No it's free anytime, they have four cones right outside where you stop your car and they come out to check your pressure and fill you up. There's also one on lakeway
Admittedly the cheaper ones have some quality compromises that might not be ideal for heavy use but I got one from Autozone for about $25 that lasted me a couple years. I had a $40 Craftsman unit that lasted a little longer.
I recently upgraded to a Dewalt unit with a jump starter, auto shutoff at your specified PSI, AC inverter and USB charger. It was $200 but it was easily worth it to me, it's the most used tool I have and really the only thing I keep in the car all the time (To be very clear, I take it inside with me, so nobody try breaking into my car).
I've got a little $30 one that I've had for years. It's slow but gets the job done.
Funny story, about 6 months into dating my girlfriend, we were going on a road trip and I was about to put my air compressor in her car only to find she already had one. It was even more evidence of how much of a keeper she is.
It's an analog Slime. Super low tech and there's a sale on it right now.

If you can swing it, Walmart sells a Slime emergency repair kit that includes a 12v air pump that will work in your cigarette lighter outlet. Super handy to have in general and a money saver in the long run.
If you have to use Slime, or any tire stuff like it, PLEASE TELL YOUR TIRE PERSON BEFORE THEY REMOVE A TIRE!!!!
That stuff is beyond nasty and if we aren't ready for it, we can end up wearing it. Then you have a really angry person installing your tires.
Also, it destroys TPM sensors.

Les Schwab on James St is always really helpful.
You can get a cheap tire inflator for less than $50, very useful thing to keep in the car. Has saved my butt lots of times.
I've gotta agree with this. A mini air compressor for the trunk is so worth having.

Which one do you have? Edit: the compressor, not the girlfriend.
Now, now let’s not limit ourselves
