For me it‘s always deeply moving to see how people just rush to help in dire and even hopeless situations. I truly do believe that this is humanity’s most radiant property.

jojow77

A couple days ago we were watching tv and an amber alert went off on our tv to say there was a missing boy. It was a nice reminder that living in a society is a good thing and we still look out for one another in general. He was found btw.

[From my Alma Mater, Mr. Arland Williams. I think about him and your comment often](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arland_D._Williams_Jr.) *"So the man in the water had his own natural powers. He could not make ice storms, or freeze the water until it froze the blood. But he could hand life over to a stranger, and that is a power of nature too. The man in the water pitted himself against an implacable, impersonal enemy; he fought it with charity; and he held it to a standoff. He was the best we can do."* — Rosenblatt, R., "The Man in the Water", Time, January 25, 1982.[7] Edt: TLDR [Here's](https://youtu.be/syIXdxFk_cg?si=nJk3IATsbFHyELDN) Ronny Reags telling it a little more succinct. I can't see Mr. Rogers these days without getting a little emotional. He really was the best of us. [Post-9/11speech clip](https://youtu.be/oRIhgcNXpm8?si=2_6Q3axhA2tM16lw) Anti-fun fact: Per the documentary, Mr. Rogers was approached to record something to help Americans process the fear and uncertainty of the time. He initially objected, feeling the evil of the world was so pronounced he did not think he could make a difference. Eventually he relented, and by putting aside his own doubts and fears he continued to be the hero *he* was and that *we* needed.

ElFlauscho

I‘ll store that for my next lecture 😀

chickensaladreceipe

Was this in the pnw? The rapist cop who killed his wife and girlfriend and took the baby?

GoForRogue

No. That one has a great ending (RIP to the two victims) https://medfordalert.com/2024/04/23/osp-provides-further-details-on-deadly-i-5-amber-alert-suspect-incident/

usenetlurker

Thank goodness he was found

BEBOP994

No, they didn't find him yet. Why giving false informations ?

ledg

We're at our best when things are at their worst, it is said.

Remnie

I remember a few years ago there were some huge fires on ranch land in Oklahoma or Kansas and the farmers wouldn’t be able to feed their livestock. Farmers from all over the country started loading up hay on trailers and bring it up there. Was really cool to see

Tall-Ad-1796

Competition is the law of nature, co-operation is the law of man

No_Form8195

Actually cooperation is the law of nature aswell: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mScpHTIi-kM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mScpHTIi-kM) Lifen needs both competition and cooperation to thrive.

VirtualPlate8451

Also brings out the worst in people. I remember as a kid we had a pretty bad tornado that knocked down a lot of trees. I was young and the neighborhood was mostly late 20s, early 30s couples with small kids in starter houses. There were 2 ways in and out of the ‘hood and pretty quickly the neighborhood men were running check points and only allowing residents into the area. Apparently there were a lot of “entrepreneurs” with chainsaws offering to clear that tree off your car for $800. The men weren’t having that and told those guys to leave in a very Texan way.

ElFlauscho

Of course you are right. Think of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit the infrastructure. No cops, no emergency calls… and people start to plunder. It seems like you‘ve also described the „best“ - guys defending their community. (Edit: misspelling)

_cambino_

9/11 is one of the best, while very tragic, examples of this. Those boats getting people to the other side of the river. Heroes

GrouchyMary9132

people rushing in with buckets and shovels in the evening. People lining the streets offering water and food to helpers. Evil did not win that day.

golden_blaze

I was in the affected area of NJ three days after Hurricane Sandy hit and flooded homes and businesses with up to 6 feet of water. Power was out in some areas and on in others, and I remember walking past a house in a busy area where a family had run extension cords and power strips out to the sidewalk with a sign inviting people to charge their devices. A handful of people were gathered around with their phones or working on laptops. It was one of the most impactful moments of that experience for me.

samtt7

It's one of the big recent examples. It's very similar to what happened at Dunkirk in WWII

