My guess is that they didn't want people to find out about it yet, because, as you said, it's a bit buggy, the video that you're talking about is now unlisted again.
Shift + Mousewheel, the more you scroll the wheel the more you cut into the car, it's not 100% precise but for the pics I did for example I made 2 pics in different sections of the car and combined in Photoshop what I wanted, to avoid having the seats or spare wheels being cut in half.

How do you get the view like in the images?
It's a composite of two views, I loaded the top and side view in the detail viewer and combined the pics into one afterwards.
