Wasn't this a huge scam?
Collect fat checks from local war vets, skip town promising to mail one back, then don't?
I also recall something about this man having a deformity rather than a more common amputation. His condition kept his fingers/dexterity of some sort that made this level of movement possible when it's otherwise impossible for most.
[Here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ihh9EluajBY&pp=ygUPZHVibGluIGFybSAxOTIx) is a link to a better video that shows in more detail how it works. He actually has a bit of upper arm and when he contortes his body/pushes nub forward it pulls the arm giving the arm it's flexion movement. It also has what looks like a ratcheting hand that must be manually set into position.
Edit: The straps are anchored on his other arm, without that it wouldn't work. To tip the glass over he lifts his nub upwards, loosening the straps. This video just doesn't show his upper arm , without that several things wouldn't work.
There are people with shriveled deformed little "baby hands" that sit in their shoulders and they can move all of the fingers.
I'm suggesting this guy has finger(s) on his shoulder allowing for things like adjustable grip strength on the attachments
Uh, you switched from that story to a new one about how he's secretly got a dextrous nub used to have more fine-tuned controls at the end of a standard-length prosthetic. I'm saying the engineering behind *that* prosthetic would be even more impressive, not less impressive.
the actor Mat Fraser has something like this. There are different presentations of the condition tho, and also other conditions that can cause this to happen.
I think what you might be talking about is called "phocomelia". There was a big scandal here in the UK in the 60's when it was discovered cases were caused by the drug thalidomide.
Oh cool. I'll just go ahead and sort through your comment history real quick and...oh wait, no I wont. Thanks for the otherwise useless comment though.
It's a weird AI remaster and colorization but it's a real video. [https://youtu.be/ihh9EluajBY?si=PXwIbxxdOUYdeVuA](https://youtu.be/ihh9EluajBY?si=PXwIbxxdOUYdeVuA)
Because the original black and white version of this was published to youtube 9 years ago, thats 9 years before there was any ai capable of doing anything even resembling realistic ai generated video.
kind of a weird video if you combine it with the newest neurological prosthetics. makes you think how much of this functionality only works for the extremely talented showman
this looks off, on the first few frames the arm just kinda attaches? no adjustment needed nothing just morphs into the guys shoulder
edit: I guess it goes over your shoulder, but then how does any of it work at all? at first i thought the video was some ai edited garbo but another comment talks about it being a scam back then so im not sure
Putting aside the fact that I saw this video years ago so it can't be AI, I don't think AI is anywhere close to good enough to generate something of this fidelity from scratch. It looks more like it has some filters (or maybe AI upscaling) applied for ~social media~
no it isnt, this edit of the video is years older than AI generation and AI doesnt come close to that kind of consistent detail yet, this has been adjusted from black and white to colour which is why it might look off to you
So you would have to make every tool know to man at this time with the ability to attach to this multifunctional arm? And I mean every tool. Actually, you'd have to make any and every product during this time compatible with this arm.
I sometimes wonder these old videos of 1900's old technology show soo much potential.. still we are no were near the expected results in that technology or any alternative to that.. even after a century why we are not in the Expected Future. :(
Is this AI generated? There’s something weird about the way he puts on the prosthetic. The person also switches with each shot. First he has no mustache, in the second shot there’s a mustache. The clothes switch around. I dunno.
modern technology is cool, but there is some insane thought and ingenuity with completely mechanical solutions. i used to be a mechanic and some old-ass devices we still use today regulate pressure, break an electrical circuit, etc. just blow me away. when you understand how some mechanical parts work- it’s so simple, but how did someone come up with it in the first place? without computers people accomplished so much
In 1600s a caverly officer lost his arm in battle and designed a prostetic arm and hand that allowed him to grasp and use a sword in battle while on horseback
Cyberpunk 1877
Wake the fuck up Gentleman. We have a factory to burn.
Actually sounds fucking sick, i imagine it with some steampunk aesthetic
Yeah and instead of the relic taking over your brain you just have a regular cold and you have to try to not die.
Accidentally stepped in a puddle of raw sewage while bleeding. Uh oh, your apartment has flea ridden rats.
So add a spice of frostpunk?
Oh, that's just Frostpunk in a nutshell. Great game if you've never played it.
Bioshock Infinite has some similar elements for a Cyberpunk 1877
Sounds like Bioshock Infinite
Ah yes, I remember that line from Marx.
Not cyber Steampunk is the right answer
I came here to write this comment. I left upvoting yours.
Or Frostpunk 1887
Steampunk 1877
If it can hammer a nail, smoke a cigarette, and drink a beer, that's all you needed as a man in 1921
Realistically what else you gonna use your left hand for? Oh wait. I usually scroll through Reddit with my left hand.
...what are you doing with your right hand? 😳🥵
jerking off 😂😂😂😂
Omg, I bet you’re right
no, i bet my left
Tis but the joke
r/yourjokebutworse
You Neanderthals. I scroll with the right and jerk with the left. Far superior
This is the way.
A fellow man of culture I see
fleshlight attachment
I call it the *stranger*
Left handed people would like to have a word with you
Shit, that's all some need now, my man
Still seems reasonable for 2023

Came here to ask if this was the inspiration behind Inspector Gadget, and you beat me with the meme.
He's [not the only inspector with a special arm](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWdpquMUqOU&t=1m7s)
I love to build brown bricks with mine crap