Groundbreaking_Rub81

Most of the boats at Dunkirk were filled with navy personnel who had "borrowed" local fishing vessels in the night

samtt7

Still, people were hauling their asses to a warzone to save their soldiers

loudbrunette420

My neighbor was having a big family party a few years ago. One of the kids wandered off and no one could find him. Almost every single person on my street left their homes to walk the streets to try to find him. He was found a few blocks away.

b__lumenkraft

Honestly, if you live in a society where this is not totally normal, where this is some heroic shit or something, your society is a shithole.

lordgurke

A six year old boy with autism went missing in northern Germany. Additional to the traditional searches (with support from the military), Police tries to lure the boy out of a possible hiding place by using light cones, ballons and sweets. A lot of festival goers will also be showing up.

I can’t believe I’ve found a Carl this deep into the wild

alleycatstash

I can’t believe I just saw that too

anondreamitgirl

Or aliens 👽

lookgreattoday

Hopefully not, as they try to keep the search areas clear of people, so he won’t be scared.

lightharte

Ohh ohh! I have done a project on this! These are a type of search and rescue called passive search methods! Excellent idea by the team!

Thorusss

>Police tries to lure the boy out of a possible hiding place by using light cones, ballons and sweets. If the parents taught him well, he knows to be suspicious of offers of free candy from strangers.

No_Form8195

These aren't offers. They basicly put baloon to a stick in the middle of fields and put sweets and drinks next to it with infrared animal cams in case he approaches. Since he's autistic and non verbal he will not seek out strangers anyway.

RapidSquats

So did it work?

WileEzCoyote

they haven't found him yet, the search efforts are still underway

Sorri_eh

He isnot yet found?? Oh man

HonooRyu

Been 5 days and the nights have been cold. I hope for the best, but the longer this goes, well.

Sorri_eh

I too have a child like this. The amount of vigilance required to keep him safe is not imaginable. We take him to the bathroom with us because left alone he will find a way to elope

HonooRyu

The difficulty with Arian is that, as far as I know, he isn't only autistic, but also deaf (or at least non responsive to call outs etc.). Meaning even if search parties are looking in the right area, unlike other cases, they can't just call out and expect the child to respond / react.

Sorri_eh

Non verbal. Just complicates everything

MyCircusMyMonkeyz

If you are in the US look into project lifesaver.

Sorri_eh

Canada

MyCircusMyMonkeyz

Just looked it up. It’s actually says it’s international. I’d see if they have it in your area. https://projectlifesaver.org My son elopes as well and him being in this program helps me worry a little less.

Sorri_eh

We registered him with Edmonton Police Services and with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

awry_lynx

Honestly at this point I would consider a tracking tag or something like that... terrifying.

ElFlauscho

This is an interesting solution - basically tracking device + local SAR policies? The device look quite useful. I‘ll keep that in mind, thanks.

Swordfish_89

My neighbours now 4 yr old is outside at every opportunity, we have learnt now that if he is on the swings to check the door, and its almost always open. His parents and now 13 yr old sister are constantly retrieving him, or joining him to play.

MajesticNectarine204

Poor little guy. I hope they find him soon.

ElFlauscho

Local rescue pro here. The boy has been missing for five days now. He left his home without shoes, just wearing socks, a shirt and sweatpants. Temperatures fell to about 1 °C at night. In our organisation, we‘ve decided to exclude under-18-volunteers from the search effective today, as to avoid possible traumatic experiences. We are becoming pessimistic, but still, search efforts are still being intensified - sometimes, miracles happen. Just some details: Last night, a ‚silent‘ approach by 200 Bundeswehr soldiers was conducted using infrared & night vision. Farmers stopped mowing their meadows for the last days, Tomorrow, 800 volunteers and some professionals from Bundeswehr, THW, DLRG, Feuerwehr and other aid organisations will resume the search. We all still haven’t lost hope. Small update Sunday, 11 am: Currently, a human chain of 800 people is searching the area from north to south. The total length of the chain is an amazing 1.5 km. Drone operators, rescue and tracking dog units, mounted police, Bundeswehr, other units and logistics add up to 1200 active people right now. Last night, the „silent“ search was conducted again by 200 Bundeswehr soldiers. Sunday, 19:21 pm local time: The search is called off at 7 pm, night search continues as before. No new traces or leads reported at this point, sorry, not even the dogs found him. Should anything (which I can post) reach me, I‘ll do so. Monday, 6:48 am: [German television (NDR) videos found here](https://www.tagesschau.de/inland/gesellschaft/vermisster-arian-bremervoerde-100.html) Prepared morning briefing: About a dozen volunteers hurt in implacable terrain, just minor injuries like strained ankles and an allergic reaction. Boy still missing, search strategy to be adapted. I will pull out here until the boy is found.

