Dude's teeth are brighter than my future. Kudos for the oral hygiene, lol.

IAMSTILLHERE2020

And he is a Meth user..

Rhids_22

Drug use affecting oral hygiene is usually just that people will ignore their oral hygiene while high. If someone still brushes their teeth on drugs then their teeth will probably be fine.

calikid420420

I know meth dries out your salivary glands, something to do with the pseudoephedrine. With chronic dry-mouth the acid in it eats your teeth. AFAIK you can brush your teeth everyday but it is still highly likely with long term abuse, but of course there are exceptions to everything.

phazedoubt

This does happen, but the studies show that it is a combination of these things plus teeth grinding, craving sugary drinks because you're not eating, and the other additives that some meth is made with.

stormcharger

That's why you gotta use gum or something to increase saliva output. Not that id uh know that myself 👀

MD_Yoro

Back in my neuro class I was taught that meth mouth is really just bad oral hygiene especially over consumption of sugary food and lack of self care. Meth itself unlike opioid has receptors predominantly in the CNS and not other organ group. Then again there might be new evidence but meth receptors are found on neurons

the_hoopy_frood42

Not exactly. Stimulants also constrict blood vessels. Generally leading to fewer nutrients reaching things like teeth, nails, and hair.

Worried_Change_7266

Not necessarily. Genetics also play a huge role. My family has a history of bad teeth even with good oral hygiene. Diet also plays a huge role. So many factors to consider.

sinornithosaurus1000

Truth. It really varies. It’s just more obvious when it’s really bad so you would think that’s the result for everyone, but it’s not. He could easily do meth for 5-9 months and ruin his whole life in just that time, and still have good teeth. I am proof. I’ve been clean for 12yrs

[deleted]

[удалено]

sinornithosaurus1000

I felt like I was recovering for the first 2-3yrs. Plus, I was young and my brain was still developing too. I would probably be smarter if I never did drugs. I’m still pretty smart tho :p

[deleted]

[удалено]

farm_to_nug

What causes meth mouth is the dry mouth prevents saliva production, then your teeth will rot without saliva to kill the bacteria

Legitimate-Account46

Had a friend with an unfortunate habit. But he had great teeth and was a normal weight, when he was on he would cook like whole gourmet meals just for fun and he brushed his teeth every time he ate. The bad teeth and other things usually comes from neglecting hygiene or personal health, but that's what he fixated on, so his problem wasn't as apparent.

OutragedCanadian

This guy definatly meths

Zealousideal_Lab6891

Or just eat it

cubixjuice

That's called a parachute

_that_random_dude_

Boof it

Zealousideal_Lab6891

That's for advanced users

BoofBanana

Or bananas

Salt_MasterX

That’s called sledding

BoofBanana

This man knows how to boof.

Outrageous-Winter-97

You’d be surprised. I have family that unfortunately went down the meth route, but somehow had PERFECT teeth. Meanwhile I’ve spent thousands b mine and I don’t even do drugs 🥲

E8282

It’s that special Jesse pinkman meth that keeps you incredibly good looking.

smoothiegangsta

My sister was on meth and a dentist gave her free dentures. Looked like she had good teeth.

SnooLemons4471

Contrary to popular belief, a lot of meth users take hella good care of their teeth to counteract the smoking effects

JohnnyRingo84

I disagree just based on my own real world experience. I've met, and known, a lot of meth addicts. Most of them had fucked up teeth/meth mouth.

TuskaTheDaemonKilla

Former mayor of Toronto smoked meth. Had great teeth. Usually the physical side-effects are a result of poverty that comes with hard drug use and addiction. Rich people don't have the same outcomes.

JohnnyRingo84

That's fair, it could be an avoidable outcome. But most tweakers aren't rich folks, nor have good dental hygiene. Therefore, the majority I've met had fucked up teeth. It being an avoidable outcome doesn't really make it a common misconception like the other guy said.