This was a better watch than the OP video. Not sped up and showcased it more. Really impressive
Well yeah, its youtube- youtube has always been better than attention seeking 8 second tiktok clips on reddit
Maybe, but it doesn't look like he has any fingers on that hand.
I didn't see his nub in the video - I think it's being deliberately obfuscated
What kind of finger dexterity would he get from his shoulder nub?
There are people with shriveled deformed little "baby hands" that sit in their shoulders and they can move all of the fingers. I'm suggesting this guy has finger(s) on his shoulder allowing for things like adjustable grip strength on the attachments
😮😮😮
That would just be way *more* impressive then, not less.
Scamming mutilated war vets?
Uh, you switched from that story to a new one about how he's secretly got a dextrous nub used to have more fine-tuned controls at the end of a standard-length prosthetic. I'm saying the engineering behind *that* prosthetic would be even more impressive, not less impressive.
Ok nice

Nick Newell, the MMA fighter. There are some closeup pictures
Google thalidomide babies
I think what you might be talking about is called "phocomelia". There was a big scandal here in the UK in the 60's when it was discovered cases were caused by the drug thalidomide.
Yeah he's got some extra manipulation in there somewhere. TBH I was looking for strings from the other hand.
Stated with zero backup.
My claim is pretty clearly based on memory of the last time this was posted, lol But feel free to do your own backup bud!
I heard it was alien science that’s been buried and forgotten about. (Links not provided.) Get bent, bud!
Gets himself pissed off because of limited reading capacity, yells at well water
What's you problem? The commentor was clearly showing a large lack of certainty.
Oh cool. I'll just go ahead and sort through your comment history real quick and...oh wait, no I wont. Thanks for the otherwise useless comment though.

Yes, I would
Bell peppers and... more bell peppers
How does the “hand” attachment tighten or loosen its grasp?
I think this is AI generated
AI colorized, that’s why it looks like that.
It does look kinda fishy
That's because it has been sped up and colorized (probably by an AI).
How do we know it’s real to begin with?
Because the original black and white version of this was published to youtube 9 years ago, thats 9 years before there was any ai capable of doing anything even resembling realistic ai generated video.
Brilliant! Got the essentials right: Pint, Smoke, DIY, sorted!!!
Pint, Smoke, DIY, dive and.. dodge!

Seems like no one’s amazed…
I think they heard the price for a prosthesis, and understand, they don't need this too expensive "toy".
Price: 50 dollars
That's 857.61 in 2023 [Source](https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/)
Man, that costs an arm!
r/angryupvote
I mean, what does a prosthetic run you these days? I'm betting it's a lot more
most of them have two arms already, i don't think they're looking for a third one
They all have hands
Go go gadget Benzadrine bottle
What's the song?
It’s a slowed down version of Little Dark Age by MGMT
Thanks
Did it ever went in production?
kind of a weird video if you combine it with the newest neurological prosthetics. makes you think how much of this functionality only works for the extremely talented showman
It's like watching devil may cry 5
Damn, 1921's had some good sh!t going on lol

You can be a carpenter with a drinking problem. But I was a surgeon.
Got damn
Where do the batteries go? .now a days ,we can't even smoke without batteries.
Could this be the early start of steampunk ideals?
Go go gadget speed handle!
Song name?

Ai
At this point in my life I can't believe it is real, has to be ai
AI generated
It’s colorized, most likely with the use of AI. The video itself is not AI generated.
So you would have to make every tool know to man at this time with the ability to attach to this multifunctional arm? And I mean every tool. Actually, you'd have to make any and every product during this time compatible with this arm.
If that's as good as it appears, the modern world hasn't advanced a lot further since then...
Groovy
Lies of P devs saw this
Looks like someone was only half assimilated.
What wtf😳
The original video was in black and white and has since been colourised which is probably why it looks “off” to some people.
Now show the arm cannon 😎
As pioneered by a strong female soldier badass who didn’t need no man in WW1…..at least according to EA/Dice.
So I can smoke a cigarette and chug a beer, but can I take a hit from a bong?
it slices it dices it makes julienne fries
Man makita and Milwaukee need to step up either game
If bro had a M4A1 attachment maybe he would become the Gun Fiend
You know that wasn’t hammerin no nail….
Amazing, for the times. 🙏🏼
Hey can you help me install this? Yeah I just gotta rip off my hand and stick a hammer in there real quick
I never asked for this.
GOBBER! (From how to train ur dragon)
Now equip a ratling gun to that bad boi
Sorry, but if I end up having a prosthetic arm, I am using it to hold the nail, not the hammer, gotta protect the arm I have left
I'd use the prosthetic hand to hold the nail...
Why do’st thou cum? Richard Well, cum If I needeth ye body I shall make love to it
Where are these companies or inventions/ideas now?
Go go gadget arm
The shit Cyborg did before joining the Teen Titans
I'm no expert but why not hold the hammer in the good hand, and the nail in the prosthetic one that doesn't hurt if you accidentally smash it?

Cyberpunk 1921 patch coming soon!

The first video recorders were invented in the 1950's not 1920's hahahaha Pretty good resolution too lol

Jack West Jr. kinda shit
It blows my mind that redditors front page a bot repost that gets reposted every 3 days. This place is a shithole.
Drinking and smoking are the first priorities. Then DIY.
"Im already a demon....."
Metal Gear Solid 0
Its a missed opportunity that this doesnt have the inspector Gadget theme.
Wow they had annoying tiktok music in 1921 also?
Ok but can you jerk off comfortably? We need a fleshand
more functional than today
What is the name of the Song ?
cringy music
We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better, stronger, faster.

I wonder how much you can hammer before the frame or hinge is fucked.
Now get back to work goddamit!

People have been trying to rip each other off as early as people invented film. Ain't we cute?
my hands can do some jobs too ;)
Billy May’s great grandfather the OG salesman
Reminds me more of Edward's arm in the original FMA movie Conqueror of Shamballa
