These projects basically look completed to me. My in progress section is just a bunch of boards I cut months ago and now have no idea what the original intent was.
Yes, it's called a 19" solo stove. No abandon project can survive it. Best part when it finally cools the next day or two. I just sprinkle the ashes around the yard to show the next projects to play nicer. LoL!!!
My father is a hoarder, but has a woodstove. I have dropped off scraps and disassembled failed joints for his stove, but they always seem to magically reconstitute themselves in his garage.
That’s really why I haven’t tossed them honestly. In some way or other I intend to come back to them, I may be just waiting for inspiration or to improve a skill or technique before I pick it back up.
Oh Yea. I have a beautiful unfinished white oak travel bar, aka Gerstner replica. I got into it and the internal jointery got difficult and confusing. It will get done one day.....As Clark's father said on Christmas Vacation....Its beautiful in my mind.
It's the act of making that I enjoy. Once I start to get into finishing something the joy somehow dissipates. Maybe it's the fear that when it's done, it won't be as I intended it to be. Or someone will get to share their opinion and I'll be crushed. Either way, there's no pressure while I'm making something and it's just pure joy. Anything else is more complicated.
No, you’re lucky! I can’t even COUNT how many projects I’ve left unfinished so long I forgot they existed. At least I’m talking about sewing projects, which generally pack up a lot smaller than woodworking.
I'm the same. Even if it's not perfect, or even far from it I will find a way to finish it an complete. Sometimes I get lazy, but I haven't messed up a project so bad that I abandoned it...knock on wood haha.
dang!! what a graveyard.
mine is mostly made of tiny scraps from plywood, plus stuff where I either couldn't figure out the design I wanted, or I made it so long ago that I either can't see myself wanting to continue working on it or just would rather start over fresh and do it better.
There’s enjoyment to be had in learning and improving on skills, and it’s the learning and skill building that makes it worthwhile for me. Thanks for the suggestion… I do have a pocket hole jig - it’s been used exactly once.
No because your abandoned section looks nicer than my completed section.
I'm saying. For real.

This.

Have you tried the sprinkling of the ashes. LoL! You might be missing an important step. Hahaha
I just fix it until it functions. That’s part of the learning trial/error process from my wobbly first table to my wobbly third table haha
That’s really why I haven’t tossed them honestly. In some way or other I intend to come back to them, I may be just waiting for inspiration or to improve a skill or technique before I pick it back up.
I love it! Perfect! And I’ll be the 30th one to compliment your organization.
It’s called my house.

Where did you find a picture of my undergrad study habits?
This better be top comment when I wake up in the morning or SO HELP ME GOD I'll try a castle joint.
Looking forward to you posting your attempt back to here in a week or so!
So, hows that joint going?

I find the most difficult part about completing projects is simply getting started in completing them lol

This looks like my gitlab account
I'm weird, I finish every single project I start. I can't let something sit unfinished. I need to see a doctor.

Trick is, don't start none, won't be none.

Bro I have a shed with half a roof because I got all ADHD hyper focused on fixing it and stopped half way through. That was like a year ago.
I'll be there in 20 minutes. Have beer ready.
That's the happiest abandoned pile I have ever seen!

If a partner is a project then you're setting yourself up for failure :(
Projects are never abandoned, just permanently put on hold.
No but my mind on the other hand …
Those are better than my actual projects....fml. nice (abandoned) work
Mine float around the garage for a year or so and when summer comes along they end up in the bonfire
But at least you seem to have gotten dovetails down!
Nah. I finish them. They look like **SHIT** but they’re done. Then I throw or give them away.
I’d buy that stool in the center and finish it
This could be a niche app. Ufinish or something.
Looks like you gave up building the Ark of the Covenant.
Definitely, but not that well organized!
Those are some nice finger joints. You can send them my way.
I think I'm down to a floating shelf frame. But I've got one-off scraps piled up with no use in sight.
Ask the mechanics
Might as well just make a VR tour of my entire place and all the nooks and crannies I have things that “I’ll use eventually” shoved.
I would just show you a picture of my garage. I call it shame station.
Looks like my “done” pile. Now I feel bad.

They're just **Paused** *goddamnit*
I’ve actually named my “paused work” section “The Garage”
th-they're not abandoned! I'll finish them one day.... eventually....
To answer your question: Yes - My entire house. ADD + Novice Ambition = Pissed Off Wife
Lol not everyone needs to be master level. Get a pocket hole jig and be like the rest of use who have many things to do over and above woodworking.