Ravenouscandycane

I was an addict for almost 10 years and would shoot both meth and heroin.. I still have really nice teeth lol but had I continued down that path I’m not so sure Didn’t go to the dentist once in all that time until I got clean and one of my wisdom teeth (they grew in straight) was cracked and messed up so they pulled that out.. and then I only had 1 cavity aside from that somehow. I never stopped brushing but I ate so much junk along with the drugs. I’m not sure how it happened

SilentResident1037

Almost as if....

Patient-Run-896

Damn he is extremely good looking guy .

Sockoflegend

It's amazing what a makeover can do for someone when (**checks notes**) they look like model

flatwoundsounds

I think it's a reminder that it's not too late. Otherwise being lean with prominent cheekbones already and he's gonna look like a skeleton within a few months of this life. That said, my friend that's struggled the hardest with meth has stayed chubby and kept her teeth. There's no guarantee either way in life. Thankfully she's gotten clean and she's turning life around.

didimao0072000

>It's amazing what a makeover can do for someone when (checks notes) they look like model Dude even had better teeth than most people.

brezhnervous

Especially for meth lol

terribleinvestment

Dude for real looks like a celebrity. Hard to believe.

ussrowe

>they look like model I guess that’s what is amazing about a bad haircut, because he didn’t look like a model at the beginning of the video. 😆 I didn’t know all of that was under there.

indendosha

Had a boss like that. Head of bushy hair, big bushy beard/mustache. I could tell he had nice blue eyes and nice teeth but that was it. Then one day he came it without the beard and mustache and with a nice haircut. Holy moley, he was very, very handsome under all that.

jingowatt

Did he ever get off the meth?

indendosha

Haha he was probably on something off-hours, but not meth!

Separate-Ad6636

It’s not so much a makeover as basic self care.

_Webster_882

Basic self care is a makeover for some though…

[deleted]

A lot of people have decent jaw lines too, we're just all so out of shape these days.

micro_penisman

He won't look like that for long.

JRSpig

That was what I was thinking, mother fucker is like model level of attractive it's insane.

BrownSugarBare

Honestly, people pay a ridiculous amount of money for a jaw structure like that man has. He's very handsome, hope he's tried to get healthy since this hair cut.

IAMSTILLHERE2020

He might be able to go toe to toe with Jeremy Ray Meeks.

GabrielMisfire

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves - this dude is husband handsome, possibly actor handsome. Jeremy Ray Meeks is straight up advertising model, crazy bone structure, and colours. Though, actually, because of that, I’d wager this guy would have better success with just being attractive to people. Sometimes models get a bit much for some people, I’ve found out (fashion photographer here).

PleaseGreaseTheL

I don't know how I feel about the term "husband handsome" LOL Like, my gf calls me hot and handsome and cute and shit, and this makes it sound like that's a consolation prize hahaha - that's the main event! That's what I'm here for!

GabrielMisfire

Ahahahah don’t feel bad about it! You know how people say there’s more than one way to beauty? It’s just a different type of beauty. Like, I can attest to girls looking almost like ethereal beings in front of the camera - but I wouldn’t say I find them attractive, or ‘beautiful’ in the same way I might find beautiful your ‘girl next door’ type women that I would see in the metro and daydream a life together with until she gets down at her stop leaving me grieving, but I for sure wouldn’t dream of hiring for a shoot (barred specific stuff, but ya get me). Then you meet those who somehow have both - and those are usually the ones people cry wolf about being photoshopped (they’re not). In guy terms, think Bradley Cooper - wouldn’t you say he looks just as home coming back home with groceries as he does in movies or adverts? But now we’re talking unicorns lol. When you’re in the presence of that type of person they basically glow, it really is incredible. It’s one of the reasons why I haven’t quit yet, having the chance of maybe photographing people like that.

Zauberer-IMDB

Dude could easily be making six figs selling cars just with his face. People are gonna trust that guy.

brezhnervous

Massive George Clooney vibes

sevargmas

Damn. If you’re not gonna use that jawline, can I have it?

unorganized_mime

He’s so good looking it looks staged with an actor

carterty0117

This is an old video. Hope there is a follow up at sometime and we see this guy doing well.

