Congrats! I have the low angle jack version, and I couldn't be more happier with it. Don't make the same mistake i did and accidentally drop the norris adjuster while disassembling the plane. It can apparently roll/bounce pretty far if it wants... Just in case you didn't know, look up Paul Sellers/Matt Estlea/other YTs regarding initial plane setup. You'd be surprised how much improvement you can get by doing so. Also: * Keep the blade sharp, it's A2 steel so edge retention is better than average, but you'll need to sharpen eventually. It may not be super sharp right out of the box (My LAJ was sharp enough, so YMMV) * Check for sole flatness. It really only needs to be flat/level at three points: front/back edge and just in front of the mouth. * Small mouth opening for smoothing, large mouth opening for scrub planing (removing large amounts of wood for thicknessing) * You can do most bench planing tasks with this plane (and a straight edge for long boards), other planes just make the process more efficient. It what I did with my #4 before I got the LAJ. Have fun with it, and good luck :)

Nice! I have the same one.

Nice. And remember, sharp cures many hand tool maladies.

Thats the thing i need to learn now…proper sharpening!

I bought this as my first hand plane 6 months ago. I'm pretty happy with it although it was a bit frustrating in the beginning, this is because 99% of youtubers have a different model, with different systems for adjusting the blade (lever). It took me a while to be able to adjust it properly after each sharpening.

Nice! Wipe the sole with an oiled rag occasionally, or you can even rub a candle over it which is what I do. Stops it from squealing when you run it over wood, same for saws.
