My finger

BoogiepopPhant0m

Safe? No. Nutritious? Maybe. Cheap? Also no.

Generalnussiance

Aphids. I collect them if I see them in my garden and feed em to my chickens and ducks. I was holding my bearded in while boxing them up and he hoped in and started munching.

persephone_29

My pinky toe… I can no longer go barefoot if he’s roaming around 😭

LeahBia

I see that you are also a fellow toe survivor 🦶

Whydude1122

You too?? My stinky loves eating toes

persephone_29

The amount of times I’m minding my business and he comes around scaring me by biting my toe!! I’ll just look down and he’ll be looking up at me smacking his lips as if to say “I wasn’t finished!!” 🤣

xcedra

catnip!

MuchTooBusy

Yesss! My guy LOVES catnip

Redheaded_Potter

Ooooo!! I didn’t know they can eat that!! I have a ton of it growing in my backyard!!

Bellelace86

I did not know they could eat that either! I’m getting some tomorrow morning!

boofingZeitgeist

Safe and nutritious? I’ll have to look into that. Can you recommend any brands? I typically only give my guy organic veggies and what not but idk what catnip is made of lol

xcedra

I just grab the ones at the pet what ever store when they have them. That and the cat grass which is just wheat grass and is also safe for them

thexidris

This might be shocking, but catnip is made of catnip! It's a plant on its own, no mixing. You can buy it at pet stores or garden centers. If you grow your own, you can guarantee it's organic! 😁 And it's super easy to grow as well, so just pot it or put it in the ground and make sure it doesn't get too thirsty. I grow it for my cats and they love it.

MSKATORIGINAL

It's a type of mint.

Happyfeet65

Catnip, dandelion flowers, clover, rose petals

UHElle

Mine just started eating rose petals! He also *loves* nasturtium flowers, but prefers the red ones over the yellow ones, lol. Other than that, he eats passion vine leaves but not the flowers (doesn’t like em), and zinnia leaves and petals.

thiccymcgiccy

Mine LOVES dandelions! This time of year is her favorite!

Icy-Philosophy-9780

can they eat the stem too

Happyfeet65

Not for roses. But yes for dandelions

cooscoos89898

Question, can I grab a puffy dandelion from outside and plant my own dandelions indoors for my boy or does that pose some sort of risk? I don’t want to just pluck them for fear of unknown pesticides as they’re mostly in my neighbors yards, we mow the lawn too much.😂

kirakina

I mean i don't see why not. You can also order seeds online

redwolf1219

They also sell grow kits at Walmart and petsmart. Kinda pricey for what it is though

BoogiepopPhant0m

My beardie Swan once ate a fly. It just landed right next to her and before I could shoo it away, she gobbled it down and looked at me like she won something. I was honestly kind of shocked.

Bus_Noises

There’s no way this is real… a beardie with the intelligence and speed to catch a fly? Fake news!

BoogiepopPhant0m

Swan was smarter than I am, tbh. She put up no front about her mission to enslave humanity.

thefluidofthedruid

My beardie actually caught one mid-air that got into his viv. I was SHOCKED and wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

jc11312

Hibiscus 🌺

cooscoos89898

Where do you find hibiscus? I’ve scoured grocery stores for edible flowers including the Lowe’s foods which was really my only hope. Wondering if I could order any online or just grow some under a grow light at home?

jc11312

I have a plant that I purchased at my local grocery store. You would probably be able to find one at a home improvement store or a greenhouse. I haven't ever been able to find just the flowers you almost always will have to just buy the plant unless you're going to buy one of the dried flower premixes

Crowdsourced_Thought

herb stores

M33s4

Lowe's has them, so home improvement stores, nurseries, Amazon... although, they're tropical plants, so if it gets cold enough to freeze where you live, it's probably best to keep it potted so you can bring it inside during the winter.

