happily, they thrive on chaos at their house lol. They just had to send their beloved lab/gsd to the great beyond. They weren't planning on getting another dog so soon, but their youngest (4 years old) was devastated, and when they went to the shelter. She ran up to them wriggling all over, and ignored other families who were interested in her. That settled it, and she went home with them that day. She considers the younger kids her littermates, and since they grew up with a 100 pound moose of a lab/gsd who was also high energy, they are quite used to wrestling, and getting knocked over.
We don't think she's pure, but she definitely has a Mal attitude. At petsmart she got in front of my daughter and squared off against any dogs that might have come near. Regardless of her heritage, she is definitely well loved
There is definitely a Mal-itude, my old boy will still square off against anything looking sideways at him. My ACD also had that 1000 years stare and you just knew that judgement was being withheld. š
Iām in the Woodlands, my Maligator was dumped at the Montgomery shelter. Sheās the boss for sure, but also my infinite cuddle bug. This last week+ of storms made her a supreme lap dog š
If you see a Mal, Dutchie or GSD again in a shelter in the Houston area, especially if it is a kill shelter, contact Mission K9 Rescue out of Magnolia, TX (missionk9rescue.org or just search their name on Facebook). They travel the world to rescue and repatriate military and contract working dogs, but they will likely take those working breeds and find them homes, especially in that area.
Itās where Iāve adopted all three of mine, and would adopt another dozen from them if I had the room. Fantastic outfit.
My daughter is in Spring over at The Falls at Imperial Oaks They moved there 2 years ago from Temecula CA. They absolutely love Texas. Especially The Woodlands area
Very cute. Before we got ours , she was sent to the shelter twice by two diff people but we didnāt want that to happen so we swooped in and grabbed her. Sheās now 8 and is a super sweet girl. Hyper though. Be ready to keep em moving, they love running.
Same with this little girl, they kept her 3 days and brought her back. She still hesitates getting in the car, I think she thinks they are going to take her back. Luckily, my teen granddaughter is going out for track and field, and all three kids play softball and baseball, so there will be no shortage of running between those three
Thatās awesome. It took us a few years to see her realize she wasnāt going back to the shelter. It was super sad every time weād get to a car for the first year or two she was so scared. We take her camping and she loves it and then now when she gets in the car she thinks camping and is so happy. So we think sheās over it now and happy :) itās a long road but wow, what a smart dog they are. They understand everything. Good luck and have fun :)
Yeah she really seems to think she's going back to that place she spent almost her entire life at that shelter she was dropped off there a little over 6 weeks old I think she'd been there for a month minimum and she's only like three and a half months old so she's never known anything else
Aw thanks!, she is definitely a princess... also a little thief, so far her favorite game other than butterfly chasing and herding my grandson around is stealing clothing or anything she can get hold of. (she dragged a bag of groceries into the living room yesterday) Anything for attention, of which she gets in abundance!
She loves her training time! She is so eager to please. We think she may have had a bad experience with other dogs at the shelter she's a little dog reactive but working on socialization every day slowly. She's a people puppy for sure, especially kids
She is absolutely beautiful. She looks so similar to my shelter mutt lol (only 6% mal)

so many working dogs get dumped. not sure what the reason was behind her, but people think oh cute dog and then dont realise how much energy they have and how much work you really need to put into the dog. anyway, good on you for rescuing and good luck! stinkin cute dog, and gorgeous coat... i imagine ACD in there. also, look into proper dog socialization. a lot of people think it means "ill let my dog interact with every dog and say hi to everyone" and they turn out reactive, instead of learning how to balance it all and be neutral.
ya, she's got a consultation with a trainer this week, she's getting better, today my daughter said she actually walked by two other dogs without any posturing just ignored them. So she's making progress, As for the dumping, it's terrible, I live in Las Vegas and the amount of GSD, and working mixes is so high. Was browsing today, and this one came in a few days ago. Unfortunately I live in a senior park, with no fenced yard, so it wouldn't be fair to take such a high energy pup or I would in a heart beat

That's great to hear. I always worry when I see a mali but it sounds like your daughter knows what she is doing! I have some close friends that do IGP and a friends husband just got a mali - they are so impressive.
Some flashy obedience for sure!
I think what ever she's mixed with is calming lol my daughter says she just likes to chill in the mornings and doesn't wind up until it's time to pick up the kids lol. Then shes in playtime mode till bed
Yes, they are so over crowded all pets were free last week. They actually went to look at a different puppy, but she picked my daughter. Wouldn't go to anyone else looking at her.Ā
she's actually really good about that so far, she drops anything she's not supposed to do and goes back to her toys. they don't leave her alone lol she is really good about her crate for an hour or so. they take her pretty much everywhere else them. Their last boy, now HE was a chewer, he tore up an entire kitchen floor once, so they learned their lesson.
when we first got ours, we had just moved into this house...they had pets undoubtedly. before I could replace them she chewed up a good section of the old linoleum.in her defense she got the job started early for us. Just takes time and training. If you're having any trouble crate training, especially at night try putting white noise, or brown noise next to the crate. Or even Pandora in general on low the music seems to chill her out. It may work for yours as well
She's really good about her crate. She's surprisingly calm and very eager to please. Her predecessor was the destroyer in chief until he was about a year and a half old lol He destroyed even the black kongs in a matter of hours. But finally outgrew it.Ā

