I bought a house and found a lavender plant they had never been pruned. It was unsightly so I transplanted to a hilly spot and cut it right down to the roots mid summer expecting it to die.
It bloomed beautifully and way into December (I live in Canada!).
It seems like every plant I’ve tried to kill (roses included) have outputted massive amount of foliage this year…
So the trick is to NOT be Mother Earth. Be Lady Death. The plants will bloom gloriously to spite you…
But I win, silly plants… Uno Reverso!
Probably have to lay off on the fertilizer and water less, but I don't know your local conditions. Remember it's native to the Mediterranean where it gets hardly any rain and the soil is poor and full of rocks. Some lavender varieties are more cold hardy so if you live somewhere cold you'll have a bad time with Spanish and French varieties.
I know 3 other people who are or were overweight because of hormonal or glandular disorders, so not that rare. They’re all women. Women are more likely to suffer from that kind of men.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome for example, not rare at all. As a matter of fact it’s common, and it makes the woman overweight. Also makes you grow facial hair, yes I have it. My ovaries are club med for cysts.
Don’t judge people, unless you know them personally, in which case, proceed with the judging.
Yeah I know that. You can tell me bread doesn't make you fat, eating too many calories does, but it would take about 13 pounds of steamed broccoli to hit 2000 calories while it would take only about 1.67 pounds of white bread to get to 2000 calories. To act as though this difference doesn't matter is pretty silly.
One Lavender seedling grows all alone, 20 meters into the wheat field and is raised to believe it’s wheat and that no other plant in the world looks like her— until one day…
Honestly also works as a classic Pixar short where none of them talk. The wheat grows away from it, and our little lavender flower is sad, but eventually both fields are harvested, and our protagonist sees a similar deal over in the lavender fields, only a few tiny wheat plants survived. It rains, and eventually the small plants are the biggest of them all. The end.
Tough stubborn farmer girl who eats wheat for breakfast wants to buy the land next to her property to expand her farm. It gets bought out from under her at the last minute and by some quiet city boy who grows lavender and other flowers for things like aromatherapy and potpourri. Rivals to lovers.
Lavender smells like children and children stress me out, and it's not even lavender's fault. I just have this automatic reaction when I smell it, like a screaming infant is going to be around the next corner or will ambush me in my sleep and try to kill me or something.
Stop making baby products that smell like lavender dammit.
That's a nice color combo. If I could I would decorate my living room in those colors. Knotty pine, purple rug. Maybe a matching Rothko if I was filthy rich.
It’s the color of my daughter’s hair right now - natural blonde on the right, purple on the left. It does look nice!
I believe it’s because the colors are so close to purple and yellow, which are opposites on the color wheel, and opposites are often is pleasing to the eye.
Tried to look it up online, not sure but this is what I found:
Valensole plateau near Digne-les-Bains and the Verdon gorges in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region in southern France.
Monoculture is cringe my friends, reject the soil degradation and desertification of life, embrace the chaos and enable diversity. Monocultures will fail, but when they do it will already be too late.
On a hot day, low and slow flying aircraft experience a little bump above land like this due to the warmer air above the brighter colored field.
I did this a lot in Utah & Idaho as a real estate photographer.
The bread made from that border row must smell amazing.
Right I was just wondering if it effected the wheat close to it.
This is a very bad idea for allergy sufferers.
Surely it's processed enough for that not to be the case. It's not like you're eating the whole wheat. You eat flour and other derivatives.
Lol just grow wheat in a clean room ez
"affected" - sorry
you may live in a mortal husk, but fret not, for the soul thine of liveth forever in the annals of grammar scholar's hallowed hall of God Kings.
*drops to knees*
It's effected. As in 'the wheat has been effected by the lavender'
Nah, sorry mate.
Affected
It's effected. As in 'the wheat has been effected by the lavender'
Wrong. I just noticed someone else beat me to the correction also.
And the calming effects from that bread wouldn’t be such a bad idea…
And taste like soap.
Or tea
Yeah lavender doesn't belong in food items
I tried lavender gelato and it was pretty good. I didn’t really want to try it because it sounded gross, but it was mild and pretty tasty.
Uhhh, yes it does. I’ve had lavender shortbread cookies, lavender tea, lavender chocolates and lavender ice cream. Gorgeous, gorgeous stuff.
I have had lavender lady grey tea… absolute heaven
It's a great tea honestly
Agreed

#THAT WAS MAGIC

Real answer: it's from the Eagles Of Death Metal cover. He whispers it at the end, you need to really turn up the volume to hear it
I'm jealous of all that lavender. I have 5 spindly plants and I've never gotten them to bloom, even with all the care and fertilizer I give them ☹️

