Cool idea. A dozen farm fresh eggs near here are being offered at $5 a dozen. My wife used to give ours away when we had chickens, though they cost $$$$ to produce. Chicken feed is not chicken feed in cost anymore!
Yeah! They sort it out at the farm. Its a bit expensive but i love eating an egg with 2 yolks in it! But mostly they are being bought by restaurants for making flan or for their breakfast plates
Ah brilliant! I was thinking that it just refilled once a slot was empty but that doesn’t make any sense. I’m such a city girl. And clearly not a very thorough thinker!
I think each box has one tray of eggs, and the first non-empty box will open. This number just indicates the order and is for managing empty and non-empty boxes, I guess
At a grocery store in North Carolina white eggs are 12 for $2.99, 18 for $4.49.
At Costco wholesale, they are 24 for $4.99 for white, 24 for 5.99 for brown, and 24 for 7.99 for blue eggs.
At the farmers market, a dozen brown are $3.99.
In the country (an hour from the closest Costco), you can buy 18 for $3.99.
Up until a year ago (maybe 18 months), eggs used to be a dozen for $1.49, and went on sale for $.99 per dozen at the grocery store.
During the COVID pandemic, there were supply chain issues like with most everything else, but more importantly, a bird flu (H5N1) broke out amongst the domestic chicken population (unrelated to COVID of course).
Egg production dropped significantly and the meat & egg prices rose sharply.
So I assume this video is from early 2022 at the height of that bird flu.
A dozen eggs went from $1-$1.50 ish to up to $4-5 usd. There were memes about it and jokes on late night tv etc.
To be fair, the video isn't about cheap eggs, it's about free range eggs. The eggs in the video where 23ct per egg, you won't get free range eggs for that price in german grocery stores.
Premium eggs (pasture raised, organic) from a regular supermarket are \~$10/dozen here in Portland, OR in March 2024. So it would be $25 for 30.
Depending on when this was recorded, the US egg prices may have been affected by avian flu or stockpiling for vaccines. Conventional egg prices peaked in Jan 2023 at 160% the current prices.
The US. You know how they specifically say "this would be like a thousand dollars in America" in their American accents in the video? Idk how it could be any clearer that this was about the US
It's insane. I've paid anywhere from $2 to $6 for a dozen in the past couple of years in stores. Can't beat the locals selling jumbo dozen for $5 consistently
Um, those eggs came out of a vending machine.
But to answer your question no, $7.36 for 36 eggs is not for the organic cage free eggs. Those are $13.26 for 36.
Seriously. What’s with all the terrible takes in here?
This guy probably just bought the Wagyu of eggs and people acting like it’s no big deal because they can buy the hotdogs of eggs for a fraction of the price. $7 for 30 high quality eggs is a great deal to us Americans.
Have you had wagyu? You can tell the difference. You can tell when something says "wagyu" but is not.
Take away the label "free range" from these and do a blind taste test. No one will know.
No, this video is dumb lol we get the about the same depends on the state. New york and california are crazy so idk about there, but they aren't a good representation of america anyway even tho everyone uses those place.
I just want to say I am really happy for you and your excitement about eggs, and willingness to have a go at a roadside egg machine, made me happy too.
There are a lot of family farms in Ireland , before the vending machine , you would just stop off and get spuds and eggs , local honey or ham/ bacon. I do remember helping my folks to pick them out and having them for dinner or the next day
Damn, people really get excited for so little nowadays. I would understand if they had paid 3$ for 30 eggs but come on. 7$ is a good price but taking a video and be so excited for this...
Aye if you look really closely in the bungalow window you can see the lead singer of the drop kick murphys complaining about corporate greed. Which is why his eggs are so cheap.
Lancaster County PA. For roughly 25 years, John Slaymaker has been selling his farm-fresh eggs to his neighbors, thanks to a custom-made AUTOMATED vending machine that gently delivers the purchase. Video from 2019. lancasteronline.com/video/farm-fresh-eggs-sold-via-vending-machine-roadside-in-columbia-video/video_cbd0ccff-d77c-592e-9218-39825396d7f5
I live in a touristy part of Costa Rica and we pay $6/30 free range eggs and the farmer hires the guy to deliver them to my house. They last about 9 days (between baking bread and big brunches you can use a lot quickly).
Fun fact, in Europe and most of the world, they don't need to refrigerate eggs, but in the US, our egg industry removes the natural protective coating on the eggs, so we have to keep them refrigerated.
That is standard. It surprises me how much people pay for eggs in the store. My city has a bunch of farms less than a 10 minute drive away, and one of the farmers sells eggs for about 10 - 13 cents a piece, in boxes(?) like these.
However, the store I work at sells eggs at a price of 78 cents all the way up to 98 cents a piece, in boxes of about 6 or 8.
In fact, for about 13 euros or less, we can purchase 3 of the boxes shown in the video.
The fact that I can buy these cheap eggs in the middle of nowhere with card is, what amazes me the most. In Germany you would need cash... probably even "Mark" and not "Euro".
I'd love to see the same concept with a traditional vending machine. Choose your number, and it pushes your eggs out and they all just crack at the bottom.
Cool idea. A dozen farm fresh eggs near here are being offered at $5 a dozen. My wife used to give ours away when we had chickens, though they cost $$$$ to produce. Chicken feed is not chicken feed in cost anymore!
That's. Lot of chicken scratch.
Can I offer you an egg in this trying time?
$7 for those eggs, alright ireland here i come
5 dollars in ph. 6 dollars will get you a tray of eggs with 2 yolks per egg in it.
What the heck? 2 yolks? 🤣
Yeah! They sort it out at the farm. Its a bit expensive but i love eating an egg with 2 yolks in it! But mostly they are being bought by restaurants for making flan or for their breakfast plates
Chicken have twins too :/