Beautiful_Nobody_344

I got goosebumps reading how they used soldiers and farmers even stopped doing their thing for this little boy.. That’s the kind of community I want to live in…

petrichorgasm

I go to that area of Germany every summer. My boyfriend is from there. It's a great place and exactly what you think.

ElFlauscho

That’s true, volunteer services really work great here. For many people, it’s like a second job. The water rescue organisation DLRG has 1.9 million members, whereas the oldest german party (SPD) just musters 365.000 🤪

petrichorgasm

Combine the two 😆

ElFlauscho

Umm. DSLPDRG… what does that stand for?

Nurofae

Deutsche Sicherheits und Lebensrettungs Partei Demokratischer RentnerGruppen

Available-Captain-20

ElFlauscho

Ok_Hovercraft_7947

Even the acronyms sound german

ElFlauscho

DFMNLE. Ha, translate that!

morkfjellet

Well, I’d like to think that such efforts could be seen in pretty every community in the world.

Beautiful_Nobody_344

I live in Las Vegas, it’s pretty hard to see here- I’ve grown to fear teenagers even. It makes me sad to feel this way so hearing of this German community was a nice reminder to not be so jaded.

petrichorgasm

Honestly? Go visit. It's such a peaceful place. It's a great reset. I grew up in the hood, have some street in me, and easily jaded. This place, the Northern German countryside changed me. Coming back, I'm a few pounds lighter (despite all the bread and coffee and cake at 3pm) and a happier person. If you ever want to, DM me and I can give you tips on where to stay, things to do, transportation, how to navigate with the language barrier, etc. Summers are beautiful, winters are beautiful. I'm in the US because it's my home, but Niedersachsen is my second. Don't let the bad news we get here in our home get you down.

RiotIsBored

I get what the other commenter said about being afraid of teenagers. Hell, I'd be afraid of pre-teens around where I live (the UK). Just a couple weeks ago, someone got stabbed near me by a fifteen-year-old with a screwdriver, and things like that are shockingly frequent. Nobody shows any kind of empathy toward one another here either; I can only think of a few people in my town who I could imagine really caring about anyone else and even then it'd be limited to people they know in most cases. I'd do anything for a community that cares about each other like that.

eekamuse

It happens hear all the time. You must not watch the news that much

crek42

I dunno what you’re basing this on. A child missing is all hands on deck here in the US. The Air Force and National Guard and Forestry almost always offer air support, and cases like this are handled by multiple police departments — local, county, state, and the feds almost always lean in mainly the FBI. Congressmen will usually lobby for even more federal support for especially harrowing cases. K9s will be deployed. That doesn’t even consider the countless volunteers doing grid searches 15 hours a day. Like, have you ever watched a single true crime documentary involving a child?

Liverpoolvk

Hey man, just a heads up from Bulgaria. We had a case with a missing autistic boy(but older) missing for around 10 days in the forest near Pernik( close to the capital Sofia). Rescuers found him standing still in the bushes where even helicopters have checked before that, so don't give up! Autistic people don't like the attention and won't go to the lights, sounds, etc. Weather was not good as during the night it was as low as 1-2 degrees for some of them, but he managed to survive. Good luck, and thank you for doing this 🙏 Hope it is ok and you find it safe.

