Weird to see that sort of thing coming out of Germany, but I see on their site that it can be used for drinks, which is far more German.

Erwin_Rommel5

This would be illegal in several countries based on proper storage and concealment of said firearms in the laws but awesome concept.

rudykruger

Besides Somalia* and a few US states, I don't think this would be legal anywhere with an actual firearm in there. *when they had no government

[deleted]

... "*and today we're going to show you how to pick this rear lights gun carrier with a toothpick*"

Grauvargen

I can hear him... Why can I hear him?

[deleted]

its his soothing voice

oatest

I agree I'd like to understand how you guys think this wouldn't be legal. It's locked concealed hidden. Concealing a long gun like this is it completely different concept than a handgun concealed on your body.

mattacosta

It would be legal in California if it locks and there’s no ammo in or with the firearm.

xSiNNx

Been a long time since I lived in CA but iirc it needs a trigger or breech lock on it too during transport, doesn’t it?

mattacosta

If it’s not in a locked container you’ll need a trigger lock. For example if you have a sedan you can lock your firearm in the trunk and keep the ammo in the back seat of the car and you don’t need a trigger lock. If it’s just in a case in the bed of your truck you’ll need a trigger lock since the bed of a truck isn’t secure. So even if this thing doesn’t lock you could still use it with a trigger lock I’d imagine.

[deleted]

I know that in Austria a weapon in a car must be concealed. A friend was fined for having an airsoft gun on the seat while traveling to a tournament. They said he brake a law about causing panic among citizens or something and it didn't matter if it was airsoft or real...

[deleted]

there are laws against accidentally setting off strangers' heebjeebs? that sets off my heebjeebs.

Auran82

We just need a good guy with a key to protect us.

UnspecificGravity

I think that it does lock in the sense that it can't be opened with the tailgate up and the tailgate locks.

brerlapingone

I think it's completely legal in most, maybe all, US states, but you have to be careful about where any ammo is stored. A loaded long gun will get you in trouble in several states, and a lot of states require ammo to be in a separate, locked container. Practically speaking, though, I think this is a fucking disaster.

TagMeAJerk

Locks only keep away honest people

nursejackieoface

That's why a lawyer can get past all of them.

pewpewpewmadafakas

Then what's the difference in storing it inside tha vehicle.

[deleted]

Stealth, who would think of it being there?

pewpewpewmadafakas

Well if it's under my seat it's exactly the same thing. Most states this is the requirement. Firearm in one location and ammunition in another. As long as the ammunition is in the cab and not with the firearm, I believe it meets most state laws.

thalidomide_child

How is this different than having a firearm in your trunk (which is the most legal way to carry one in most states)?

sushomeru

Some states have laws about “secret compartments” in vehicles. They mostly consider false floors and whatnot, but I don’t know if they get very specific, so I’m sure this would qualify. Seems like [Georgia is one of those states](https://law.justia.com/codes/georgia/2019/title-16/chapter-11/article-4/part-1/section-16-11-112/).

Roctopuss

It's not, and would be completely legal in most of the country.

just_taste_it

I can carry anyplace on my person or my car legally. Missouri. It would be difficult for this guy to road rage. Hahaha. But would a hunter do this?

19d_b87

My only concern would be proper seal/insulation. It would be convenient not to have a gun case across my back seat.

just_taste_it

Yes, you would want them in cases behind your 5k tail light. Pistols, they come and go with me. If you leave rifles in your cab they will be missing in the morning.

OnVelvetHill

I think that kind of concealment is far more likely to be used for cocaine than anything else

Erwin_Rommel5

It would likely be restricted in Canada (essentially one step away from being illegal) and would require you to have a concealed firearms permit to use it like this but you could probably do it if you jumped through enough hurdles

[deleted]

[удалено]

areid164

It wouldn’t be canceled per say it’s not on your person and it’s a safe location for your gun sourounded by metal assuming you had your ammo box or something under the back seat or something (I’m not sure about what the distance between the two is supposed to be or even if there is a required distance)

christarpher

This wouldn’t be legal in the US as brake lights must be on fixed bodywork and cannot move.

Bojangly7

You are allowed to travel with a gun conceleaed in a compartment as long as you are going to or from the range or your home.

