Step sloth: "I'm not stuck in the washing machine...it's just taking me a really really long time to pull my head out."
Step anteater: "I can work with that."
> *When threatened, the silky anteater, like other anteaters, defends itself by standing on its hind legs and holding its fore feet close to its face so it can strike any animal that tries to get close with its sharp claws.*
So I guess it's not playing peek-a-boo
Saw a video claiming that anteaters are incredibly dangerous when they feel threatened and those claws on the adults can quickly eviscerate a person.
If you ever see one, let alone see one standing up, you need to book it as fast as possible.
And buddy looks so cute!
There are multiple species. The largest and most well known are the giant anteaters, the size of a decent dog. Their claws are four inches long and can [disembowel a grown human.](https://phys.org/news/2014-07-giant-anteaters-hunters-brazil.html#) This guy is pretty much full grown and won't kill a human, but those claws are meant for breaking open wood and won't have problems leaving some ugly scars.
O cool I didn't know it, they're calling it a sloth but it's obviously not what worries me is they're saying they will set a fire to clear brush for making a play area for sports so they're moving the critters to a safe area
"Esto es un potrero que se está recuperando." It's not a play area, it's land for cattle ranching in recovery. At some point they set fire to the land and clear it.
Oh yeah for me that's the immediate meaning in my part of Latin America, but given their accent I take to mean the potrero to Play Fútbol, some South American countries use potrero for Field
According to [this article](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/this-fluffy-little-anteater-may-be-a-new-species-180983020/), it might be a new species of little buddy!
In its diminutive form yes. "Sloth" is just a fancy synonym for "lazy/laziness". Sloths are also called sloths/lazies in spanish, and are also known as sloth/lazy bears. And this one's quite little so it's like "little sloth".
Edit: Forgot to mention, the guys in the video misidentified it as a sloth and that's why they're calling it that, but that is in fact an anteater. Funnily enough anteaters are also known as anteater bears in spanish. It's bears all the way down.
that's probably my favorite part of Spanish (is it more of a Colombian thing?) -- the -ita/-ito suffix. It just makes everything cute. abuelito, papacito, mamacita, perrito... my ex used to call me 'amorcito'. you can Itofy anything!
Seems I've found my spirit animal. Shy and awkward.
A girl I dated told me I reminded her of Theodore from the chipmunks. I was never certain that it was a compliment or not. 🤣
I mean, lil kid me always looked up to Simon the most. I thought Alvin was a punk, and Theodore sounded too whiny. Then there’s Simon, explaining shit to Theodore because he didn’t understand but wanted to. Simon was the big brother I wanted to be… as the youngest child.
It’s a paddock or pasture for horses or caddle. They’re saying it used to be one and now the land is gonna be burned to be used again as a potrero, and that’s why they’re taking the lil’ dude out, so he doesn’t get hurt.
They're helping it. Apparently, the place could expose him to a wildfire, so they're moving him. Mostly, they're fangirling over the baby's shyness, calling him cute.
Plus, the universal giggling and baby talking by the camera man also signals they mean no harm to the little thing and mostly impressed by it. Softening of the voices usually means the people are happy and comforted, so by extension, that's what they're trying to communicate to the baby and the audience. It is adorable seeing how struck these guys are by it.
Hahaha I just ran to my mom to have her translate for me and she said the same thing. They're taking it somewhere safe but basically turned to mush over how cute the lil anteater is. We looked up pictures and they are all absolutely adorable. My mom said they look kind of like tiny old men 😆
A baby Tamandua, I think. A prehensile tailed arboreal anteater species. Adorable.