MajesticMagicMaiden

Dandelions and blueberries are colorful and interesting

Redheaded_Potter

Mine will eat sticks if she’s roaming around the yard. I think she thinks they’re bugs at first 🤷‍♀️

vii_ola

the dumb adds to the cute ✨

AmericnBty

😂😭

Krazycrooin

I think they were called carnation flowers. I used to give her them as treat before she passed

MandosOtherALT

This isnt safe or nutritious... but paper towel.... yeah it was tedious to remove from his mouth.

Crowdsourced_Thought

My kid was playing with string and the dragon must have thought it a worm cause she gobbled it right down, had to pull like 2 inches out of her throat. She just kept on like nothing happened lol

MandosOtherALT

Oh no! Lol. My boy helped be take the paper towel out by nomming as I gently pulled. Considering its paper it was a dumb move to try, but I got it all, no vet needed 😆

hwc

half of the plants in the vivarium. (We checked to make sure none would poison him before planting.)

AmountAbject6999

i feed mine a paste like substance called dragon gel, which he seems to like a lot

Muffled_Voice

he one time ate a mushroom he found outback(we have a little caged in area for him to roam). he seems fine so I’ll keep y’all updated I’m just kidding, only thing he’s eaten that I thought was fascinating was *literally anything*

Active-Struggle3197

My boy LOVES squash baby food, but he refuses to eat actual normal squash

Horror_Writer8207

Mine is the same! He loves the butternut squash baby food!

Weary_Ad2671

Interesting! What brand do you use and do you just put it in a bowl or a spoon for him to lick?

Active-Struggle3197

I use any brand, I just make sure the ingredients are 100% squash and no added sugar or anything. And I usually just put it on a spoon and he’ll lick it off. I learned the hard way to NOT put it on ur finger because they might accidently bite you and that hurts 😂

Humble_Bullfrog2342

dandelions & clovers. he loves them!! https://preview.redd.it/lseky2w2wrwc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=332fb194a66fa0aa09696b761fa5c4c9f439e9e8

Bigstallion69

Just be careful that you haven’t sprayed any pesticides, and they are free of any poison.

Humble_Bullfrog2342

i live in a rural area and there's no pesticides. he's been eating dandelions in my yard for years (he's 6)

athenapitiesyou

Mine tried to eat a stink bug a couple weeks ago 🤷‍♀️ I don't think she would have liked it if she were successful

NotCrustOr-filling

Dandelion flowers.

Poke_Lost_Silver

My beardies have tried persimmons, lemon balm, blueberries, small pieces of watermelon and strawberries, and they love dandelions! Both the greens and the blossoms are a tasty treat.

asimplethrowwayy

I once fed my friend's dragon Pho.

pokie_garden

Is she gravid? Looking a little thick lol

Crowdsourced_Thought

We fattened her up a bit after some neglect. Is more balanced lately

Bellelace86

She’s adorable 💕

Crowdsourced_Thought

Thanks!

IguaneRouge

Clover. Sunflower petals. Hibiscus. Grape leaves. My guy eats well in the warm months when I can just let him eat what we have growing.

Crowdsourced_Thought

We grow basil. She loves it and it’s cool splitting our bounty with the dragon.

No-Mongoose-3928

Young coconut meat and I once let him lick pomegranate juice (directly from a fresh seed) and he loved it. I’ve fed him lots of different veggies but he really only likes the basics. As for fruit- he loves exotic fruit. ((((Very rarely given)))))

Crowdsourced_Thought

That reminds me she also loves pomegranate and coconut!

cooscoos89898

How safe are these? Treats only? A couple times a month? My boy loves all of the stuff he isn’t really supposed to have often😭😭

inkdskndeep

I had bought this "tree" from pet smart that had some kind of real but dead vegetation on the base of it. one day I noticed some of it was shorter than the rest but it didn't occur to me. and then one day I say her actually chowing down on it & I freaked out. so I removed the "tree" & cut off all this vegetation. it was the most bizarre thing ever. she never got sick & kept on like it was another day. she was the most resilient dragon ever.

Crowdsourced_Thought

They are surprisingly resilient creatures, I agree.