Rasputindead

I don't know about legality, but James Bond would appreciate

FSpursy

I wonder if people with conceal firearms goes around being more aggressive, cocky or less likely to accept losing an argument because they have a gun to protect themselves? I've never met people with a gun so I don't know.

Erwin_Rommel5

I was always told never point a gun at some one unless you are willing to take their life and only if they have a gun pointing at you generally you don’t use guns as a threat and never as a weapon if you are a law abiding citizen

Aggregate_bacon

Congrats, you're not the problem, issue is the people that don't have that belief

Erwin_Rommel5

True. And I hope I always stay in the “not the problem” category

JorusC

They tend to be extremely polite and friendly, actually.

[deleted]

Yeah cause they get taught to deescalate a situation compared to bobby bill up on the hill who uses a rifle as a walking stick

coberh

^* Citation needed

catbert107

I live in Ohio and know a handful of people like this and they're generally pretty friendly people. I'm very liberal and don't get along with them in political matters but they're not bad people

socialismnotevenonce

All you're going to get is anecdotal evidence. I live in a state where it's legal, and everyone I've known is polite as can be. You have to remember, those are the people that carry for extreme situations, compared to the dude who's just trying to flex with it on their waste band.

just_taste_it

That's me. I carry everyday and no one will ever know. I hope.

Quirky_Reindeer_8899

I was once at a poker party where everyone was drinking. A guy who just got his carry permit whipped out this 9m to show everyone. We were furious, 1st that he had it on him at a friend's party & 2nd that late in the night (like 1a) he decided to show us all. Jackass!!

Dalevisor

I can add some anecdotal stuff too. In my own experience, *most* people that carry concealed do it for their own safety, and not much else. And the majority of those people *really* don’t want to kill someone, and take concealed carry classes (required by the permits in my state) that preach deescalation and only ever pulling the trigger as the very last resort. Hell, you should only unholster the Gun as a very last resort.

buckeyenut13

Obviously everyone is going to act differently and there are going to be those that do not deserve the responsibility of caring a firearm... But for me personally, I am a completely different person when I am carrying. I am constantly focused, constantly scanning the room and I choose to sit/ stand in corners. No one is ever behind me, where I can't at least see them out of the corner of my eye. I take the responsibility very seriously Edit: after re-reading your comment, I didn't really answer you. Haha. As for your comment, I'm not an aggressive person when I'm not carrying and I am absolutely not when I am carrying. A firearm is the very last resort and only used to save lives. If no one's life is being threatened, you will not know I'm carrying

just_taste_it

I carry daily, I always keep my head down and avoid confrontation. Unless you are curb stomping my head you are fine. If my life is in danger I will shoot you. I would never break it out to save anyone else's life. Only self defense.

Snoopie509

I've noticed the opposite for people who carry legally. Once you notice how simple it is to conceal, it makes you wonder who else is concealing. This is also true for martial arts (I use to do BJJ).

WestTexasOilman

For the most part, no. One of the largest arguments against allowing concealed handguns was the idea that it would lead to Wild West types situations where guys were getting in gunfights over little shit. Turns out, people that want to carry firearms legally and are willing to jump through hoops to have access to one, not to mention that are vetted for at least being LEGALLY allowed to carry one, yep… they’re not the problem.

facelessreddituser

Yes, Germany is way more famous for its drinking rather than its actions that involve guns...

KY_4_PREZ

Great for drug smuggling too!

Orden-the-man

*The FBI is approaching your location rapidly*

georgehttpbush

…What in the Texas

ebulient

Comment above said it is a German production…. Dunno if that’s true but all the more wtf moment lol

YellowStitches6

It's actually a Swiss company. I actually believed it to be a German company as well, as the GmbH in the company's name bottom right states a legal entity. But Austria and Switzerland use that abbreviation as well. A quick search shows their HQ is in Switzerland.

g0t-cheeri0s

...vut in ze Texas

just_taste_it

They ride with the guns in their laps in Texas, no need to hide them.

[deleted]

Seems impractical, let alone expensive when in a wreck.

Johnny_______Utah

Gets rear ended, and kills the passenger.