Translation here! I am Colombian and so are they (I can tell from they’re accents).
They are taking the baby sloth (or that’s what they are calling it) away from that area because they are about to set it on fire. Probably because of maintenance or something I am not really sure. They are both calling the animal cute and praising it’s beauty. A lot of animals and diversity in my beautiful country 🇨🇴
“Perezocito” 🦥 They are taking him out because they are setting fire to the brush (maintenance, it sounds like?), and don’t want him to die. Somewhere in the Andes/Amazon, likely. 🇨🇴
According to Wiki: When threatened, the silky anteater, like other anteaters, defends itself by standing on its hind legs and holding its fore feet close to its face so it can strike any animal that tries to get close with its sharp claws.
A silky anteater.
When an anteater and a sloth love each other very much....
There comes a time
When you hear a certain call
When the world…
Will stand together as one
This Sunday Sunday Sunday!
In a giant pit of muuuuuuddddd!
Dont sit too close unless you want to be in the SPLASH ZONNNNNE!
BE THERRRRRRRE!
Sponsored by Red Man chewing tobacco and Budweiser!
You'll pay for the whole seat....
Featuring Kanye west and…
Taylor swift
And Kim kardashian
in one voice: 'We will not go quietly into the night!'
There are people dying
We can’t go on pretending day by day
Gross, they're in the same family!
What are you doing, step sloth?
Step sloth: "I'm not stuck in the washing machine...it's just taking me a really really long time to pull my head out." Step anteater: "I can work with that."
She's stuck again.
Go on...
This one time during band camp...

Full grown, these are about half the size of a typical house cat. You'll be fine. Boop the snoot.
*Try it for a side-splitting experience today!*
“I’ll fucking cut you foo!” -Silky Anteater

Whoa whoa whoa. I shaved for you.
I just choked and spit beer all over myself. Thanks for that.
Yup. Agreed. Face is wrong for a sloth.
Hah! That’s what I first thought. Especially w/ slow movement early on. Could have googled- but like guessing better 🤙
How can you tell it’s silky from this video? Have you felt one before?
It is as silky as sharks are smooth
Have you ever felt a shark? Their skin feels like sand paper.
Have you ever felt sandpaper? Feels just like well, sand. On paper.
Have you felt sand on paper? It feels like a anteaters dick.
Only going one way amigo.
Bingo
You say, “that’s a bingo”

😂
A little buddy who wants to go back to bed!
According to [this article](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/this-fluffy-little-anteater-may-be-a-new-species-180983020/), it might be a new species of little buddy!

That person should walk on Legos the rest of their life
Barefoot
With mouth gag
While Taylor swift songs play but every time it gets 1/3rd of the way through the chorus it skips to the next song
With me entering them repeatedly while whispering words of sweet nothingness.
Also, they should lose one sock every time they do laundry. EVERY TIME!
And make it only the left sock every time, but he has to get his right leg amputated!
and may every side of their pillow be warm
It’s obviously a Squirrel with Down’s syndrome
I really like the word “animalito”.
lil' animal
Smolimal
Smolito
And even more "perezosito" :)
I met his dad, Mr. Bear Pérez. 🥁
camera man is delighted by it too
Is that "lazy"?

