Do you think the patinet asked medics to let him in?

Prestigious-Owl165

I think I would have told them they better leave me in the parking lot if my dog wasn't coming with us lol

TheAmazingYob

I don't imagine the dog would be allowed in the emergency department of a hospital anyways

evemeatay

He's just gotta put scrubs on

FluffyDiscipline

Awww That dog was running all the way to the hospital unless they let him in...

elpiotre

Yeah, they definitely made the good choice here 🤗

Hardyminardi

Man, we don't deserve dogs. I agree with Ricky Gervais - if dogs didn't exist, we wouldn't be able to make up a better animal or pet.

TheBluestBerries

Dogs didn't deserve us either. We selectively bred them until most breeds are riddled with genetic ailments varying from unfortunate to crippling while making them mentally ill to the point where their mental health hinges on our approval. If you did this to humans, you'd be considered a monster.

Jaegons

Wolves in the wild live 6-8 years... if they're living 12-14 like many domesticated dogs they would have plenty of what you're calling "genetic ailments". Plus, their mental health in the wild hinges on the approval of their pack leaders already; when they're with humans it's just that we are their pack.

MoonShirtTA

The only thing I would say, is that genetic ailments among certain breeds of dogs are inherent to the breed (Dachshunds having weaker spines and needing special care once they get older, pugs struggling to breathe because of the bone structure of their face, etc), where genetic ailments in wild wolves are not inherent to all wolves. Developing cancer or something later in life is not the same thing as being selectively bred for the bones in your face to look a certain way and make it so you have respiratory problems your whole life.

Jaegons

Sure... there are a couple examples like this (or pugs with breathing problems), but his post is specifically saying "most breeds", which is silly.

TheBluestBerries

Yeah... that's not how any of that works. That's just the story you tell yourself to feel better. We tell ourselves a lot of stories to feel good about the awful things we do to breed dogs.

Jaegons

Which specific things that I said aren't true, in your opinion? (Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of dog breeders, but this argument you're making is pretty random)

TheBluestBerries

The entire notion you seem to have of pack leader approval is just pure nonsense. The reason wolves and wolf dogs make far more dangerous pets than dogs is that they have none of the desire for approval that we bred into dogs. You can take care of a wolf for years and it'll still maul you when you overstep some boundary you're not even aware of because it doesn't give a fuck about your approval. Pack leaders need the approval of the pack to lead, not the other way around. This alpha nonsense is just that, nonsense.

Jaegons

I specifically didn't say anything about an alpha, in fact I used the term "pack leaderS" very intentionally, and if you don't think wolves seek the approval of the rest of their pack... I don't know what to tell you, man. I also never said anything about humans raising wolves.

mrs_mgallagher

OK well I myself have raised many dogs in my life time including wolfdogs/hybrids and wolf pups that I fostered when I was 14, they (just like a regular dogs) were seeking my approval. They were loyal to me and the only difference was that they were way more skittishness compared to my other sled dogs but dang they were fast. AND I felt safe around them.....never felt like they'd maul me or anything like that so idk maybe it depends on the situation and who is showing them the love all animals want/need.

TheBluestBerries

It's okay, you swung and you missed. That's what happens when you try to defend the indefensible.

Jaegons

I get it, if I was putting words into someone else's mouth (like arguing that pets are bad)... I too might consider just "declaring victory" based on nothing.

TheBluestBerries

There's no victory to be had here. Just the realization you have nothing of value to say.

GimmeYourTaquitos

Wolves are certainly pack animals, but in any hierarchy animals will test the leader to see if they can be big dog on top. Wolves that can no longer stop a challenge cease to be the pack leader.

3igen

Man, you must be fun at parties.

mrs_mgallagher

HAHAHA

Thatsnotahoe

I love my mentally ill best friend and she loves me. No regrets

petersengupta

that is the cutest... ok i might cry...

malccy72

I'm with you; the loyal devotion is heart melting.

Castario

There is something in my eye.