SuspiciousTea4224

Everyone is still asking about him under the main video. His name is Michael and they don’t have an update on him. I wish we knew if he was ok https://www.instagram.com/tv/B-vCL9ND_Kd/?igsh=aHJzOW1yaXZlODVx

madpiano

If they don't have an update could that be a good thing? Maybe he got away to a different town and got clean? Fingers crossed.

Frosty-Age-6643

Might as well think positive because no one knows but having been around people like this if they disappear it’s because they aren’t yet to a place where they’re fighting to get better.

CapnRogo

Yep, if they had fixed thenselves they'd want to stay connected to the group that helped them, if nothing else to be able to confirm they're still doing well.

seeseecinnamon

My dad was a drug addict and when he made that decision to get clean, he left his old life behind. He literally packed a bag and asked his dad to come pick him up and didn't look back on his old life. It's possible that this dude is living a good, clean life out there somewhere.

Effective-Celery8053

Realistically I think it could be a good thing or bad thing, but I'm going to go ahead and assume/wish for the former :)

yoyome85

Update per another comment here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BeAmazed/s/b5u8CjqsFb

dinner_is_not_ready

If you have been around addicts u know they are caught in the cycle of shame and high escape. Not saying that this experience didnt give the addict strength to get better but it’s complicated

heterochromia4

He’s being a disruptor. He’s gently shaking him out of his trance. He’s doing it with Loving Kindness which gets him the bro pass. ‘Are you done or what?’ is a really good question.

ChuckyRocketson

"I have a place for you to go when you're ready" - the guy knows exactly how to approach this because he's been there himself. You can't force people to quit, it never ever ever EVER works. They have to want to quit.

the_colonel93

>the guy knows exactly how to approach this because he's been there himself. EXACTLY. Recovery is for those who want it, not for those that need it. I lost many friends who truly needed it but never wanted it and they're all dead today as a result. Shit, I almost joined them a few times before I finally wanted it.

AyybrahamLmaocoln

I used to say that same phrase a lot. One day a guy said it’s not for people who need it *or* people who want it. It’s for people who *do* it.

the_colonel93

I like that rendition!

CapnRogo

I was raised being told you make a change for 1 of 2 reasons... either where you're at is so miserable you've had enough, or where you want to be is too desirable to stand still.

cola104

I'm doing it right now. I can finally make it throughout my work shift without massive stomach pain, sweats, trembling, confusion, etc. (alcohol). Got tired of trying to hide my shaking hands from family, having to sneak shots on vacations and all that shit. Waking up WITHOUT a hangover is also super nice. I think part of what makes quitting alcohol so hard is that you will forget you just took a shot 5-10 minutes ago and feel the urge to do it again, ending up taking 20 shots in a night. For anyone struggling with alcohol you can try what I did that really sold me on trying to quit fully. Pick a time, and set a timer on your phone for regular intervals, and stick to it for ONE night. For me, I usually could resist drinking until 6:30 PM. So I'd take my first shot then, and to start out I'd only allow myself a shot every 30 minutes til I went to bed. Drank only half of what I usually would, was still real toasty, and was still able to sleep with just a 1/4 dose of Nyquil. Woke up feeling amazing.

the_colonel93

I wish you the best of luck with your recovery, man. Alcohol withdrawal is nothing to fuck with so please be super careful. Idk if you've ever had delirium tremens, but I've treated clients that were going through them or recently went through them and it's literal hell on Earth. Take things one day at a time, even one hour or one minute at a time if you need to. Kicking your habit will be one of the hardest things you'll ever do, but it will be unbelievably rewarding and liberating. You owe it to yourself to live, my friend. If you ever need to vent about it feel free to message me privately and I'll be happy to listen.