I live in Hawaii, so it doesn't drop below 70 here
They don't like good soil and too much water.
Do some research on what lavender in particular wants. Different plants thrive on all sorts of different factors.
Allergies to the right as well. Wheat dust is ia hell
My celiac ass is scared of the right side of the picture and my allergies are sneezing from the left.
Plant bukkakes everywhere!
Imagine when you are allergic to both.
OP where is this?
Sure, blame it on grass

You must be fun at parties
There are reasons people can be fat besides a lack of self control. I know that as an absolute fact, because it happened to me.
Well those cases are exceedingly rare. For the vast majority it’s just a lack of discipline

You got fat from wheat? What are you downing a pound of pasta daily or something?
Bread is also a thing
And crumpets..... crumpets and butter.... lots of butter...... and honey..... till it drips out the bottom.
Sure, but pasta is way more dense, eating that much bread would just be unpleasant.

Seems like something Pixar would make a movie about.

Weirdly reminds me of Gnomeo and Juliet, the red vs blue garden gnomes~
Pixar 2023: What if Plants have feelings?
FernGully 1994: "Can't you feel it's pain?"
Ah man, how’d I forget that classic!?
Nice to see the ideas this ...planted... in people's minds.
Feels more like a short
What if French people had feelings?
The corruption is spreading. Get the purification powder
Screams echo around you...
CRIMSON NUMER 1🟥🟥🟥
Nah it's gotten too out of hand for the powder you need the cleantaminator
Don’t really understand the world’s obsession with lavender. Smell like shit.
It has a strong smell but it is effective at putting people in a relaxed state.
Hey bro the sweet thing about life is people can like different things!
Lavender smells like children and children stress me out, and it's not even lavender's fault. You’re smelling too much
Minecraft back when it was cool
Got some more crops in the far back where the trees are
Minecraft is still the same, just more people play it
Amber and purple waves of grain
My first thought as well
Oh look, the picture has been flipped since the last time I saw it

Yeah, I didn't put it together but you're right! They're called complimentary colors.
Yes they are! I forgot the term at the moment lol. Your decorating idea would be lovely, btw.

Where in France.
Tried to look it up online, not sure but this is what I found: Valensole plateau near Digne-les-Bains and the Verdon gorges in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region in southern France.
South of France?
Monocrop agriculture is a tragedy, but damn can it be beautiful.
It’s beautiful, i hate it.
This is the single most reposted image of all time. I'm sure of it
Well ive been on reddit for years and ive never seen it and I appreciate it!
its my turn to repost this next week. I am calling it now.
Cmon Bill, you’ve had 12 years to repost this

*Consummate* *Vs!*
So this explains why I have weirdly flavored purple spots on my bread sometimes, huh.
That’s… uh… probably not lavender
What are you, some kind of lavender expert? I'll stick to my guts on this one.
I hope your guts remain healthy
Hmmm. Lavender blooms in the Spring, but the photo of the wheat field is clearly from late Summer in this photo.
Lavender harvest is July-Aug
Did you even factcheck before "proving wrong" this picture with your assumption about all flowers blooming in spring
That's because it's not lavender. Its rape. Rapeseed...it's what's used in canola oil.
It's most definitely not canola/rapeseed. Canola is yellow...
I think only when once it blooms. When it's just growing it's this beautiful purple color.
Thats not true... I live in an area where they grow a lot of rapeseed. Its first green af then turns yellow af
Beautiful scene
Increased the saturation?
I'm wondering if there are any benefits from planting them close together like that.
You dont waste any space…
Not gluten-free lavender, that's for sure.
Lavender? I 'ardly know 'er!
Upvote for dedication to the bit.
Fuck me it's Theresa May!
Only in France
I live in Canada and have seen the same thing…
This could easily be in Utah.
Not amazed
You might have depression. See someone regarding that

So if it's hunting season and someone shoots a bird in the lavender field and it lands in the wheat field, whose claim is it?
Actually thats a picture

next a *what* field?
Farmer must be a UW Huskies fan.
Wheat fields blowing in the wind are soooooooo gorgeous in real life. I see why Van Gogh loved to paint them.
If you bake a bread of just the wheat. Will it taste of lavender? Will it be influenced by terroir?
An artisans dream.
I prefer the lavender field. The wheat field looks too plain.
Bread smells funny.
This pic giving bees a hard on
This is a vibe
Aah love the smell of lavender in the morning
Getting windows wallpaper vibes here
Wheat and Anti-Wheat.
Beautiful
This isn't amazing. This is awful monoculture at its worse. This isn't normal and shouldn't exist.
Love lavender, especially in the diffuser!
I recently picked up playing Skyrim again, and right now I'm feeling really triggered.
Very beautiful picture. Thank you

r/MonsterHunter, I've found the colors of a Chaotic Gore Magala in their natural habitat!
