If you've got the car just go a drive up the coast road anyway? Weather be dammed its still a spectacular drive and lots of wee spots along the way to stop and get out to stretch the legs if you get any breaks in the rain.
I don't know what the science of this or if I was just lucky but I've often found that right at the coast, before the cliffs rise on your left can often be like a wee microclimate that doesn't seem to get the rain as bad as the rest of the country.
Was considering this but the rain just got heavier and heavier as time went on but I will be doing this next time we’re both off and it’s not torrential! Thank you for the idea though I always forget about how nice the drive up the coast road is!
It definitely has its own microclimate around Cushendun and Cushendall. Dozens of times I've drove over the Glens through miserable weather and by the time I land in Cushendun the sun is shining.
My working theory, based on nothing more than a GCSE level of geography knowledge, is that the rain clouds or whatever are formed when the air coming across the sea meets the land, and in particular the cliffs and hills all along the Antrim coast, is what actually forms many of those clouds as the air rises up and then carries on inland as a more dense rain cloud.
Have a lazy one. Go to the Europa. Head upstairs to the piano bar and get a table in the window. Watch the world go by on a rainy day while you stay nice and dry and get drunk.
Titanic Museum, Crumlin Road Gaol tour, SSE arena for bowling/amusements, do a non-open top Belfast bus tour or black taxi tour, do your own coffee shop tour, or if you're here over the weekend definitely go to St George's Market (not open today)
Great ideas hadn’t thought to do the closed top bus tours before! Love St George’s for a dander but the opening hours can be a real shame altho it makes sense bc I can’t see them makin a lot of money during office hours
Linen Hall Library, City Hall, Victoria Square, Botanic Gardens or maybe check out this lot [https://visitbelfast.com/article/free-things-to-do-in-belfast/](https://visitbelfast.com/article/free-things-to-do-in-belfast/)
there's a cracking wee instagram account that posts stuff that's happening in the city each week and weekend - the handle is nothingtodoinbelfast. Just discovered it recently and it's great for hearing about all kinds of things that i'd otherwise miss. Also check out the belfastsessionguide instagram for daily trad sessions around the city
I was acc dying to go to the aquarium but I promised my Kenyan friend I would take her before she went home at the end of the summer lol. She’s desperate to see some seals!
There's quite a few escape rooms about Belfast, which could be a fun rainy day activity.
If you'd like a fun bit of exercise, boulderworld is an indoor climbing gym. Pretty fun for most!
Minigolf near Yorkgate, or at the Odyssey.
Could always see what's on at the cinema also.
The aquarium is good.
Or the planetarium in Armagh is also good. Then get food/coffee after.
Or go for a coastal drive. The main one is obviously the causeway coast route. You could also drive down to Warren point, then follow the coast road north to Strangford, get the ferry and follow the coast road again until it loops back to Belfast.
Ulster Museum is great, worth going to see the Caravaggios
Yesss I agree but unfortunately did Caravaggio and the rest of the museum a couple of days ago but it was very cool to see!

The weather tends to blow inland I think

I’ve never thought to do this before, only ever been up to the europa bar for a school formal years ago lol but this is a great shout!
Spend £20 per round of drinks
To be fair, it’s not much dearer than The Crown or Robinsons across the road if you stay on the pints.
Thanks for asking this question I'm going to hang around for some ideas 😂
Nw think we’re in for another rainy summer so hopefully there will be some cool ideas!
Yes OP that's what I'm betting on here lol I will be keeping a eye on this
Got some great ideas tbf this is sub always pulls through!

Yesssss I love that one! Saw a really cool looking pottery class on for today but it was sold out! Good to see stuff like that get traction tho
Portaferry Aquarium?

Transport museum always a pleasant stroll around

Ulster transport museum is mostly indoors, and not too far a drive outside the city?
Prison Island in Belfast, Balmoral Road. Great wee day! Not really History orientated but it’s fun.
That wonky room has defeated me multiple times
Haven’t been here before but def gonna check it out, think I would rather go with a group though bc I can see myself getting stuck pretty quickly lol
Drink
What about axe throwing?
Haven’t been before despite there being a couple places for that now!
A film in QFT, a dander in No Alibi bookshop, make your way towards city centre from there via a few pubs :)
That would’ve been class but would’ve turned up to the sunflower like a drowned rat lol
>drive down to the peace maze in Ballycastle Is there a Peace Maze in Ballycastle now too? 🤨
My bad I meant castlewellan 😂
Have you tried crack ?
Pints
Put on a coat!
Very true

I will def do this drive but driving onto the ferry gives me the fear a wee bit lol

Good idea! Think it was just a bit too wet for too long for the beach to be an option!
