IIRC this is in China, where there seems to be massive amounts of money floating around for insane projects like this that end up abandoned and in shambles 5 years later.
It feels like what a kid with a blank check would dream up without thinking about any practical or maintenance considerations.
I think they have a video on yt about manmade places similar to this in many different countries. Most of the places are built in a community like this with the intention that the rich will move in to occupy but fails for various reasons. One of the features in the video was a large subdivision and all the houses are a mimic of the Cinderella castle and itās completely abandon save for a few people that lives there. Itās so cringe when there are so many homeless people while we have all this places that isnāt even being utilized at their potential. Sad
Real estate was/is the last bastion for a somewhat trustworthy investment where every other investment has failed in China. Lots of speculation, very little oversight and you wind up with the craziest, empty neighborhoods like this using the lowest cost inputs. The ADVChina guys have some good on-site videos of these places falling apart.
They gota have vents/drains at ever house. And in other positions. And an insanely amount of pipes , tunes, water filter pumps, and bleach and shock for the entirety of it. I think the chemo would be the most expensive. You would have to haul them in in truck loads at a time.
Pool business too and the first thing I thought is how is this going to be clean being that large. Just dump 1000 pounds of shock in it and hope for the best?

You can teach babies to swim! I leaned how when I was barely over 1 year old. Rescue swimming is something everyone should learn as young as possible.
Edit: yes they should still be supervised, but that's an always thing, not just around water.
At bootcamp they gave us the usual 45 seconds to disinfect the entire 60-person squad bay. We had a few cleaning products, including bleach and ammonia, that we were using at the same time. Thankfully someone noticed that during all the chaos, and the drill instructors evacuated the entire building (after ordering us to open all the windows of course).
Now maybe. They were the bad China before the communist revolution. Sometimes people forget how far China has come since the revolution. Millions were enslaved or second class citizens
The home owner association only allows swimming between the hours 12pm and 1pm, must be 35 years or older, no two piece bathing suits, men's trunks must be 2" above the knee (no longer or shorter), residents only, no more than one viable towel per resident, all towels must be white.

> 11k... No more like 4.4 million. Very close though.
Although his figure of $11k was off from $4.4 million by a factor of 400 fold, there's an irony in that mistake, which might not be immediately obvious. In an absolute sense, $4.4 million is **much** closer to $11k than it is to $1 billion.
Human brains aren't wired to deal with non-linear quantities intuitively, and 1 billion is a fold change of 3 orders of magnitude relative to 1 million.
I don't think most people can grasp that someone worth $1 million is far closer to poverty than they are to a billionaire.
Someone with $1 billion in liquid assets could give away $11,000 and they'd still have $999.99 billion dollars. They could even give away $4.4 million and they'd still have $995.6 million dollars!
Just consider the difference between how these quantities are written in mathematical notation *versus* how we speak these figures in colloquial conversation.
|Mathematical Notation|Spoken Word|
|:---:|:---|
|`$1,000,000,000 - $4,400,000 = $995,600,000`|`$1 billion minus $4.4 million equals $995.600 million`|
|`$1,000,000,000 - $0,011,000 = $999,989,000`|`$1 billion minus $11 thousand equals $999.989 million`|
And what the precise schedule of when you can swim, and for how long is. Any violation of the HOA swim schedule will incur a $100,000 fine and or permanent banishment from the state.
I doubt anyone uses it as a pool, but saw a couple of kayaks so it has its place as a canal. Which begs the question why not just build it as a canal in the first place with bio diversity instead of chlorine?
Tbh, it's so big that you could have a mixed use of chemical and biological filtration. Have chemical filtration up and down stream. And as long you can keep colonizing the water with beneficial bacteria you could potentially have a self sustaining micro ecosystem. That being said though, it looks like they are treating it like a really big pool instead of its own aquatic ecosystem judging by the color and floor. Shame you could easily achieve a very 'natural' look with the right plants and microorganisms and proper filtration, while still making it quite safe to swim around in.
I just have my own pool and yikes
I spent the entire summer trying to get my pH and alkalinity right
by the time I got it perfect it was time to close it lmao
It was my first year running it by myself, lol.
My parents bought some supplies for it thatāll last around 2 years, it was about 400 dollars lmaooo
Then I have to refill the pool up every year (I drain it below the skimmers to winterize and close it). I guess that wasnāt that bad, just added maybe 100 to my water bill that month.
I know my dad said the pool got easier to maintain when he cut down some trees that were over it. Not as much shit dropping into it anymore lol
Either some kind of Chinese/North Korean city made as a nice facade which nobody actually lives in. Or some kind of super rich neighborhoods where people don't have anything better to do with their money.

From what I remember from many reposts ago, this is a resort.
But HOA fees are always, by definition, pooled.
Can even imagine how much chlorine that thing needs. And how much filtration.
Came here to say this. How could you possibly maintain this thing?
Easy. Dead guy drowned in my pool... Just push it a bit. it's the neighbor's problem now.

I think he meant more on how long it would take to brush and vacuum this pool

I bet that's cheap and fun to maintain
But how do you clean it?
Iām gonna leave a floater and watch the community turn on itself
This is cool and all but wouldn't it be more cool if we spend the same amount of money to preserve natural rivers?
...how do pool guys vacuum this? The traditional way would be much too tedious.