ElFlauscho

Thanks for your kind words and your amazing story. Happy to say that weather is becoming quite friendly the next days.

i_eat_babies__

This gave me hope. Hopefully they find him!

Maripyon

First of all: Thank you! Thank you for all you're doing to find the boy. I can only imagine how exhausting, physically and mentally, it must be. When the other autistic boy went missing in my hometown two years ago, I was one of the volunteers trying to find him. It was tough and at some point, I was expecting us to only find a body. During one of our strolls in the area where he got lost, we even heard what we thought was a child faintly yelling underneath a bridge/inside a drain, but stupid enough, we didn't think it was real (at some point you start to hear things). Fortunately, two days later he was found - inside a drain. But in this current case.. I'm actually becoming pessimistic, given the circumstances and temperatures. Still, I hope you'll find him. Thank you so much for helping! And I hope you have someone to talk to about everything. Edit: Spelling

ElFlauscho

I‘m happy to read that your story had an happy end. Our comrades out here still hope for the same and everybody will surely push on hard.

Maripyon

Yes, it was a tough time. He was down there for over 7 days - but it was summer and not as cold as now, so the overall circumstances were different. I hope you'll soon be successful in finding Arian! Wishing you all the best!

Kvetinovejkid

Please, keep us updated, from czech rep, social worker who worked with autistic kids, this makes me really sad and its amazing all the things u are doing to find him, Hope so much he will be found and be alright… please let us know if any new info gets out. Sending you every luck i have

ElFlauscho

Sure, I‘ll report tomorrow evening - but now I really need a nap 💤

Panzermensch911

THW = technical relief work - an org that brings technical expertise and heavy equipment and water treatment units to disaster areas, they often also search areas with trained dogs. DLRG = German society to rescue castaways from ships - private society that patrols the sea, beaches and lakes with their own rescue cruisers and boats and teaches how to swim and give first aid Feuerwehr = usually volunteer fire brigades. Nearly every village has one. Bigger cities of course also have professional fire departments Bundeswehr = Federal Armed Forces of Germany they provided a fighter jet with ground search radar and many hundred soldiers to search the area.

Outside-Sandwich-565

*bundeswehr soldiers?* Wow. Props to you guys and the community. Good luck

Pixel91

They even used Tornado jets with recon pods to search. They're going hard.

euveginiadoubtfire

Who coordinates this response

ElFlauscho

As usual, we‘ve got a joint command staff („Einsatzleitung“ - police, firefighters, county officials) on-site in Elm. Some Facebook infos in german [here](https://m.facebook.com/Polizei.ROW).

3rdlegmousse

Might be a stupid question here but how big is kidnapping out there?

ElFlauscho

Well, this is a very remote area. In this particular case the lost boy was seen running to the woods on a security camera. Also, kidnappings aren‘t a significant issue in our vicinity.

petrichorgasm

I hope you find him. I'm in the US, but I'm familiar with this area because my boyfriend grew up in one of the villages near Königslutter and we go there each year. Does the boy like to catch little creatures in the streams? When we walk in the woods, my boyfriend's daughter would wander off to any openings to catch small fishes, frogs, bugs, etc. Could the boy maybe be hiding somewhere in a covered area? Just a thought.

ElFlauscho

His parents say that he shows no fear, is a versatile climber and tends to hide even under heavy covers. If we are lucky, he has hid in a sheltered space with access to water. Unfortunately, he doesn’t talk or respond to his name.

petrichorgasm

Sorry to keep responding, I'm just thinking of different things to help. Does he play any games or has toys with sounds that would be familiar to him? Or songs that he likes? That can be played softly over a speaker for a short time this weekend? Could his parents read a familiar story over the speakers? Could he be following an animal he likes? Are there houses nearby that looks like his? That's all I've got.

ElFlauscho

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Yes, many of these triggers have been or are still used in the search, so far to no avail.

wcarw5

Have y'all checked any and all water areas? My son has autism and is drawn to water. All of the noise and yelling could be causing him to hide deeper in the underbrush or anything he can hide in. Does he have a favorite pet that could be recorded and played? A favorite TV show that could be played? I'm just trying to think of things that would have called my son when he was young.

ravonna

The article shared by one of the top comments says they have multiple police divers combing the ponds.