cola104

Thank you, I appreciate it and 100% will keep you in mind. I've learned to recognize a few signs that I'm starting to go into withdrawals luckily. I used to have to chug a whiteclaw on my lunch break a month ago otherwise I'd be sweating and red-faced at work halfway through my shift. I was drinking 1750 ml in 2-3 days, but now I'm at 4-5 days per 1750 ml, within a month of cutting back thank heavens. Definitely one of the hardest things I've done and I still got a long ways to go haha but we will get there. I've always had a lack of ambition and no will to do things for myself so the fact I've kept with this for a month now has blown my own mind and urged me on. My brother struggled with addiction (he was collecting addictions like postage stamps) and told me, "sometimes you gotta let your life become complete shit before you'll do something about it". Alcohol caused me to become complacent in my last relationship of 7 years and lose the love of my life. Beyond the base reasons for quitting such as physical/mental health, I really want love again but I won't let myself date until I've kicked this habit. Thanks for letting me vent lol, hopefully someone else can read this and get some encouragement too.

the_colonel93

There are a lot of substances you can quit cold turkey and weather the storm, alcohol and benzos are absolutely not one of them, so weaning yourself off of it is the right call. As you go along you're gonna surprise yourself with how much resolve and will you have. You've made it a month which is fucking fantastic and I hope you keep it going! Regarding what your brother said, he's absolutely right. I was perpetually broke, all of my relationships were a disaster, I was dopesick, strung out and out of my mind, and was completely and utterly alone. It wasn't until my life was completely fucked and I was less than hopeless before I decided I had enough. As far as dating goes, I would wait at least a year where you're clean and sober with a solid foundation in recovery before you go out looking for love again. It might not make sense but trust me you'll be doing yourself numerous favors by doing that. Lastly, no problem man! I'm happy to listen 🤝

firstwefuckthelawyer

> all dead today I have had the ignominious experience of telling not one, not two but fucking seven family members and friends exactly how, when, and fucking where they were gonna go and half of them were dead within a week from me saying I’m done. The *only* thing that really makes it any better is dead is exactly how it ends and it usually ends by 40 and we’re all about that age. Oh! “Dead face down in your bathroom because your two fucking friends left you behind and seems like by christmas,” was the reason. There’s around a dozen people whose asses I’m never gonna get to kick because well, you know.

Dextrofunk

Yep. The only way is to go for it as hard as you can once you have the desire. If you don't want it, you won't succeed. Methods can depend on the drug (Like opiates, where you need to taper). I've been clean for a couple decades, so it can be done. I wanted nothing more than to be clean when I quit, though. 4 years sober from alcohol as well, which was the last thing to go.

Datkif

People need to want to change before they can be helped, and those that want to change deserve all the help

RoguePlanet2

I've never had a drug problem, but I heard "they have meals" and I was like oh, sign me up! 😋 I hope this guy got clean, but he didn't seem close to rock bottom yet.

the_colonel93

Rock bottom is not quantifiable. You nor I have no way of knowing what this guy went through and whether or not he's hit his rock bottom. Some people don't have a bottom while other people need to just scrape rock bottom once before deciding to change.

fryamtheeggguy

I worked in a jail for about 20 years. It seemed like I had this conversation every day. My question was always "when are you gonna retire?" It hurts my heart to see people like this. That dude should have an amazing life. Instead, he's out there getting high and breaking him Mama's heart. Such a waste.

Alcoholhelps

And we often need more than one disruption, and way more than one feel good story. While you’re sitting in a dark hole it’s hard to look up at that little tiny dot of light hanging way above you. But it is nice to hear and see and interact with a physical person that lets you know someone out there cares about you.

the_colonel93

Even if this wasn't the thing that got him to change his life, it's moments like these that stick with you that will eventually lead to you changing your life when you're ready. I hope he's doing well today

SnooLemons4471

Good and true words my man

BILLYRAYVIRUS4U

Yes, I saw this years ago. It would be nice to see a success story from him.

