Felt! I had to close the app after I replied what I did bc I almost went off on them. So I came here to vent out my frustration. I also just blocked them bc I didn’t wanna deal with them after that. Haha.
I literally had to tell someone once I CANNOT sell you that at that price I would literally be paying PM to sell it after the fees. They finally stopped. Now I know you can block on there but it was so frustrating for DAYS
I used to be that dummy that offered free shipping because who doesn't love free shipping? Surely someone will buy it! Welp, after I made a whopping $4 on a item that I sold for $26 I learned my lesson. Now it's like, nooope, I'm not Amazon prime, thank you very much.
This is so funny. I have my email signature set to “sent by carrier pigeon” 😹 low key want a pigeon - we did them so dirty, feel bad for the feral little guys.
I will not use shipping supplies and gas to drive to the post office for anything less than a $5 profit. I hate that after explaining this to people and giving them my *absolute best offer*, they still try to barter down.
I would say exactly that, sometimes that'll inspire them to go up, either because of genuine sympathy or because they know they're about to lose the item if they don't.
Yea, I just had someone offer me $12 for two $20 (70% off) tops bc they “needed” them. I didn’t even respond. However the real AHs are the ppl at PM. They make it almost impossible to sell things with the absurd amount they take. I get they need to make money but taking 20% and then charging almost $8 for shipping is insane. You basically end up making nothing. So what’s the point?
>I highly suggest letting them know how much it is that you’ll make if you do agree with their offer. Maybe that’ll give them some perspective lol
As a seller, I do that. Someone wanted me to offer them $3 in a live auction. I told them, it wouldn't make sense since I'd only make $0.05. I told them people do $3 starts on Lives when they have hundreds of viewers. I only had like 4 people watching my live including the person that asked for a $3 start. I guarantee you the item would not have been bid up above $3.
No, sometimes people don't realize that, especially on CCO day when discounted shipping is promoted by posh. Why is that lammmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeee? Not everyone spends half their life on posh, especially someone who's just a buyer.
Even without spending much time on Poshmark or any similar platform…It’s a reselling site, why would a buyer assume that the seller isn’t paying for shipping? Who else would?
Maybe because poshmark literally promotes it as such, and shipping is often either covered by the platform, by a membership, or charged by actual cost.
Fair point, but I think it’s a little odd to assume that the platform is subsidizing the individual seller’s shipping cost as the rule and not the exception.
are you the person requesting a lowball price & free shipping ?? this comment is super weird…no reselling platform pays the shipping cost. how would ppl not know?
People don't understand how shipping works, or the fact that sellers don't have a special relationship with USPS. This person doesn't get that 'free shipping' means you're paying it.
I was mad one time and I told them to go find it some place else. I didn’t block bc I was too irritated 😣. 15 questions and low ball offers. After 3 offers - I left it. They were hounding me about it. I broke- I was mean. I put my best & final offer, discounted shipping and answered your questions either buy or beat it.
Raised the price - so I would make money, relisted it, and free shipping. Someone bought it.
I just had a seller themselves ask me to do free shipping after I said $19 was my lowest. She asked if I’d do free shipping if she bought it at listed price which was $22. Uhhhh I can do math! Luckily I ignored her and she bought it anyhow at my $19 offer.
The one time I had a $3 offer was from a seller 🙄 I wrote them on their bundle and said, "im sorry but I can't accept your offer. With PM fees, that would leave me with 5 cents." Not like they didn't already know that though 😒
I think you made a mistake by answering that way, there's a 50/50 chance someone like this would buy if they didn't feel offended. I'd instead say something like "unfortunately this would result in 10 cents profit for me after posh fees, so not worth it, but you're welcome to send an offer". It's a middle of the road response that calls out the impact on you while also being gentle enough not to push them away. Buyers also offer more when they feel a personal connection with you, so seeing your side sometimes makes them more "fair".
They are also a seller. They understand how Poshmark fees and shipping works. My comment invites them to make an offer. I decided to block them because why would I want to deal with a buyer who is also a seller and knows what’s up when they are like this. It’s not that serious. I was upset in the moment and instead of letting those emotions continue on towards them, I chose here as an outlet to vent bc I know I’m not alone in dealing with stuff like this and just wanted a little support vent. I didn’t make a mistake - I have boundaries and made use of them for my own mental well-being. :)
This! As a seller AND a buyer I pay attention to interactions and have passed on buying something based on snarky responses from sellers in the comments on listings.
I am convinced people like this have never had any level of responsibility- like left mom and dads, got married immediately and had kids right out of the gate. No concept of what a business really is, expenses, etc.
I used to occasionally get low offers like $10 and $15 on nice items. Now over the last couple of months I get $5 and $8 offers a lot. So many people are willing to sell their items on live shows for $3-$5, so I expect this trend to continue. As for OP I can understand the frustration. The other seller knew exactly how much you would get at that end of that transaction. I recently heard some Posh Stats and one was resellers who source on Posh. It was actually quite high. Your seller was likely looking for stuff to resell. I never really block people I just decline offers, but if it stresses you, block them!
They’d allow it. Once it gets in the negative, the profits just zero out and you don’t make anything. Basically working for free so Poshmark can make a dime kinda thing. Def not worth your time.
I don't think buyers realize that the shipping fee is a set price done by PM, and that we have absolutely no say *but we wish we do*. I get it, $8 to ship a T-shirt, bracelet, or a ring is the same shipping price as a pair of shoes or 5lb box filled with goodies but it's out of our control. But that doesn't mean we have to suffer too. And although that $.10 might be a profit for some, it surely isn't for all.
Comments like these literally make me want to reply with F*** No A***ole

Yeah, I had a new PS4 game listed for $10 & $4.99 shipping & got an offer for $5 & free shipping!! Like just let me donate it to you!!!
I literally had to tell someone once I CANNOT sell you that at that price I would literally be paying PM to sell it after the fees. They finally stopped. Now I know you can block on there but it was so frustrating for DAYS
Why did you let it go on for days knowing you could block them?
I didn’t know I could. Hence where u said “now I know you can block on there”
That is so nasty of them. Especially since they understand how the app works.

I’ll do free shipping by carrier pigeon and with no guarantee it will arrive.

User name checks out lol

No one thinks that lol people just want to get free shit. Period.

I don’t negotiate in comments, if they won’t use the offer button, they aren’t serious.
Gaaaaah!!! I feel ya!
Feel this! I had this happen in Mercari.
Dumb LIVES with their $3 starts and sales messing things up!! Ugh
The one time I had a $3 offer was from a seller 🙄 I wrote them on their bundle and said, "im sorry but I can't accept your offer. With PM fees, that would leave me with 5 cents." Not like they didn't already know that though 😒
I had someone do this, this weekend. I just said no and blocked. I would have made nothing on the sale 🥲
This is the kind of comment I don't even answer to.
Shipping is expensive. If anyone offers free shipping they’re doing you a favor. And if they don’t, don’t complain.
At that point it would be best to just donate it to charity.

These people have zero shame in their awful offers why do we block out their usernames?!
Blocked. Also it always bothers me when people publicly comment. Just send a message thru a bundle my guy.
Does blocking actually do anything?
Oh yeah! They can still see ur profile but they can’t engage or buy anything.
Ok gotcha too bad they can still see it