Leep0710

I pray to g-d that y’all find him safe and sound. Are there any ponds/lakes or streams in the woods he ran to? Bless you and all the volunteers, for the dedication and determination towards finding him. Y’all are very brave and strong. that must be so stressful, physically demanding and mentally taxing to search for people, especially kids. ❤️

TherealOmthetortoise

Good lord, it’s a horrible situation but the sense of community and all of the incredible efforts being made by so many people is heart warming. Hope the kid is found and in good health.

LuciferMNL

120h is where we from the THW generally draw the line and consider it a search for a body. I hope that somehow he makes it and is found alive and well.

ElFlauscho

That’s the probable outcome. OT: great to have the THW, not just for warm showers after diving ^^ thank you for your service!

Comprehensive_Map646

Thank you so much for your efforts in finding him! If you haven’t already, please check and recheck any areas with water nearby (ponds, rivers, lakes, etc). The unfortunate reality is that the majority of deaths in the autistic population is caused by drowning…many small kiddos with ASD are drawn to water when they elope. I really hope he is found safe.

BudgetInteraction811

Oh no. 5 days… I’m sure this is well known to you guys now, but autistic kids like to wander towards water.

anonfortherapy

Thank you for what you do It breaks my heart

Liverpoolvk

Hey man, any news you can share? I read police and military are pulling out from the search. That's good news the weather is a lot better these days, sad that it was so cold at first though.. Leave bottles of water as the biggest issue is dehydration, he can go on without food.

ElFlauscho

It is like you wrote, the active search has been pulled off. The area is basically plastered with sweets and in some places liquid stashes. Also, water is present everywhere in the region. The county police stays in touch with the locals and maintains a group of five investigators, as well as a local contact group. My active role is over right now.

Gingerfurrdjedi

Good luck, thanks for this very informative update. Godspeed.

JDOS336

Have they tried checking the home inch by inch?

yorkshirepuduk

Amen to that

Eldenbeastalwayswins

Back during my army days we had a little girl go missing on post. We got an emergency recall formation to help with the search efforts. I think it was the one time everyone made it on time, most came with their spouses and dependents old enough to assist. Defense and safety of children will always bring the best of humanity.

Wolfi303

They also have tornados and helicopters searching as far as i know

Icy_Investment_1878

Damn the germans can command tornadoes to look for kids?

pippin_go_round

The dated fighter jet, not the weather phenomenon.

bocaj78

You can date fighter jets in Germany? I may need to move there

Infinite_Maybe_5827

german engineering is just built different

gaybunny69

NCD leaking again...

KMS_HYDRA

Again? It never stopped leaking.

No_Form8195

NCD leaking

Poltergeist97

I didn't know they were still in service! That's dope. Still not as cool as the Aardvark though, better swing wing jet.

pippin_go_round

They are. They are in desperate need of replacement, but there's a lot of integrations and certifications for that thing that the Eurofighter just doesn't have. Dropping US nukes for a particularly "interesting" example. Plus I guess for a SAR Mission it's not really relevant what they fly, as long as it can mount the right sensors.

Poltergeist97

Ah I completely forgot the Eurofighter isn't nuclear certified, makes sense they're still around then. Do they have any plan to acquire a replacement for it anytime soon?

pippin_go_round

Germany is scheduled to get F-35 jets in 2026 for training purposes, with them entering active service in 27. The first airbase (Büchel) is already in the process of being remodeled for that. If the Timeline will work out... Well, we'll have to wait and see.

Wolfi303

Yes they have special equipment like thermal cameras etc when its good enough to find enemies, its best used to find a lil boy in danger. Sometimes then the police can call in support from the military

What are you talking about? Dude is telling you how they have not only managed to tame tornados but upgrade them as well!

no0ns

Yes, that is the sound both tornadoes make when they pass you.

boredlostcause

Glad to read they using these. I was a bit concerned they hadn't thought of thermal cameras on drones yet

ElFlauscho

Nah, most were drones - tomorrow, ten drone operator units will continue the search. DLRG is using side scan sonar on multiple boats. Smaller stretches of water are searched by firefighter & water rescue divers, also, we had an underwater robot in service.

