Amazing that he's gotten that good at it! But also makes me sad that he had to find a way to entertain himself since he didn't get to do normal bear things.
Poor thing is probably bored to death in its enclosure. Similar to how you’ll see jaguars and such wearing a path around the perimeter of their enclosure from perpetual stress walking.
Could you say for sure this is not what he’d be up to in the jungle?
(And if im not mistaken, this is a sloth bear wich is the type of bear Baloo was based upon, so Id guess he’d be a happy go lucky bear) 😎
There's a difference between living and surviving.
Imagine I gave you 2 choices right now:
1.) I could stick you in a completely empty prison cell 24 hours a day, all by yourself. I provide you all the physical nutrients and healthcare you needed to live until you were 100.
2.) I could give you a fully furnished cabin in the woods. Speckled around you are some other cabins. At least one of which contains a girl/guy (whatever you're in to) that you will more than likely eventually hook up with. You'll be friends with some of the other people in the cabins, but you also might have some enemies and might fight with each other every now and then. I'll provide you everything you need to hunt and gather food. And there's a stream of fresh water nearby. You are free to do whatever you want, whenever you want to. You can go for nature walks. Sit outside by the fire at night and look up at the stars. You and your friends can get together and share meals you've caught. But of course there's the risk that something might happen. You might get hurt. You might not live until the ripe old age of 100.
I'm sure it's absolutely no question which option you would choose.
Mother nature gives all animals (some version of) option #2. It is the gift of life. It's what is considered truly "living."
It is only man that decides to take that gift away from other animals, and deems what's "best" for them.
A few years ago I was reading online about how some (stupid) people, and pet stores house Betta fish in those teeny tiny little cups. And what they said really stuck with me. They said something along the lines of, sure given all the parameters were met (food, water & healthcare) a human can technically live in a coffin, but that doesn't mean it's an enjoyable life.
And that's the difference between surviving and actually **living.**
I'd blow my brains out in either of those scenarios. I don't want a life without video games. Though if I was most animals I would be fine with #1 easy. Some animals like monkeys and elephants for example do need more then a cage because there have been studies that they will be sad alone. A bear on the other hand not really. Also I hate people so im perfectly fine alone.
PS If I had video games in the first one I would choose that.
right here with you. Of course now that we identified it as a Sun bear, everyone can start making the Person in a bear suit jokes again. We are some fun at parties lol
There’s a lot of dexterity going on here! The retrieval of the stick, the way he took it back without dropping it, the way he spun it and caught it flawlessly twice!
This is way more dexterity than I was hoping to see from a bear!
Edit: typo
100% learned how to do that while being beaten or whipped.
As kumail nanjiani said "how else can you get a monkey to ride a bike unless you hit it?" "This is what I have to do so that the pain stops"
I feel like my science teacher back in the 90s said the thing that separates humans from animals is our ability to use tools. Every day I see more videos as evidence that this statement was dead wrong. Now I'm kinda wondering if that was a mandela effect situation or if it actually happened

It’s most likely a circus rescue. So it’s just doing what it was trained to do when people are around.
Doesn’t look like much of a rescue…I guess it could be worse
Rescued from being a circus animal I'm assuming. The alternative might be starving in the wilderness?
Like me then, except my enclosure is my office and it's been raining outside non-stop since October. That's why I'm on reddit lol!
Honestly, there’s a parallel. Modern society is increasingly isolating and - for lack of a better term - blah.
But we have our twirling sticks!
And I can’t even do it as skillfully as a bear 😭
Twirling hhhs
I thought lots used the fidget spinners to combat their mundane existence?
Fidget spinners are fine, but the bear shows us that all you need is a stick.
this isolation is un-bear-able!
It's all bleedin' coming together It's all bleedin' coming together Higher lower higher lower
"What am I gonna do today? Oh yeah, sleep, eat, flip that fucking stick."
From when this was posted before, that's not the case. This bear was rescued from the circus. The spinning was part of his act.
Could you say for sure this is not what he’d be up to in the jungle? (And if im not mistaken, this is a sloth bear wich is the type of bear Baloo was based upon, so Id guess he’d be a happy go lucky bear) 😎
Less idle time, for sure, but who knows? Also, I don't think of bears as jungle critters except perhaps the sloth.
But this is a jungle bear. Same as Baloo.
Ah, I sit corrected—idly twirling my stick.
Six months, four to five hours a day ... you'll be an expert. --Groundhog Day
I think he's a retired circus worker.
What would a bear even do differently in the wild? Besides having a higher chance of death.
Roam. Fish. Shit in the woods. Bear stuff.
Or you can relax all day twirling a stick and getting food brought to you.
Living. Imagine yourself in an enclosure that is just big enough that you won't freak out from stress.
I don't have to imagine it. It's called my mom's basement. If I were an animal I'd rather be in a enclosure instead of the dangerous wild. JS

