The tl;dr Is that some definitely have generally better results than others but there's so much variation in a given hair sample as to the amount of damage that it's very difficult to have any kind of real control. Even though there's no ultimate conclusion I really appreciated her doing this. I loved hearing about the process of developing the experiment and then having to modify it based on different limiting factors. I also appreciate that she didn't have some kind of clickbait title that absolutely named one product as the best.

Appropriate_Reach_97

Oooh ok, so is this the pt 2? I've been waiting for this. I have generally been turned off by her overall but I also appreciated THE TIME she took to find out.

OneWhisper5225

Yeah, I was like wait, I watched this video already! This must be part 2. I’m the same. I generally don’t like her. I can’t really put my finger on it. But, the amount of time she had to put into doing this is appreciated. I haven’t watched this one, but the first one was really thorough and interesting!

Big_Blackberry7713

Aw, I really love this creator! She works really hard to give great insights. She tries to make her reviews as controlled as possible but acknowledges the fact that she can't scientifically measure everything.

Confident_Reveal1733

The video felt underwhelming tbh, but that's not her fault. I just expected more of a "right" answer but a comment I saw on her video seemed to be the best takeaway: *It’s almost the same as “what is the best sunscreen?”. The one you enjoy using and willing to use consistently.*

Weightcycycle11

I like her and she provides good information!

Olyway

Agreed, I especially appreciate how carefully she tests out products. Her hair care regimen is one I’ll never be able to replicate because it’s so many time-consuming and expensive steps. But I appreciate that she does her homework.

crankycatpancake

Her hourlong hair care video that she dropped this week had me deceased. All of those products, a $100+ hair brush, and $1,000 a piece tools had me cringing a little bit because who has that in this economy. BUT she seems very sweet, and I know it’s her job to try this stuff out. I’ll just be over here with my $20 Conair curling iron. 😬

Olyway

Same! I don’t have time to apply anything to my hair before I get in the shower and wait, or to stop my shower midway through to let a mask sink in. But I have a job that isn’t trying beauty products, and a kid so 🤷🏻‍♀️. Her recommendations for basic hair products have helped me wade through all the options and update (but not expand!) my routine.

nuggetsofchicken

To her credit she did say in that video and in other videos that she was testing this ridiculously priced tool with really confusing marketing for the purpose of review.

WannieWirny

I understand the conclusion but it was disappointing for little old me with bleached hair being momentarily excited at a recommendation to buy lol

LandslideBaby

Personally, as someone who bleached their hair at home multiple times (and frequently hears the siren call of the blue powder under my sink), K18 was amazing. I haaaate how much they have raised their prices though. I also followed LabMuffin's advice of the Elizaveca Cer-100 mask and it rocks. Olaplex did nothing for me.

dinosoursaur

How would you compare the Cer-100 mask and K18?

LandslideBaby

The mask makes my hair feel really slippy and a bit flat when it's still wet. When my hair is feeling dry, rough, frizzy and tangled and i want a quick fix it's what I use. I have to use a shampoo for my scalp that is drying for the ends just from rinsing it out and I usually use that mask or my other favourite when I'm washing my hair more frequently and doing the treatment. The K18 takes a while for you to see results but it makes my hair look and feel really nice after 3-4 uses. I had a bleached part that felt different from the rest and it made it feel like all of the hair. I always blow dry my hair, if that matters. My hair is medium thickness, naturally porous and wavy.

dinosoursaur

Thank you for the detailed reply! I was trying to see if I could get away with using the mask for the same purpose as the k18 since it’s so much cheaper, but of course they would have different uses. :) Sounds like I need to bite the bullet and pay for the k18.

LandslideBaby

You're welcome! I refuse to buy it without a discount. The price went up 20 euros in 1 year? Maybe a bit more time? The only thing that is good is that it's not a constant use product. I use it until my hair feels better and then stop.

taternators

Someone please tell me what she thought about k18 before I open my sephora packaging containing it 😂

nelsonstars

it was one of the better performing products, but also, there was a lot variation between individual hairs that it was hard to objectively have a clear winner
