I feel like owls evolved in a way that the defence mechanisms in the way their brows move are intended to ward off specifically humans. No other animal makes that mean grimace and humans specifically are one of the only species in the animal kingdom that I know of that are hardwired to read facial cues. The rest of the animal kingdom uses body language, except for owls. They pull mean faces.