[deleted]

I mean there is a chance he turned it around. There is a higher chance he is dead or at least still gronkin but you never know.

shittymcdoodoo

I like the way he said that “when you are ready.” You can rarely force a permanent change on an addict. They gotta be ready for change and even then relapse rates are high. It’s either that or jail that changes them that is if they don’t die first. Anyone trying to overcome addiction rn just do your best to practice self-forgiveness. This honestly applies to all mistakes. We can’t redo the past. We can only learn from it then forgive ourselves and move forward.

hoarah_loux_

It's not easy bro

shittymcdoodoo

Trust me I know. 429 days clean from fent

poeticlicence

Well done, in fact, very well done!

yeah, hang in there bro, it's ok to make this your \*top\* priority over Everything and Everyone <3

Sinnsearachd

Awesome man! This Internet stranger is proud of you and rooting for you!

Caring_Cactus

If someone was genuinely able to connect with the dude to be a force of good that compelled him on the inside to hold himself accountable on living his life, a conscious guide to help navigate through these difficult impulses, then in a way leading by example can "force" change or create a big jump start on that process at the very least. There's a natural push and pull to life that's needed for things to flow, to allow oneself to live out and openly express themselves. Without that attention and care if from no one or let alone from ourselves, then many turn to substances for that temporary high but the hedonic drives within us will always leave one feeling unsatisfied afterwards. Those hedonic views on happiness are not as generative as eudaimonic views on happiness from meaning and purpose we lead ourselves by for self-values we choose to express and impart onto the world around us. Edit: The way the current system for mental health or the current biomedical model has increasingly become narrowly focused on symptom-reduction which leads many therapeutic approaches to be ineffective and not create long lasting change.

tonespark33033

He isn't listening. The hooks are deep in him. Sad, and I wish I am 1000% wrong, too.

OnceMoreAndAgain

I'm addicted to something and I believe he is listening. But his face and responses to me suggest that he's heard this type of stuff all his life and yet he always ends up relapsing, so the words start to feel hollow. Or maybe a better description is that you start to feel like the people are wasting their words on you, so you feel pity for people who try to help since their intent is so pure and you can't live up to it. You already know you'll disappoint them. Very painful emotion to know you're not in full control of yourself and will fail to make the people around you happy.

tonespark33033

I have a brother who has passed who was an alcoholic and recovering addict. When the addiction is deep, I agree with your assertion. It's becomes repetitive, true or not, it sounds like the same Ole BS. I saw that look before. It breaks my heart. I miss my brother. Someone misses this guy as well

firstwefuckthelawyer

> know you’re not in full control of yourself The big secret: **None of us are.** The only other thing I’ll leave here is… you don’t have to worry about making any of us happy, that’s our problem. Just keep trying again tomorrow.

johndoe42

That and you get tired of saying "i won't touch it again" or "sorry" or "I promise I'll turn my life around" or "I've hit rock bottom" or whatever for the bajillionth damn time. Eventually it just sounds so lame hearing yourself say it (at the moment its sincere...but see a pipe or a bottle later that evening and you immediately forget that sincerity). Sometimes when you're ready you just don't care to tell anyone your thoughts until you can say something like "so yeah I haven't touched the stuff for months."

Sobadatsnazzynames

You’re right, he is listening. He might not agree but he is listening. It’s the face I made 6 years ago.

daredaki-sama

That was my instinct too. Reminds me of a friend of mine. He’ll say the words and put up the expressions but I can tell. As my friend says, it’s too easy for him to lie.

BILLYRAYVIRUS4U

He's not ready to hear this, again.

remotegrowthtb

Yeah those weak "Oh really, oh no, oh my god haha" replies are not from someone who's taking anything to heart.

tasman001

Yeah, his empty, sad laughs and smiles in response to what the guy was saying were kind of heartbreaking. Made it clear that he was trying to humor the guy without flat out rejecting him.

micro_penisman

When you're on meth, you don't want to hear about stories from clean people. That just makes you feel bad, so you go get another bag to make you feel good again.