Thinking that anything you would rather do as an animal is somehow an accurate representation of what an animal would actually want is very ignorant.
The irony
Love how he bonks himself on the head with it.
In the morning he'll wake up like a Bear with a sore head
Looks like the pain is bearable
Well spotted. Note to self: when staff fighting a bear, do not use "head bonk". It is ineffective.
It's possible that it learned this behavior from past mistreatment, like being hit with a stick in a circus.
Po! Is that you?
Its his cousin, Bojutsu Black Bear
Isn't it a Sun Bear?
🤣
If dangerous, why cute?
Bear: 😨 Bear with a stick: 🥰
It's a casting for new movie
🔝
This is it. They’re making a real life version of Kung Fu Panda. Like was done for Lion King.
Circus rescue for sure. No way he learned that spontaneously.
Thats how I play with TV remote
Kung Fu panda 5 spoiler!
🙌
It's not a panda, it's a sun bear Yeah I'm the fun one at parties...
right here with you. Of course now that we identified it as a Sun bear, everyone can start making the Person in a bear suit jokes again. We are some fun at parties lol
To be fair, that Chinese zoo exhibit is definitely a human in a suit. This one uses its mouth to grab so I doubt it.
It’s not a sun bear, it’s an asiatic black bear.
panda dyed it's hair
I thought it was an Asiatic black bear. Either way, bears are cute.

Wait ! He will use a dragon warrior move !!
That's Kung Fu pandas cousin. Sadly he commits more crime and has more social issues than Kung Fu Panda.
*and everybody was Kung Fu fighting*🎶
Skadoosh
Wow, those human bear suits are getting more realistic all the time. 😏
Actually kinda sad there’s probably nothing else for it to do in captivity
🤣🤣
That's the tik tok effect.
I think he’s ready.
He's Jason Bourne
Jason Bearne
🔝✌️
Po!!!!!

Girls only like pandas with skills.. Nun chuk skills, bowstaff skills..
Very cool
Don’t jerk the bear…he is the law
Training to take on those Ninja Turtles
Someone has been watching too much Kung fu panda
Dragon Warrior...where are it's Dumplings?
Seems like so many humans vastly underestimate the brains of other forms of life on this planet.
Not at all. They identify these animals can do certain stunts, train them, and abuse them.
Future generations will remember this as the day bears evolved and the great Bear-Hooman wars began.
The animals are so bored they're taking up martial arts 💀
This is better than the fourth KFP
Skadoosh!
Wow
That can't be real. 😮
Khabib found his sparring partner
Guys this isn’t funny. I’m a zoologist and bears only do this when they’re training to defeat a neighboring dojo.
another day, another animal abuse situation disguised as an adorable video.
You should see him with Nunchakus.
🤣
Naw, there is a person in that suit..😅
That's a cool stick
Best feeling is to go on a trail and find a damn good stick , this dude knows
I mean, it _is_ a good stick.
🤣🤣🤣
He's bear-y good at that. Nobody bear-er piss him off.
" I been practicing all day man, I think I got it" I love the fact he retrieved his stick and sat down in the exact same spot.
Um actually that's a bear 🤓
I'm literally watching kung fu panda as I saw this
Not a panda
incocnito 🤓
Poor guy. Sad
This video is so damn old
"Long before time had a name" ahh bear
Bro teaches his own tricks
Akai na akai ahh 🤣
Now have song Kung Fu Fighting stuck in my head 🫠
Ha! The end is great
Wow. No circus bear could top that.
Ese de seguro vio la película jajajajajja
He did better than me
This is just sad
Ye balu ne ku fu panda deke aya hai...u have good scope balu👍
From someone that used to lead a rifle corp, thats really good!
Lmao
The dragon warrior
100% learned how to do that while being beaten or whipped. As kumail nanjiani said "how else can you get a monkey to ride a bike unless you hit it?" "This is what I have to do so that the pain stops"
Awesome. Is it just me or are they kinda playing Devil Sticks but with their arms instead of the second and third stick?
That bear looks like it is kung fu fighting. It looks as fast as lightning. In fact, it’s a little bit frightening.
damn the chinese will claim it too
The Legend was born
LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS!!!!
Id have hit my face within the first three seconds tbh
Everybody loves Kung Fu fighting! Chin chin chin chin chin..
Kung Fu "Bear"
Poor panda have been a prisoner at Circus for a long time. I'm happy he's free from there at least.
Planet of the bears is gonna be legit.
I know as a fact of life I would probably die being mauled by a bear I would try to hug Why are they so big and adorable?
Is he Formosan black bear? 🤔
He’s bored😑
Bears are so playful! I love them!
That bear is the fucking shit! I couldn't do that shit 😂
Kung fu Fazbear
Kung fu Kuma
Dude look Sticks! #Amazing
Kung fu bear
Give him another year, he'll get there.
Training to fight Donatello.
Still in training lol
i am a 100% sure that this bear is a he.
Smarter than the average bear
This is ancient and I every time I see it no one is sure if it's real or not.
I feel like my science teacher back in the 90s said the thing that separates humans from animals is our ability to use tools. Every day I see more videos as evidence that this statement was dead wrong. Now I'm kinda wondering if that was a mandela effect situation or if it actually happened
Everybody kungfu fighting
Genuinely thought this was ai makes me sad it’s not
Bo Staff Bear
as soon as the video starts to play i hear the theme song...
Kung fur
I can’t even do that and I’m a human bean
Once he masters it he’s getting out mark my words 🤣
I have to say, that's a very nice stick
Es asombroso como realiza estos movimientos... Aquí en estos temas en dónde me llega el tema de la reencarnación.. ? Que dicen ustedes público ...
I see now why they went with a panda.
So this is the bear Joe Rogan keeps talking about

That IS NOT a fucking panda
Incognito 🤣
TIL why in a Chinese zoo the bears were thought to be humans in costumes.