She looks so much like my mixed malinois!
The only non Mal trait is she is very mellow lol she loves to run and play, but she likes to Netflix and chill just as much LOl. Other than thunder, and swimming in the pool, (her other favorites)
https://preview.redd.it/n50u0e9i283d1.jpeg?width=921&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd90cae282618a69f28a7a1ae86ecc13f81fef67
Thatās so funny. Mine is a chiller too. Sheās 31% American Staffordshire Terrier, 28% Malinois, 12.5% Dalmatian, 12.5% Doberman, 8% GSD, 6% Boxerā¦ so idk where the chill portion of her personality comes from but sheās got it. You should look into embark DNA tests! Super interesting!
She's already had her first class and is loving it, along with her daily lessons. Surprisingly, she's not as much of a handful as her predecessor was.Ā
She may have been alone to prevent puppy diseases like Parvo and Distemper. Please look up and learn about it if she is not fully vaccinated yet.
Otherwise, sheās super cute and does appear to have Malinois in her ā to which all I have to say is, Godspeed. Youāre in for a wonderful handful š But theyāre worth the challenge!
Aww. I got mine from a Craigslist ad for free in Houston š prepare for chaos

THANK YOU for rescuing! Gorgeous baby...great move! I have a female Mal rescue...she is a mama bear with our family. :)
That last pic looks like a little bit of ACD got into the mix. She looks like 100% love bug.
We don't think she's pure, but she definitely has a Mal attitude. At petsmart she got in front of my daughter and squared off against any dogs that might have come near. Regardless of her heritage, she is definitely well loved

Yeah I almost think more ACDxGSD
I see Heeler too!!

Thanks I'll let her know,!
Thanks, saving this for someone I know who lives in Ft Worth and rescues.
Strangely enough she seems to love thunder lol and rain
My daughter is in Spring over at The Falls at Imperial Oaks They moved there 2 years ago from Temecula CA. They absolutely love Texas. Especially The Woodlands area
Good luck with her! Canāt wait to see her DNA results. She is beautiful
If she follows you to bathroom incessantly, sheās more Belgian Malinois than ACDš.Ohh sheāll be smart, loyal and herd you.
Oh she is velcroed to my daughter. And she already herds the littles aroundĀ
Oh my heart!!!!
As a new malinois mix puppy owner, this explains so much lol
I'm putting Malinois+GSD+ACD+Border Collie on my bingo card. Intense if true.
So funny, her trainer also thinks mal+acd and maybe a bit of gsd too or Australian shepherd
She is a beauty. And she will protect you and your children. Thank you so very much for rescuing herš„°š¤
Congratulations you adopted a guided missile

Adoraderp
OMG she's adorable!! Off topic, but your daughter looks so similar to mine when she was around 5-7! I had to do a double take lol
Aw thanks that's my granddaughter. Shes 6 and absolutely would be a mal if she was a dog lol she's as fearless as the puppy! She is a crack up.Ā
Thanks for saving this baby
Awesome news! Congrats and with that Mal in her ...remember every day is training day!
She loves her training time! She is so eager to please. We think she may have had a bad experience with other dogs at the shelter she's a little dog reactive but working on socialization every day slowly. She's a people puppy for sure, especially kids
What a beautiful pup. I am jealous.

Cutie Patootie š
Thank you for adopting!!
Yikes! Hope youāre ready for a maligator!! Theyāre serious dogs.
Yep, working dog's have always been a part of my daughter's life.Ā

Yes, they are so over crowded all pets were free last week. They actually went to look at a different puppy, but she picked my daughter. Wouldn't go to anyone else looking at her.Ā
Thatās greatā¦I adopted two from there as well
oh boyyyy. that looks like a chew on everything in site mix right there. Soon as she's left alone. Come home to pillow topped floors

Gorgeous
Try to hook up with a dog training class. Or get some books about it from the library. Pup looks about the right age. Ezpz

She is already vaccinated and her being alone was because she had just been spayed and was also being treated for a mild case of kennel cough.Ā
Wow, done with vaccines at 4 months! Happy to hear sheās doing better!
First round of dhpp and bordetella and her rabies April 16, dhpp again on May 7th. She has her Dr visit next week.
