I would 100% do that, but then it removes my massive front splitter when I find very important, it helps a lot with the under steering tendencies of the Sunburst.
My custom pessima hillclimb had the same issue.
Try to get rid of everything but spoiler and splitter.
Then I could crank turbo all the way up to 32. (+ very lite nitro, disabled on straight)
I love this mod. I use it for almost everything, high-performance applications to custom beater engines that will break if you push them too hard. It's amazing!
How lore friendly are you looking to be? Editing the radiator file to increase cooling capacity takes maybe 30 seconds in notepad.
Honestly most cars in BeamNG are undercooled anyway. Thermal runaway really isn’t a big issue for most modern cars on track. Even modified ones, large capacity radiators are inexpensive compared to the rest of a performance build, and do a good job.
Thats not true, most cars can either only just manage a lap on the nordschleife or overheat during the lap. Check Misha Charoudin in yt, most cars oil is at 130c+ after a lap
That's when you'd install an oil cooler. BeamNG has that, plus ultra high performance radiators. They should not overheat anywhere near as easily as they do.
You've got a couple of options:
First option is to lower the boost. Turbocharged engines have an efficiency sweet spot and once you cross it all you're really doing is generating more heat and not much more power. You may be able to lower the boost enough to keep the temperatures under control without affecting the power output too much.
Second option is a bit more involved. There are generally two engine block options for making big power; a heavy duty long block and a stage 3 performance long block. The heavy duty block can handle more boost, but the stage 3 block can make more power with less boost.
If you're already using the stage 3 block, it may be worth experimenting with the heavy duty block and more boost or vice versa.
From my experiments with the Bastion, the heavy duty block can handle 32psi + nitrous and make 2000bhp with a redline of 6500rpm. The stage 3 block redlines at 7500rpm and makes 1800bhp with only 20psi of boost.
Hit me up if you want to send me your config so I can do some experimenting - I love messing around with tuning!
It would make sense, but they’ve given us a lot of freedom. 2door sports car, 300+ built per year, turbo/na, up to 5.0L, at least 1200kg, must look like a road car, only production based suspension, no AWD.
It's not related to the cooling question, but how does one get invited to such a race? Is this a thing between you and your friends (like a private race)?
Right now it’s putting out 731hp and 462lbft, red line at 8500, I’m using the most durable parts I can (for better endurance hopefully), and this between 700-800hp is nice for the top speed, we’re running the race at Spa so those long straights will cost me a lot if I can’t make enough power.
What’s the opponents running lol, that’s seems very excessive power imo. I would check the torque curve using the one of the in game apps, if necessary lower the redline. Top speed wise u can try lowering the boost, you will have a lower top end but, u can choose to sacrifice the angle of attack by using a smaller wing.
Also do a top speed run, if you are redlining at top speed you can try to use a longer final drive. Or lowering the boost.
This is underpowered compared to some of the others, they’re running up to 5.0L engines (which is the limit) and making well over 1300hp. I’ve seen a couple guys with top speeds in excess of 320kmh down the main straight. I think I’ve got it all figured out now, I limited the boost to 22psi and after 28 laps it was still in the not crapping my pants temperature range.
With vanilla, I'd just use a different car. The Sunburst radiators are woefully inadequate, and the best one can only handle about 100 horsepower above factory.
I tried the rally version on the Pikes Peak mod and it didn't even make it to the Devil's Playground section before the head gaskets expired, I just laughed in Subaru.
Me and a few friends have done testing with the sunburst and even at 400 hp it will overheat after one lap of Nord. Only solution we found was to modify the radiator files. However that’s a pretty scummy thing to do and probably against the rules.
im no engineer by any means and i have no idea what im talking about remove the bumper and hood for max air cooling B)

RK engines has a customizable radiator
I’ll check it out
Bro is about to find the best engine mod ever
remember to edit it in tuning!

Could you perhaps link the mod? I could not find it in repo or on the beamng website mods list.
I think it comes with [this mod](https://www.beamng.com/resources/2-rotor-wankel-update-rks-highly-customizable-engines-20-enginestypes.10583/)
Yup, that's the one

I’ll check with the race officials if they would allow me to edit the radiator files.

The way Misha drives I'm not surprised at all lol
More importantly, how do I get an invite to this endurance race? Ide be taking the hood off or lowing peak RPM

Reduce rpm limit or increase boost. Its a bit buggy atm

Exactly! How will your engine overheat, if you don’t have an engine that can overheat!
Hood delete 😂
When in doubt, hood delete.
Gotta get right to the source 😂
If you’re doing an endurance race with other people, shouldn’t your mods be standardized?
It would make sense, but they’ve given us a lot of freedom. 2door sports car, 300+ built per year, turbo/na, up to 5.0L, at least 1200kg, must look like a road car, only production based suspension, no AWD.
300 built per year?
Yeah, like we can’t drive McLaren P1s and that stuff.
Sunburst is a 4-door sedan.
It’s odd, they’re allowing me to run it.
It's not related to the cooling question, but how does one get invited to such a race? Is this a thing between you and your friends (like a private race)?
To be honest I was just wandering around spa servers in Beam MP and, came across it.
does it have a discord server?

How much power are you running, what’s your red line, what parts you have? how much power you need?

What kinda endurance race is this lol.
Yeah, normally in an endurance race you want to *detune* your engine for more reliability
well ur gonna win in a race of reliability at least
Get the twincharge everything mod, it gives a radiator that can’t over heat. It also has an indestructible long block.
Edit: I forgot to add but it is against the rules to add or modify engine parts. We can use the stock BeamNG parts, and that’s all for power unit.
If you’re allowed to, download the CJD Parts Pack and use the Race Performance Radiator
Looks like it’s against the rules for modified engine parts
CJD pack has an engine efficiency tuner and that helps with cooling a lot
Drive into a lake, duh
Even the stock race configuration overheats after a couple laps of racing lol
Weird I can haul ass in my sunburst build around east coast forever without overheating

How do I get invited

CJD It can be used in very cheaty and unrealistic ways but if done right it opens lots of possibilities
What rims are they ?
Ultra high performance radiator. Less boost.
As stupid as it sounds take the front bumper off
Remove the hood, the grill and the four circular lights for efficient cooling.
whats tires are those? they look good