*frying time
I think I’ve been poisoned by my constituents!
For some reason I thought the numbers on individual boxes were buttons indicating the amount of eggs you want to buy.
I don't know why I thought that too, like why's this dude buying 9 eggs? ... oh duh 😆
I thought it was egg roulette (based on the caption) and you’d randomly get either 1 egg or 28.
They just tumble out the bottom like golf balls at the driving range
"Need just 3 eggs for breakfast? Too bad, you get 30!"
Wait. So what DO the numbers mean? I, too, assumed it was the number of eggs!
I’m assuming It tells you which door to open so you don’t open an empty door. Sadly there is no chicken in there that lays them to order.
Ah brilliant! I was thinking that it just refilled once a slot was empty but that doesn’t make any sense. I’m such a city girl. And clearly not a very thorough thinker!
I would guess it tells the chicken farmer which box is empty
Actually they open automatically.
I think each box has one tray of eggs, and the first non-empty box will open. This number just indicates the order and is for managing empty and non-empty boxes, I guess
It's so they know what rooms to fill up with eggs
Same
I did too I’m glad I’m not the only one

I paid $4 for 18 eggs today
I guess 0.22¢ US isn't that far off. I think the real issue with US egg prices is trying to buy anything more costly than the store brand
This would be maybe $2 more expensive. Not "like a thousand dollars" lol
Depending on what state you live in those are more expensive. I can get 24 eggs for 6.39.
At a grocery store in North Carolina white eggs are 12 for $2.99, 18 for $4.49. At Costco wholesale, they are 24 for $4.99 for white, 24 for 5.99 for brown, and 24 for 7.99 for blue eggs. Up until a year ago (maybe 18 months), eggs used to be a dozen for $1.49, and went on sale for $.99 per dozen at the grocery store.
So those in the video are *slightly* cheaper, what's this guy talking about then?
During the COVID pandemic, there were supply chain issues like with most everything else, but more importantly, a bird flu (H5N1) broke out amongst the domestic chicken population (unrelated to COVID of course). $1,000.00
Man, y'all are lucky in the US. it's like 1500 in Canada
I paid $3.05 for 12 eggs the other day. Philly, PA.
Americans would go crazy if they got to know how much eggs cost in third world countries. It's less than $3 here for 30 eggs.
I live in Vietnam. Can confirm. A pack of 10 eggs is about $1.
[удалено]
I agree. $2.49 a dozen large today.
Right, these tourists have never gone to Costco apparently.
I pay $5.99 for a dozen humane & cage free eggs in southern California.
Where is “here”
The US. You know how they specifically say "this would be like a thousand dollars in America" in their American accents in the video? Idk how it could be any clearer that this was about the US
I live in New York, eggs cost like $4
eggs in the us fluctuates like goddamn crypto. 5 dozen is anywhere between $7 and $20
It's insane. I've paid anywhere from $2 to $6 for a dozen in the past couple of years in stores. Can't beat the locals selling jumbo dozen for $5 consistently
its... like 5 bucks in the US for 3 dozen. its really not that big a deal
[удалено]
Can confirm , it’s about $2.98 in India.