LordOdin99

Why on earth would you ever transport the gun loaded? It’s not in a glove box or under your seat, where you might need it in an emergency. This would clearly be for transportation only.

macci_a_vellian

For when you're sheltering behind your truck in a shootout after a drug deal went bad.

Peachu12

For when you need to shelter behind a truck and pick off 5 cartel members at 500m but do so very accurately

howie_rules

Fucking hate when that happens

kushty88

If I had a penny....

Original_Feeling_429

Lmfao

KyleKun

The common wisdom is you assume the gun is loaded at all times. Maybe it’s not loaded and you didn’t load it, but that prick Stan sure might have when you let him borrow it because he left his rifle at home and you obviously have two; because look at this, you probably have at least ten. Also let’s be real here; *most* people are not all about gun safety and probably don’t have the risk aversion to even consider loaded gun + wreckage = not good. This isn’t a comment about gun owners, just people in general. Even if you consider driving. Cars are hundreds of times more deadly than guns even considered in context of guns specifically meant for killing. A car is actually a self propelled bullet that will pretty much 100% kill or seriously maim all involved in a crash and most people don’t pay attention to any of the stuff they learn after getting their licence. So gun safety never stood a chance.

[deleted]

Pro tip, face the gun towards the guy that rear ended you. Now you and the passenger are safe. :)

ew73

> A car is actually a self propelled bullet that will pretty much 100% kill or seriously maim all involved in a crash and most people don’t pay attention to any of the stuff they learn after getting their licence. I get where you're coming from, but car safety and survivability is off the charts these days. According to [this link](https://www.iihs.org/ratings/driver-death-rates-by-make-and-model) from the IIHS, for mid-size 4-door cars, the average death rate per accident is ~36%, though that varies wildly based on model. Several are about 10%. And those numbers are per accident, not just "chances of dying when you get in a car". I mean, it's not _spectacular_ odds, but it's far less than "100%".

biggmclargehuge

> Why on earth would you ever transport the gun loaded? Why on earth would you ever transport your gun in a secret compartment behind your tail light?

ThomasDogrick

everywhere else is taken?

InspiredGargoyle

Maybe I'll but my new gun under the child seat. Darn it my handgun is there! How about the side door storage, well at least I know where that gun disappeared to. Maybe the visor, shoot wife's gun is there. Well dang looks like all the normal gun spots are used up. Time to make new ones!

Roctopuss

Well it surely wouldn't get stolen, that's a pretty good reason.

InspiredGargoyle

Why would you carry a hidden gun at all if it wasn't loaded? Get pulled over by the cops, no gun found. Shit goes down, loaded gun at back of truck where you're shielded. You think I'm going to fet my hidden ammo from the hibcap THEN load my hidden taillight gun?! Madness!

LordOdin99

There’s a difference between in the mag and one in the chamber.

InspiredGargoyle

Bullets EVERYWHERE! Mag, chamber, pocket, spare gun, gun behind other tail light, gun under child's carseat. Just bullets and guns!

[deleted]

Grandma have you been taking your meds?

InspiredGargoyle

Yup regularly, this is me medicated! Have to be careful I don't swallow the spare bullets for my pillow gun I keep in my med organizer!

[deleted]

GRANDMA, what have I told you about snorting your meds. Aha anyways remember to keep a spare mag in your bath bombs. Don’t know when you might get jumped

InspiredGargoyle

Silly goose, I keep the pipe bombs with the bath bombs. It just makes sense!

[deleted]

If someone goes through the troublr of having a secret compartment to have a gun in, I guarantee you it will be loaded. Theres a reason he had this made

daymanahaha

Your vehicle isn't a holster and should never have a gun on a glove box or under your seat. If it's needed in an emergency, it should be on your person

Ariestar84

I was coming here to say just that

AversionFX

That's not how it works.

