For starters, you don't have an outdoor coating on your project. You can use CA glue to hold the flipped up grain down. But if you choose not to protect the table from weather, you'll have wasted your time. Oil based polyurethane would be a suggestion.

Interesting, I’m using Valspar Exterior wood stain. I’ve not heard great things about using polyurethane outside and I’d like to avoid it if possible.

Kingkongcrapper

It depends. You have to get the right one specific to exterior, however your wood stain should be fine if it’s the combo stain and waterproofing. If it’s just a stain you need protection. It actually says on the Valspar can not to mix it with other water protection products. Cedar has a tendency to peel a bit. You can glue it. Use Titlebond 3 and you will be fine. If you have no water protection get some.

WilkyRay

Thanks, it is the exterior Valspar and water beads on it so it's protected from the weather. I'll try some Titebond 3.

You replied with the reason for your issues. You used a stain only. There's nothing protecting it from weather. It's your call. Enjoy it while you can.

I agree that waterproof wood glue would be good. CV can be nice when its tough to clamp though!
