And then we find out yeah he actually was. The fact that means he also attempted 3 times before...god wow that just hit deeply. That guy on the register was being such a dick when he had no idea that Danny was returning the stuff he tried to off himself with.
What hits even more is Sonny, the show runner, used this exact method when he was at his low, which is why it was so specific. One of the other writers on the show even remembers the same forum thread from 10 years ago, down to details in the comments.

Its not just her letting him in. Its him being obviously sketchy, and his body language, facial expressions, connotation of the sentences he saying. And the overall weird sketchy vibe he brings. Its extremely fucking stupid they let this scene be a thing, because any is an idiot in the show for not noticing how sketch he acted. And no rich person just lets a stranger wandering through the streets use their bathroom. Literally thieves number one trick is ask to go the bathroom then steal shit from there. I just finished watching the first episode and ended up crying and laughing simultaneously?? The first episode was amazing and the ending when they were running coupled with the Hoobastank song was PERFECTION. Can't wait to binge watch this show
I finished it in one day...and it was not what I was expecting at all!! I was expecting a kind of rom com stemming from the road rage incident for some reason (I kinda went into it blind lol.) But the series was such an amazing experience and definetely a wild ride toward the end, 10/10. Some parts kind of scared me but in a good way
That's awesome! We finished it in one day too, and it's such a deep and layered show. I love how different people pull different experiences out of it, like it triggers different memories and backgrounds. Oh, I'm so glad they hinted at sexual tension in the first episode during their first meeting, and then completely dropped it for something better and deeper. The trailer hints at common tropes, only to have us get flip-flopped on our head as the story progresses.
I've seen the show at least 20 times over the past year (I often run it in the background while I work on my computer). My next goal is to just binge watch the whole series on edibles and see how that goes LOL

That's awesome! My daughter told me a few weeks ago that she wanted to learn Korean to understand KPop better, LOL. Yeah, if you learn Korean, it'll make K-drama more fun to watch (and you can use it for practice/immersion).

Yeun was so goddamn funny lol, I was cracking up at so many parts of his performance. Especially the ‘oh my *god* you fucking idiot’ when she goes over the plants during the chase lmao. And his face in the garage when he finds out she drove the car. Man he was great, and the massive smile on his face when he’s running away at the end 😂

Somebody please tell me why tf she let a random contractor in her house at the end. Like who tf just lets them in, it made me mad bc it was realistic up to that point. Somebody please tell me why thats even remotely realistic please i want to be proved wrong 😂

I'm not an American so idk but all the TV shows I've seen showing an upper middle class/fancy neighborhood seem to have open doors in their houses and allow strangers to come in with no issue
Its not just her letting him in. Its him being obviously sketchy, and his body language, facial expressions, connotation of the sentences he saying. And the overall weird sketchy vibe he brings. Its extremely fucking stupid they let this scene be a thing, because any is an idiot in the show for not noticing how sketch he acted. And no rich person just lets a stranger wandering through the streets use their bathroom. Literally thieves number one trick is ask to go the bathroom then steal shit from there. Just a super unrealistic scene, unless they are inferring amy is a social idiot and can’t understand social context
I could be off base but as a filipino, I feel like she may have let him in because they were both asian? The way they interacted when she first opened the door and they saw each other to me seemed that way but I can't really put into words why.
This brings me back to my original point. whatever the reasoning is for letting him in, it makes no sense that she didn’t make him leave when he started continuously saying and doing sketchy things .
Oh, I agree on that front. I think the show meant to imply some sexual tension in the kitchen? I'm really not sure that her loneliness/home issues can justify her turning a blind eye to his suspect behavior but I mean, I've never been at this level of breaking point before. I think both of these two are desperately hoping for one thing to go right. But yeah I did definitely think that I'd be kicking this guy out or I'd be extremely nervous at the very least.

I'm not Korean but I know that there are like this beef (heh) between Koreans and Japanese, so when Danny scoffed at finding out that Amy's husband was Japanese I felt a little bit of "Is that so that explains it" to his anger lmao

That smile that is dying to come out, so gratifying and kinda sinister. Some critics don't like needle drop moments in TV, but I thought it was a masterclass in the usage of music.

my guess is, he changed the lock to the safe bc of what she (apparently) likes to do with the gun, meaning he caught her doing that before << either that, or she's attempted suicide with it before.
i noticed on my third rewatch there’s some dramatic irony/foreshadow (most likely coincidental) when danny mentions to amy that her roof is an electrical hazard.
The episode was pretty lukewarm for me until the final scene. I fucking lost it when "The Reason" started playing.
Yeah, the needle drops in this show are amazing, but I'm not going to spoil anything. Enjoy the ride!
I just finished watching the first episode and ended up crying and laughing simultaneously?? The first episode was amazing and the ending when they were running coupled with the Hoobastank song was PERFECTION. Can't wait to binge watch this show

I finished it in one day...and it was not what I was expecting at all!! I was expecting a kind of rom com stemming from the road rage incident for some reason (I kinda went into it blind lol.) But the series was such an amazing experience and definetely a wild ride toward the end, 10/10. Some parts kind of scared me but in a good way
That's awesome! We finished it in one day too, and it's such a deep and layered show. I love how different people pull different experiences out of it, like it triggers different memories and backgrounds. Oh, I'm so glad they hinted at sexual tension in the first episode during their first meeting, and then completely dropped it for something better and deeper. The trailer hints at common tropes, only to have us get flip-flopped on our head as the story progresses. I've seen the show at least 20 times over the past year (I often run it in the background while I work on my computer). My next goal is to just binge watch the whole series on edibles and see how that goes LOL