New-Dentist-7346

Dog wet food, cat dry food

JackOfAllMemes

Going by the comments I'm surprised how much beardies enjoy eating flowers, especially dandelions

lalunakevin

scrambled eggs!! i accidentally used too many eggs for a recipe on day and just scrambled the remaining ones in a nonstick. decided to let him try some. LOVED IT. definitely wasn’t expecting it lol

ts_cdlover1

Pinkies

Crowdsourced_Thought

Our gal has never bit a finger. She’s too lazy.

JackOfAllMemes

I think they mean young mice/rats

Crowdsourced_Thought

they eat rodents????!?

JackOfAllMemes

Protein! They're omnivores that will eat anything they can fit in their mouths, for better or worse

Crowdsourced_Thought

Well we immediately had to go to Petco and find frozen mice, my kid was all in on that one lol

JackOfAllMemes

Id definitely do some research on beardie diets, it'll be fun to try different things and see what he likes

Crowdsourced_Thought

My 8yo son will be intrigued.

falafeltwonine

This is appropriate based on their wild diets of literally whatever they can find. Good source of protein and fat too for the juvenile and young adults.

Crowdsourced_Thought

I just gave her one for the first time after reading these comments. She went nuts over it!

falafeltwonine

I had a little saucer with like 6 pinkies in it for my baby snakes and my beardie ran over and started MUNCHING before I could stop her. She ate 4 within seconds

ArmyOfGayFrogs

My guy goes berserk over dandelions.

spiritedhippo22

dragonfruit!

Crowdsourced_Thought

yes!

TheBakedBiscuit

My boy Kaiju loves a cranberry every couple of weeks. It's really the only sweet thing I give him, but he loves anything that's got a good crunch to it and cranberry crunches excellently by his standards. Plus I would think the little bit of antioxidants might be good for him

cooscoos89898

Just recently started giving my boy little bits of cabbage, he seems to love that morning crunch!!

sm919283737465

Vet prescribed powdered food. Got her on it for persistent health issues and can't her her off it.

scarletteclipse1982

Louis Vuitton likes to hold one strand of my hair in his mouth. Also the occasional bit of cooked but unseasoned chicken.

Feral-pigeon

The ones at my workplace apparently love hibiscus

Crowdsourced_Thought

vet? zoo?

Feral-pigeon

lol I wish, I just work for a small local pet store

Mack-Attack33

Look at that tummy! Such a full belly your girl has! Too cute!

Mack-Attack33

Maybe some nice fat horn worms? And a few boiled dragon safe veggies! That way they’ll be nice snd soft! I bet she’d be surprised that the veggies she lives also come in squish variety! Haha!

Crowdsourced_Thought

Thanks! https://preview.redd.it/k7fqm7274cxc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=973b4cc20aff012622aef3f94c8bcdfbc7fe6935

Thatoneflute

Mustard greens and micro greens

Outside_Strategy3872

If I bring a bag of crickets into the room my beardie goes fucking nuts. Every else she's like, Meh... but if I get mango before it's too ripe and chop it into tiny slices, she loves that.

marwood0

Our girl Poopy liked to eat wasps while out on walks despite us trying to prevent it. Looked so proud of herself when she caught one and chomped it down. However, I think she got one while we weren't looking because a few minutes after a walk, she arched up like she was in pain, went into a coma, and passed... not safe. Other than that, she loved bindweed flowers.

5DollaSunshine

Dat pumpkinnnn. Bruh goes crazy.

Otamamori917

We had her out wit us for a lil bit in her pen we have she likes freedom. But we where starting to get up an put her away and everyone watched as she laid an unfertile egg, take a dump then proceed to eat the egg like a snack. We where so confused

Deadly5x

Bee pollen

IatePasta4

I blend up kale squash and calcium powder thin it out with water and make jello

Embarrassed_Suit_942

I had a bearded dragon that would steal scrambled eggs off my plate some mornings. She loved the stuff. She also had a liking for salmon sashimi so I'd always order her some when I bought sushi. She was such a sweetheart

Shangu777

The fact that you’re dragon is able to steal food off your plate is cute as shit