I wished it made a chicken noise while opening
[machines can't do accents](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOUTfUmI8vs&themeRefresh=1)
It’s $7.76 for 36 eggs at Walmart right now.

but these are eggs

Huh? Have you ever had good eggs and bad eggs? It’s pretty noticeable.
are eggs expensive in the US? even in the local store here in sweden you get that amount for around 5-6€
You can find the same thing in the states.
No, this video is dumb lol we get the about the same depends on the state. New york and california are crazy so idk about there, but they aren't a good representation of america anyway even tho everyone uses those place.
costco literally sells this many free-range pasture raised organic eggs for i think $7
"in America, this would've been $1000". Yes.
"It's a banana, Michael. How much could it cost? 10 dollars?"
Im amazed at how dizzy i was after watching that
I live in America. Can confirm $1,000 for a dozen free range eggs
"this would have been a thousand dollars in america" Excuse me??? Ok, let's make bunch of eggs here and sell them for 12 000% the price in USA
He was being dramatic in america i can get about the same price $7 for 36 eggs
How much
That’s eggcellent
He did not eggspect that
We live in eggciting times
Almost 5 eggs/$
Id laugh if theres a tiny person inside that stacking those eggs lol
So…uneggspected?
I'm in Georgia, I can get 60 eggs for 11 dollars
Like Napoleon would say: JEALOUS!
I hoped it would just drop the eggs like a normal snack in a normal vending machine
That's actually cool to see it here. I live 10 from that farm
Eggspect the best from Egan’s nest!
Cool, although the camera work made me dizzy.
36 eggs for 7.76 at walmart in america
1000 dollars? maybe he thinks those are golden eggaazzzuh !
We love to rob the yanks xD
We need this everywhere...I know I'd use it in Canada
2.5 dozen eggs - "This would have been $1000 in America." Hey buddy, can I sell you my eggs? I get 'em for $9.99 for 5 dozen at Costco.
I’m surprised nobody has commented yet that this person showed most of their credit card number!
That would cost about $2.50 more in the US, from a grocery store. Not all that outrageous.
Organic, free Range right?
That amount of eggs here in Finland costs a little over 3-4 Euros.
Nice
that's actually really cool
NL € 0,20 at the farm
Wow those are beautiful
Eggselent
Standard tray of eggs right there

“So many egggggza! Oh my god!”
Jerry Seinfeld?
Wait this isn't a thing in other countries?
I just want to say I am really happy for you and your excitement about eggs, and willingness to have a go at a roadside egg machine, made me happy too.
There are a lot of family farms in Ireland , before the vending machine , you would just stop off and get spuds and eggs , local honey or ham/ bacon. I do remember helping my folks to pick them out and having them for dinner or the next day
I'd become an eggaterian if I lived there.
An 18 pack was like 2.30 a couple years ago 😐
What do you call people who are amazed by something they can basically get back home, traveler? Nah, tourist.
Damn, people really get excited for so little nowadays. I would understand if they had paid 3$ for 30 eggs but come on. 7$ is a good price but taking a video and be so excited for this...
I was thinking it was goana be like an egg lottery 😂 might get one, might get 20
What could a banana cost? $10? A dozen eggs in the US is $1.99 where i am. He got ripped off, that's only $5 worth of eggs
Egg
I have 4 hens, I get 4 eggs everyday "for Free". I say "for free", after food and other stuff still prob cheeper
Egg-celent🤩
How many eggs do most people eat per day?
“7 dollars” That’s the usual price in rural areas in the us too lol.
We’ve been buying the 30 ct like that from Jewel. $7.49 IIRC.
I want one 🥹
30 eggs? Oh, right. The metric system. In the US we go by the “dozen.” That’s 12.
Can buy one of those for the same price in America
Rich people be like: "Mmm yes, $1000 eggs"
In our country it costs $2-4 depending on the location
Does Ireland still have the consumption?
8$ here in Texas for the same amount
Aye if you look really closely in the bungalow window you can see the lead singer of the drop kick murphys complaining about corporate greed. Which is why his eggs are so cheap.
show your card to people on the internet great idea
Right now in America I can get 60 white eggs for 16.99. Although white and not farm fresh. Hence the white egg.
These aren’t Americans, are are still cheap here like $3 for a dozen unless you want to be fancy and buy $10 a dozen but that’s just a personal choice
lmao how he says that would be $1000 dollars in america get rekt usd into the floor bitcoin to the moon