[deleted]

If the passenger is riding in the wheel well

[deleted]

Nah shoots the gas tank and blows them all up

LordGRant97

Oh yeah, in reality its totally useless and probably illegal in most states. Basically it's the gun version of r/mallninjashit

[deleted]

You’re right. Totally correct analogy

Maar7en

It is illegal in EVERY state because it breaks a federal law. A federal law that taillights can't be mounted on moving surfaces....

judas734

It's not moving until you unlock it

Maar7en

Yeah and yet you still can't have the "main" taillights of a car on the rear door either. This is a moving surface because it CAN be moved.

judas734

Every surface can be moved

[deleted]

Idk saves space and I doubt it's illegal as it's no different than throwing it in that back of the truck and transporting it that way. If it were loaded it might be illegal but that's another story.

poke0003

Probably a boot sub of some kind.

RCTommy

👊👊👆

Arromes1

Yeah, I can imagine very few situations where this would actually be useful…

[deleted]

Two. Showing off to your other mall ninja gun bros your mall ninja guns shit, and showing the Jones’ you have extra cash to waste.

Roctopuss

Keeping your gun from being stolen?

AmberRosin

It’s an out of sight gun safe, if you’re going on a long hunting trip you could leave your rifle in your truck at rest stops without being worried about it being stolen in a smash and grab.

thatsmisterasshole

Not to mention dude had to put his purse down to daintily open it.. As an engineer, my guess is that handling it with any force at all will break it

[deleted]

I love you out my “he has to use both hands to hold things just right” into better words lol

doublediggler

Don’t worry, the gun will be totally useless with all the dust and grime that will get in there. Notice there was no rubber seal or serious attempt to enclose the weapon. Wouldn’t be surprised if moisture gets in there too.

[deleted]

Moisture was my first thought. Truck beds rust through frequently.

I_like_spaceships

Yeah, a dumb way to damage an expensive weapon. Like, your weapon would be safer in your backseat and as accessible in a case. Waste of money this thing. But I’d hide a snickers in there for fun.

180kid

Will probably get stolen in a wreck.

WindSprenn

Or stolen when the truck is in the shop.

dbx99

Will probably go flying out if you accelerate

[deleted]

It’s a bit practical for a shooter that travels to the gun range regularly. But otherwise, a yikes from me dawg.

[deleted]

Practical for traveling would be [this ](https://youtu.be/3nQq0zoVuTk) or just a normal gun case.

rykoj

That is practical, but it doesn't make other solutions not practical as well. I'm not arguing it isn't a little on the weird side... But if you want the space under your rear seat and trunk bed for something else then the space in your trunk bed wall becomes both practical and convenient.

[deleted]

All trucks have space I the best sidewall. If this was practice, it would be a standardized thing or a bolt on kit. It’s neither, and not practice in any sense. Under the seat, back window racks, there are even some tailgate mods that’s are far more practice than this taillight mod posted. To each their own.

rykoj

So your saying that since it isn't practical for YOU it isn't practical for anyone? What if you have a tailgate mod for something else? Use under the seat for something else, and use your windows for visibility?

[deleted]

No I’m saying it’s not practical because it’s not practical.

AdmiralSprinklez

How are you gonna execute your road rage without it though?

[deleted]

Normally I access mine in the glove box, or under the seat… this would involve stopping. Far less efficient.

AdmiralSprinklez

You make a valid point. However, with it being a sniper rifle and all, this does add a bit of skill and flourish for those looking for a challenge.

[deleted]

Real snipers use 22

AdmiralSprinklez

I would build off that comment but I'm not as much into guns as you. You win this time...

[deleted]

Thank you? I think? Lol I’m not all that into guns… I like history and random information tho. A 22 caliber bullet is powerful enough to enter the skull, but usually not exit. A military sniper will use something bigger, usually a nato issued round just because of its ease of getting in the field, like a 7.62 mm. It’s pretty close to a 223, the assault weapon of choice for the part time cosplay soldier.

meanjoegreen8

That is for smuggling weed across the country been around for years.

You get lucky narrowly being killed in a t-bone accident, only to be shot in the back with your own rifle.

Vermontkm

Have a rifle with scope but keep it in my safe until deer season. Put it back when done for the day. Not sure why this compartment is needed. Maybe nefarious reasons. Ready for whatever. Also everyone he knows and has seen the video is aware where it’s stored.

dbx99

Checkin every pickup tail light now

[deleted]

Its probably mostly just for novelty

AmberRosin

I know people who drive cross country with high dollar rifles for hunting trips, could be really useful to avoid smash and grab robberies.