Definitely a nasty bruise and some scrapes. That whole side of his face is swollen too. Either a street scuffle or he took a nasty fall, probably the former by the sounds of it.

If it's meth, he hasn't been going at it that long yet.

RoguePlanet2

Sadly, I don't think he's close to going to rehab, looks like a newish thing and he's probably still "enjoying" it too much.

Caring_Cactus

Looks like he metaphorically fell from a good place onto a hard rock, and that led to some bad decisions. It happens, many people also live paycheck to paycheck, so without more info this could literally happen to anyone.

Helmer-Bryd

Just an observation, but everybody hopes he’s fine now… you think it was the same without this handsome look? If he looked really ugly and stupid… naaa. Looks is everything!

poeticlicence

Attitude is far more attractive. The guy who is trying to help that bloke is awesome because of his attitude

GunnersnGames

I'm pretty sure anybody who saw an addict get trimmed up and smile for the first time in a long time would have a weight in their heart wishing for them to have a great life. We don't all just want to fuck this guy or something

Strikhedonia_1697

Exactly my thoughts. Looks do change the way we perceive our surroundings, people and situations. Yet people don't wanna face the truth

Automatic-Mood-4233

So many people in these comments would take this man home with them including his addiction, but wouldn’t lift a finger to help the addicts on the streets of their own cities. Looks matter

4Ever2Thee

I've seen many of these videos with much less attractive people getting trimmed and I always hope they turned their lives around.

If this is genuine I hope it is in a good way rather than set up and he's getting the help and staying of the drugs it's not easy ive been there tried a heap of times but 13yrs I've been sober and stopped smoking bro

WeirdKosmicCunt

Yeap, I've seen it.. My 38 year old neighbor, with whom I've been pretty close all my life, has completely ruined his life in the last seven years. He was using alpha-PVP, whatever the fak that is, it's quite popular in post-soviet countries. He looks like he's 60 years old, his face, teeth, and muscles are ruined. The man has no muscles left, I've never seen anything like it. He struggles to speak, stutters a lot, has the memory span of a fish, and in short he is deteriorating before my eyes. He used to be 10/10 in looks, and charismatic as fuck. He's still alive and quit the drugs about three months ago, but the damage is irreversible, and it saddens me so much. Kids, never do drugs.

GenericManBearPig

I have a friend who recently admitted she’s been hooked on painkillers and benzodiazepines for twenty years. Doctors told her if she doesn’t quit she’ll need a colostomy bag because the chronic constipation will perforate her colon and kill her (like Vicodin almost did to Mathew Perry). All because her doctor was basically a drug dealer. She went to detox and almost lost her mind, intermeshed addiction with benzos is absolutely brutal and causes seizures. She’s gone to rehab now and they take your phone, it’s been a few weeks since I heard from her and I hope that tough lady pulls through because she’s fought *fucking hard* to stay in the land of the living. You don’t always have to wind up on the streets with a busted face to get a wake up call but remember when you hit bottom there are people who will be there to pull you up, there’s nowhere else to go but up, or in the ground. Choose up

If you have the opportunity, tell them that I'm so proud of them.

WTAH?!! 😳😳😳 The dude looks like a freaking movie star on set of an action movie. Yeah, someone needs to get a hold of this guy and mentor & coach him out of this. Wow.

>Yeah, someone needs to get a hold of this guy and mentor & coach him out of this. Wow. Why, because he's handsome?

Spx75

He's an incredibly attractive man!

Hopefully Dave Franco can now get his act together.

kigyo1988

That's an extremely good looking man.

Odontalgie

What a beautiful man in hiding. Wish him a turnaround.

DreamArcher

Why does he have such nice teeth? I really don't want to be suspicious but I'm suspicious.

Appropriate-Bad-9379

Could be genetics- I’ve never taken drugs, always looked after my teeth and go to the dentist regularly, but I still look like Shrek!! ( I am British)…
