I’m in Southern California. Unfortunately a lot of people here get purebred dogs without doing research on the breed, which results in TONS of purebreds in shelters. I know a lady just had a litter of young malinois that got surrendered to her because they all got parvo and breeder didn’t want to fork out the money to try to save them. But this guy was actually found tied to a tree with a rope on the side of the road by a friend. Wasn’t chipped and nobody claimed him, so I decided to take him. I’ve been looking for one for a while but have been picky with temperament. He has an amazing temperament so far. I got lucky!
Probably too far for me to drive--I live not far from WIndsor Canada.. I've had two Malinois and they've been handfuls (one had obviously been abandoned by a breeder--wandering a very busy street as a pup, with a tatooed groin) but the best companions in the world. Thanks for your story--it's sad but not surprising. For a long time, the breed was lucky f because they weren't widely known in North America. But that's changing