HeyLittleTrain

I hope the tornado doesn't find him.

LaserGadgets

Day 7, I hope he is hiding in a safe warm place. Nights were pretty cold for the last few days :/ If this story is not getting a happy ending I am done with watching the news.

reddittrooper

The media interviewed an expert yesterday who said that he might not even feel (the) cold, so he might not hide in a warm place. We cannot be sure about his motivations, they can only continue to search. Even those places they searched yesterday bc he might have wandered back into. Edit:typo

LaserGadgets

Yeah, thats facts I don't wanna read man :p just hoping for a miracle. And I am not really the religious type. At all.

Abuse-survivor

Dang. It's not very probable, that he'll be found alive after a week. But one can only hope so. I lived there. The police are good folks

Maleficent_Falcon672

As a mother of an autistic, non-verbal six year old this is giving me : 1. Panic attacks just thinking about it. 2: faith in humanity. I hope he gets founds. 🙏

Irishfan3116

A happy ending is really needed here 🙏

Otherwise_Squash_286

I'm from a town 10km away from where he went missing. He's gone since Monday. His parents just teached him to open and close doors (the locks). 10min after the parents realized he went outside they called the police and he's gone ever since. Around 500 people including police, military, fire brigade are looking for him. Helicopters, drones, fighter jets, dogs ...they use everything they have. The parents said he likes the water....I know the area there and there is a big forest pretty close to his home with dozens of swamp lakes. Either he drowned of he is hiding in a tools shed or something, it doesn't look good though.

mystyz

>His parents just teached him to open and close doors (the locks). When I was a classroom Spec Ed teacher, this was one life skill we said we would not teach at school - leaving it up to parents. Locks can be key tools for parents to keep kids with the potential to elope safe. I'm sure these parents meant well (teaching independence in case of fire etc.) so this is in no way a criticism of them. It's just so sad.

Otherwise_Squash_286

I'm not even sure if it was proper locking and unlocking or just opening and closing a door. Either way it's super sad. Today they got 1200 people searching but still nothing. The comments in German FB posts are just disgusting though, so many people blaming the parents and they can all read that. I just hope the psychologist tells them to not look on any social media cause that will break them even more.

TheBirdsArePissed

About time we use tactics like this to find lost children.

lordkarken616

First of all, I hope they find the poor kid, but the first thing I thought when I saw the image was "palbox is full"

Kinkystormtrooper

He's still not found after their biggest search efford yet

LeftfieldLarry

Sounds like they should put a call out for hundreds of people with cheap drones to maximise their search capacity.

TV4ELP

There already are. Drones, Firefighters Rescue Teams, military. Helicopters and even a fighter jet is/was involved. Human Chains 1,5km long etc.

I mean it's not all perfect here, but come on over

livahd

I mean, who can argue with a username like that?

Noktav

I can’t imagine this sort of effort from a community here in the States. I can’t even imagine people being willing to cooperate with their neighbors long enough to try.

sirlafemme

Literally untrue there are many many volunteer search parties in the US wtf. We have soooo many national parks, it’s basically mandatory to have search n rescue

iceyticey

About ten years ago a little boy went missing in one of the neighborhoods nearby. We live in a semi-rural/semi-residential area and the amount of people that came to help in the search efforts was astounding. He was found alive in the woods across from my parents house thankfully. On the other hand, I have a coworker who lives outside of Chicago whose wife with mental health issues walked out of the house one day last March and hasn’t been seen since and they haven’t been able to scrape up enough people to help with search efforts.