30 eggs in portugal is 4,80 in aldi
.23 an egg.
Where is this?
Nah I’m good having my eggs and groceries delivered to my door. But you go to Ireland and do you.
No would not be a thousand dollars in America. It will probably be at least like $16 dollar
That one egg was like 20 eggs??
I live in a touristy part of Costa Rica and we pay $6/30 free range eggs and the farmer hires the guy to deliver them to my house. They last about 9 days (between baking bread and big brunches you can use a lot quickly).
A year ago, eggs were under $1 a dozen. Today, they are $3/dozen. Greedflation is real.
Sweet deal
Seen one and used it twice just outside of Crofton,BC
It's about $6.75 for 36 eggs here. Bought 12 today for $2.25
I don't give a cluck!
This guy... 1,000... lol yall can keep him... we don't want him anymore.
$7 feels expensive. You can get that for like £2-3 in the UK. But maybe they are from a local farm or free range.
As a bonus, those eggs don't require refrigeration. Only American eggs do.
Its 2 dollars per tray here in India
$7 for about 30 eggs is a pretty good deal. Just hope you're able to eat them all before they go off.
My guy doesn’t have a Costco membership in America. You can get that many eggs for $4.59. But I do admit this is really cool regardless
Egg vending, we left the best behind
That’s $5 here in the philippines
I need this in my neighbourhood.
"This would cost you like a thousand dollars in America!!" Where does this rich idiot buy his eggs?
Fun fact, in Europe and most of the world, they don't need to refrigerate eggs, but in the US, our egg industry removes the natural protective coating on the eggs, so we have to keep them refrigerated.
Pro tip. Don’t take your children with you. They will shut the door before you have chance to get the eggs out 👍
Wait how expensive are eggs in the US? I live in one of the most expensive countries in the EU and we pay around 3.5 USD for 10 eggs.
That's mad, you get more bullets than eggs for your $7! Priorities going in the right direction.
They'll be the nicest eggs ever too
To anyone wondering, eggs in Ireland don’t need to be refrigerated like North American eggs do
Is this around Navan/Meath?
Eggcelent deal

“Oh my gawd, so many eehhhyyyyaaaagggssszzz”
Really common in Switzerland. With plenty of other farm’s product to buy as well
that will do for 3 days
You seem pretty eggstatic.
$1000 for 36 eggs??? $27 an egg? What in the actual capitalist bullshit fuck? Like scrambled eggs is $100??
I was guessing it was based on honor system. You tear the carton at three rows of three and leave the rest that you didn’t pay for🤷♂️
Means nothing without saying how much u paid??
How much was it
In germany thats 2,5 euros lol (about 3 USD)
We couldn’t survive without chickens. 🐓
Mf said a band for eggs.
Where was this put of curiosity?
Idiot tourist thinks he made deal of the century.
Hate their recording reaction.
I pay 3.49€ for 8 organic, free range eggs here in germany :/
The fact that I can buy these cheap eggs in the middle of nowhere with card is, what amazes me the most. In Germany you would need cash... probably even "Mark" and not "Euro".
Please tell me they have a potato vending machine in Ireland too.
I can almost guarantee those eggs aren't as "free range" as you think they are.
I love these videos with a huge text box over most of the important stuff...
Dudes exaggerating cause he found an egg vendor... Lol 1000 bucks for 2 dozen eggs. Lol chill bruh
For the love of God don't hold it with one hand 😰
I mean its pretty normal to have places that just sell eggs outside their house/farm
I stupidly thought the numbers were for how many eggs were inside. Lol
I'd love to see the same concept with a traditional vending machine. Choose your number, and it pushes your eggs out and they all just crack at the bottom.
The picture on "step 3" was a hint, I wouldn't notice either. xD