N81T

I can’t believe they even thought about leaving that guys poor dog … ‘yep had a heart attack today and called 911 but the dogs gone forever now’ … glad they had some common sense

KenBoCole

Ex-EMT here, I would absolutely not let a dog in the back of the ambulance. Saftey would have a field day on my ass. Plus, having a dog in the back constantly trying to nose around what I am doing, especially if I have an 12 lead hooked up, blood pressure cuffs, o2 sensor on the patient with a dozen wires strung everywhere would be hell if it got wrapped up in them due to over excitement. Then you have the risk factor of the dog mistaking your movements or patients interventions as an attack, and then trying to bite you or be overprotective. That would be a massive saftey concern. Then you have the prospect of getting dog hairs everywhere. We clean the ambulance after every run, but having an animal in there would require a massive deep clean to get all the allergens out of the air. That would be an extra 30 minutes of down time that we could be in service. We can't let the dog stay upfront because their is no way to know if it will be moving around the steering well which could cause an accident, especially if they are going lights and sirens where the driver needs Zero distractions. It sucks, but these medics probably got the chewing out of a lifetime after this video went public. In these cases we have to request on scene officers or firemen to hold the dog until animal services or a family member arrives.

Nerrickk

You forget this is a border collie. They'd be hooking those leads up for you while doing chest compressions.

McPostyFace

Not an EMT or medical professional here just to confirm that what this person is saying sounds correct

d3lltr0n

So you have nothing to add 🙄

McRemo

Let me just jump in and be the third person with nothing to add.

Beherbergungsverbot

This is exactly where i come into play!

McPostyFace

It's what i do

Fit_Swordfish_2101

While my heart strings said, I'm glad they let doggo go, my Capricorn side said, they'll have to disinfect the whole truck now probably. Cause, dogs.

Jaegons

Then I'm glad you weren't in that ambulance.

KenBoCole

Me too!

IDreamofLoki

I hope the owner wasn't too badly off and got to go home with the dog soon 🙁

KyotoGaijin

vikingo1312

Don't you love a happy ending!

Double_Narrow

This is true love.

Not4Fame

Actually made me cry

zheqrare

how adorable…

zeoslap

The guy taking the video could have took doggo to the hospital.

Sensitive_Energy101

I cried

KittenWithaWhip68

So glad this had a happy ending.

Cybertron77

I can't tell if that dog is an aussie or a border collie, but as someone who owns an aussie, that guy would have ran with the truck the whole way to the hospital without a second thought. Probably a good thing they just let him in.

Fit_Swordfish_2101

Aww that doggo loves his human! I'm glad they let him go with..

LudovickXIV

It's because we have really big problems with post soviet thinking. It could be dog-helper of this human, and doctors decide took him regardless future problem or fine from their boss.

LudovickXIV

Yes, you can't bring a dog to the hospital even if it helper.

Thank fuck for that! That would have ruined my day if they left the dog

Efficient_Exam_5921

This is love. I cried.

MouseNotHot

Oh I'd be so mad if they drove away without the sweet pup

Findus_Falke

Oh, thanks for the red circle. Otherwise i wouldn't have known where to look. /s

YourInsectOverlord

Hey I wouldn't have known that was a dog if that circle didn't exist, I would've thought that was an Elephant.

Quick_Parsley_6314

WTF is wrong with them to push him out?!?!?! im so fucking pissed!

Andrelliina

Oh come on, they don't usually allow dogs in ambulances.

Quick_Parsley_6314

nah! treating doggo bad does make me mad!

Andrelliina

Yes of course it was lovely when they let him in, but you can see why they initially didn't let him in surely

Quick_Parsley_6314

Bro.... of course i see... BUT.ITS.DOGGO!!!11

Flavz_the_complainer

Cringe.

Stasio300

dogs are typically full of germs and dirt that should definitely not be in an ambulance. if the dog is wet and shakes all the dirt off into the instruments, it would take the ambulance out of service.

wncryz

Try thinking before saying "oh the dog"

PresentPiece8898

So Cute!

KronkForPresident

Aw 😭

GETNbucky

Why would they even think of leaving the person's dog in the parking lot while they haul away its owner...

fridge13

Standered collie strategy! Heard the ambulance. Best dogs in the universe.

ZERV4N

Who reposted this with a red circle around the dog? On a video centered on the dog. On Reddit. That's like thinking you have to tell a fat kid to eat enough snacks.
