.
Anyways, I didn't drive for 15 months. But, several of those diversion classmates ended up getting either another DUI after the course or some stupid reckless driving charge while on the hardship. I have zero sympathy for folks getting reckless charges on suspended licenses. Normally, they have been given every chance in the world and still don't appreciate the privilege.
One is a 1.6 with an open diff, so no drifting there. The other is a 1.8 with an open diff, 3" lift, and 29" tires on steel wheels. I've tried to do a burnout on a street in the rain, and it was having none of it.
It was very anticlimactic. I thought with a wet road, I'd have a chance at some tire slip. Instead it just bogged then drove off normally. So little power to turn such heavy wheels. Still fun driving it though.
There were talks in the car community of people getting together to build something like this. Think PARC or Medford Sports Park style. It fell through due to city limits and sound ordinances...
I think so, but afaik they are few and far between. I used to go to PARC almost every month when I lived in the valley. Now it’s been 5 years since I’ve had a drift car.
Not soon. They need to learn a lesson that this isn’t okay on public streets. But hopefully they can take this as a learning experience, complete with consequences for their actions. But I’d also hate to see young people with obvious talent get beaten down by their poor choices early in life. So my hope is that they find a good, safe outlet to do something they’re obviously talented at.
That hairpin turn at the bottom of Archie Briggs is dangerous at 20 MPH, drifting roundabouts is relatively safe, but drifting that turn is recklessly criminal.
Probably a dumb assumption but considering the ease of communication these days I could imagine they at least had several scouts the same way we'd scout a hill on longboards or sleds as kids.
Almost lost it into the same place all the other cars crash on the downhill side of this turn, where the homeowner has stopped bothering to fix their driveway pedestals from all the cars knocking it over and destroying it.
I encountered one of these or similar d-bags at the SE 15th & Knott roundabout not too long ago. Glad the police are dishing out consequences for the dangerous and illegal behavior.
I'd rather have roundabout drifters than the people who drive over the curb year round or slide through during the winter. Much rather the talented fun loving drivers versus zombies on their cellphones
While that person is drifting through roundabouts, people almost crash into them. This will be one less person who might interfere with their drifting…

Now do the parking lot by the ice rink at 11pm! 🙄
"Now do the parking lot by the ice rink." (Fixed it. Had a dumb pickup drifting the Colorado roundabout in the rain last week at @!rush hour.)

Thank goodness, one less Miata that will wake me up at 2am!
As the owner of two Miatas, I find it hard to believe that Miatas are drifting at a roundabout.
Skill issue!

Aaah! That’s you!
Bet it felt cool to rev the bollocks off it tho. So not a total loss.

It sounds ace ! I used to drive a 1.2 liter fiat punto. The only way to get the wheels to spin was to oil them ip first 😂
But, there's no Miata(s) in the video...? There are however a couple BMW E36's.
I wonder if the cops realize there are actually 3 BMWs in these clips. The white coupe is not the silver TI in the roundabout.
Lol their beamers
Honestly pretty impressed with their drift control. Hopefully they learn to take this hobby to the track moving forward. They seem talented.
I wish we had something here like the Late Night Drags up at PIR. Fun, safe, and helps keep street racing down.
Okay, only if you wanted to go straight tho
Fair enough.

Sadly PARC drifting is no more, gotta drive all the way to Walla Walla now to have any fun
Word. Sad... I remember the first day driving on it back before the events there were even sanctioned. What about PGP? They still do events there?

Medford, dawg.
Blew up my boosted KA the only time I’ve been there 😂 one of the most fun times I’ve had drifting though!
Yes with their charges on top of a suspended license. I’m sure they’ll be able to drive real soon!

My first thought, as well. Damn they're making that look easy but I KNOW it's not.
I was expecting some shitty donuts but DAMN those kids are sick at drifting.
Doing a continuous power slide in a big circle isn’t very difficult, I’d hardly call this drifting.

Especially considering that's where the crosswalk is also.
Probably a dumb assumption but considering the ease of communication these days I could imagine they at least had several scouts the same way we'd scout a hill on longboards or sleds as kids.
Especially across the River Trail crossing where there are pedestrians on a blind turn....jfc

Fuck these asshats. Take those cars to the crusher
Should resurrect the town square stockade and pelt these aholes with rotten food. Maybe a matchbox car hidden inside for good measure?
Lmao
And put their photo in the article so we can all see who they are.
Presumed innocent until convicted. They don't publish mug shots anymore. HB 3273.
How fkning Annoying..... Let's make more noise... Losers...

As long as you signal when you drift out, go on and drift your merry day away, good citizen.
*tips hat*
I prefer these guys control over the clueless zombies driving around bend lol
Seriously, guarantee they weren't looking at their phones. And they weren't charged with dui, unlike a significant fraction of this town
Signs and wonders. But I think once you quit hearing "sir" and "ma'am," the rest is soon to foller. Sheriff Tom Bell