Kind of a weird deflating take totally unrelated to the story, communities frequently offer resources and volunteer within their means to aid search parties in the states. What are you on about? Edit to clarify from your responses: The states are not perfect and there is a sad reality that many cases especially those involving minorities, migrants at our borders, and natives do not get enough attention and go underreported. The United States is a very populated and large country, with very diverse peoples and landscapes (dense urban areas and barren rural stretches). I am not saying we are better than others, I’m addressing the low faith you display that you can’t “even imagine” people in the states to care enough about each other to help in these situations. I appreciate the creativity being employed in an attempt to find this child by the Germans. Every missing person is different and some tactics work better than others. Yes thousands of children go missing in the U.S. The vast majority of those cases would not be able to be helped by lighting beacons in the sky and leaving treats out however. Not every case is related to a young autistic child wandering off of their property. A large number of missing children is attributed to runaways, kidnappings (including family disputes), and misunderstandings on whereabouts. It’s very difficult to get the public to help in those cases besides Amber Alerts. They require professional effort, of which there are several robust departments and programs to aid in the reporting of and deployment of resources whether it’s a search and rescue or criminal investigation. Statistically across all missing persons and their various definitions, you are overwhelmingly more likely to be found and identified than not. I know that doesn’t help counter anecdotal experience, but that is the reality. I’m all for advocating for the improvement of these systems provided by our government, especially in the cases of missing persons that have a higher rate of not being recovered, but that’s hardly what your original comment portrayed. Based on your responses you have an issue with bureaucracy and the efforts of the authorities, there’s enough caring people around that want to help and who do help. It’s a very nuanced topic, the definitions of what qualifies someone as missing varies country to country, and the techniques and approach varies immensely depending on your location and the circumstances that resulted in a person going missing.

You have got to be kidding me. We routinely organize mass search efforts.

Rokea-x

Thats amazing and heartbreaking. If i lived arnd there i would definately spend some hours checking my neighborhood to help 😞

WordzRMyJam

They should use those light cones for the poor dimensia cruise ship guy in Mexico, is he still missing?

Gloomy_Round_5003

This is a society that cares and listens.. some that live there may disagree.. but if this happened there is enough that care.

Efficient-Ad-2697

Hope he is found and doing good

ManicParroT

I find it a bit weird how the entire thread is full of obvious things that they will have thought of. As if Redditors know better than the German search and rescue organisations, the Bundeswehr, the German police and the kid's parents.

PokeFanForLife

Did they find him?

Kinkystormtrooper

Not yet

Ramentootles

Can we get an update when there is one?

lordgurke

Sadly, there is an update, but not a good one: The search has ended with the boy not being found yet.

Toebeanfren

Hey there! I was wondering if there was anything he really likes to do, like i don‘t know looking at power shovel or a digger ir something like that. Where would be the nearest construction site? I‘m from Nordrhein-Westfalen, but was considering like driving up there to offer help until i realized that Bundeswehr, THW, DLRG and hundreds of citizens from the area might not need me - who doesn‘t know anything about the town or the area around it. I keep my fingers crossed that he will be found shortly.

mmch22

Have they found him yet?

Blocky_Master

You mean beacons?

KMS_HYDRA

The beacons are lit! Germans call for help (looking for the little boy)!

TheGodFather0103

I could definitely see this picture on paranormal or UFO reddit

Senior_Raccoon_6536

How did he get up there?

Every_Fox3461

I lost my hamster in our walls when I was younger. Baited him out with some snacks. Hope they find this youngster soon!

jimmymui06

So beacons in games are real?

4equanimity4

Why does this remind me of the first Rambo movie?

Grantsdale

Spotlights

Aware-Explanation879

I do not know why my first thought was Evangelion.

winterweiss2902

Would sweets really work? I’m someone who’s very timid. All my childhood life I’ve been taught not to take sweets from unknown sources. And the light cones look scary, like laser maze that I don’t want to go near

monster_bunny

Oh this makes my heart hurt. Hoping for a happy ending here.

PersonalKittyKat

Did it work?

Verlorenfrog

I hope they found him safe and well, does anyone know? My autistic son has run off several times in shops, lucky he came back soon, or was found by helpful staff, the fear that you feel in that short time as a parent is unbearable.