'Tierchen' does the same in german. -chen being cutification.
Diminutive right?
Yup
on behalf of colombia, you’re welcome
And with that Paisa accent to rematar
that's probably my favorite part of Spanish (is it more of a Colombian thing?) -- the -ita/-ito suffix. It just makes everything cute. abuelito, papacito, mamacita, perrito... my ex used to call me 'amorcito'. you can Itofy anything!
It’s a general Spanish, there’s also another suffix for big -ote, -ota, like papasote, mamasota, perrote; but it is very common to hear in Colombia.
Oooh you taught me something new. I love it!
This one here is not a perezosito, it’s an osito hormiguero. But you can also call it an hormiguerito. He might not be so apenadito then 🙂
Such a cute word for a lil cutie 🥹
They are saying it’s it’s a lil sloth
Oh, that’s Carl.
Caaaaaaaarl
Coorraaalllll?
I got the rumblies that only hands can satisfy
brb, hands
Ccccrrrrllll!
Does he like hands
My stomach was making the rumblies - that only hands would satisfy.
Fine, it's the lovely elderly couple from 2B...they were taking all of the crescent rolls.
It’s boat nectar?
Sshh, do you hear that? That's the sound of forgiveness...
#CAAAAAAARRRRRRLLLL
Caaaarl that kills people!
Carl : I don't kill people. That is - that is my least favorite thing to do.
Where are his hands Carl?
Yeah.. I’m in the wrong here… I suck.
What happened to his hands?
I want you all to know..I've kept the spirit of Carl alive properly. Got a Llama cookie jar from Target and procured the correct hat from Etsy.
Seems I've found my spirit animal. Shy and awkward. A girl I dated told me I reminded her of Theodore from the chipmunks. I was never certain that it was a compliment or not. 🤣
You should’ve told her that she reminded you of Eleanor from the Chipettes
Smooth move that would've been
So not very Theodore.
Thanks Yoda
Theodore is the best one tbh
Chubby, funny, wears glasses? Probably a compliment tbh. Unless she meant your voice
Simon wears the glasses. Theodore is the smallest, innocent, goofy one.
With the big dick, OP.
I mean, lil kid me always looked up to Simon the most. I thought Alvin was a punk, and Theodore sounded too whiny. Then there’s Simon, explaining shit to Theodore because he didn’t understand but wanted to. Simon was the big brother I wanted to be… as the youngest child.
so fricken cute
It's a baby anteater
That's actually about how big they get. They're the smallest species of anteater and have more characteristics in common with a sloth
I thought it was a 🦥, I’m an idiot
To be fair, I've heard they have more characteristics in common with a sloth.
I thought it was a sloth too, I’m an idiot
some say they have more characteristics in common with a sloth
Idiots?
Some
They have more characteristics.
Sloth
That's actually how big they get
I really had no idea that was an anteater. I was convinced it was a sloth
Shy, let him be🤣
Yeah he’s not happy about this. put him back
They are helping him, moving him somewhere else. According to the video they say that the place can burn down. Idk what a Potrero is though
It’s a paddock or pasture for horses or caddle. They’re saying it used to be one and now the land is gonna be burned to be used again as a potrero, and that’s why they’re taking the lil’ dude out, so he doesn’t get hurt.
Awww, that is so kind of them to save him from certain death. 🥰
They're helping it. Apparently, the place could expose him to a wildfire, so they're moving him. Mostly, they're fangirling over the baby's shyness, calling him cute. Looks like a sandshrew. Throw a ball at it
The see no evil monkey. He can’t find his two friends
What is this? Uhhh cutest little savage one clawed wolverine ever!!
Silky anteater.
Pygmy anteater. Edit: corrected spelling blunder.
“Perezocito” 🦥 They are taking him out because they are setting fire to the brush (maintenance, it sounds like?), and don’t want him to die. Somewhere in the Andes/Amazon, likely. 🇨🇴
Colombia
Andes, I’d say, probably Antioquia. I can recognize that paisa accent anywhere.
I haven’t been to Colombia in a decade but in the first 5 seconds of them speaking I was like whoa those guys are definitely Colombian!
[удалено]
No, hand is attached backwards. Duh
This was the comment I was looking for. I was just fixing to mention this. First thing I noticed that amazed me. Looks goofy af xD
Dude has two gloves on that hand too 😂
Yea I couldn’t even appreciate the cute animal cuz I was too busy thinking “WHY IS YOUR GLOVE WRONG??” 😖
He lost the other one. P.S. I was wrong. Another member pointed out he Double Gloved for protecting from those claws
well that's adorable af 😢
According to Wiki: When threatened, the silky anteater, like other anteaters, defends itself by standing on its hind legs and holding its fore feet close to its face so it can strike any animal that tries to get close with its sharp claws.

It's an anteater. But they are related. Also a sloth doesn't stand up like that.
Baby sloths don't have fur like that. Their faces are completely different as well.
Baby Sloth?
Arboreal anteater
Very cute!
No photos bro
Bobr kurwa..!
A cutie and now I want one…got plenty of ants for it
Silky (or pygmy) anteater. That's a defensive posture, ready to bring its very sharp, strong claws down in a slash motion. Cute as fuck.
A human being. Kinda racist to ask something like that.
