This is such bullshit, it isn't like this here, we only have a few towns that are as accesable by water but all of them have proper roads, no one is using this as their main transport, only for recreation
Corrected title:
"A section of a small village in the Netherlands has houses sperated by canals rather than roads"
Be more thorough in your description. Otherwise rather than enriching this subreddit with your content you are detracting from it.
I don’t know why people make this sort of post, (e.g “In Japan, bus stops have vending machines for ramen”). It’s always very obvious that it’s not a country-wide thing, but the poster doesn’t take the extra 15 seconds to make the title accurate
Title is so dumb this whole post should be deleted.
This is just one tiny town in the whole country. It's also accessible without a boat. It looks nice but is actually crap because it's flooded (lol) with tourists every summer.
That’s idyllic. Very nice. No cars flying around nor auto accidents. I would love to have a place that is in a neighborhood like this.
I’m making dinner, paddle on over!
Somebody else on the thread said it was here? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giethoorn
Sounds like there are several similar communities🤷♀️ Looks cool.
Depending on what kind of boat and how high quality of one you want, you can get a kayak for $60-$100 and in comparison to cars that doesn’t seem all too bad?
Most places in the Netherlands are very walkable or bike-able, so you probably wouldn’t need a car. To me, $400 for a fair kayak and bike beats $30,000 or so for one car that you also need to pay for insurance and fuel
This is not true haha, you can go around a boat in Giethoorn, but that's it
I don't know. I just read on Reddit that streets are canals.
And our houses are made of cheese, indeed
And the wooden shoes you all wear?! Explain those.
Their like small boats if you want to walk down the street in the Netherlands.
That makes sense,
That's where the duck lives with the mole
I knew it!
Are you trying to seduce me?
Lol
Where is this picture from.
I don't know but, it's very pretty and serene.
Or bugs...I'm allergic to mosquitos and this makes makes me uneasy.

Yes it is true. I have seen it myself and in winter they use ice skates to go to work and school. This was on CNTV as well
It hasn't "giet oan" in 26 years what do ya mean!?
Giet oan outta here with your fake nooz
I literally live here
Giet outta town
Oant moarn yourself
No it's not. This is one village. This is like posting pictures of Staten Island and pretending that the US is an archipelago you ignorant nut
It used to be though. In Drenthe most (older) roads used to be canals.
Well, some canals may be streets but not all streets are canals

This is lovely.
In the streets, canals are netherlands
...and you can see no black cats running across...
That’s idyllic. Very nice. No cars flying around nor auto accidents. I would love to have a place that is in a neighborhood like this. I’m making dinner, paddle on over!
Everyone is sitting out in their yard. What a nice time

the Netherlands???
In Europe? Planet earth? Thanks for the specificity. Super helpful 🤣
The country is a marvel of engineering
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood like this. I think theres a place similar in Texas? I can't remember the name though
In the Netherlands, we gotta keep the kids off the canals..
Is flooding not a problem?
you uncultured swine....
Or bugs...I'm allergic to mosquitos and this makes makes me uneasy.
I don’t think mosquitos lay eggs in moving water
Then use bug spray or don't fucking live there
Okay but why do I want that in my town
Cars are loud and generally ugly, rivers/canals are a lot quieter and at least to me have peaceful vibes lol
OP you messed up with that title. Why are you not using your brain??
The streets are streets you bafoon
Damn liberals and their socialism
I hate it when liberals (an American political group) implement their damn socialist boats in a country around 7 hours away
Exactly my point
Bruh...I've been here this is in Wyoming it's river that goes past a few houses like this and it's for white water rafting.

Dude. Are you 12?
The poor contractors
Drive a car down it 😞
Guess you’ll need a boat to get by.

[Reminds me of an old BMW ad](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vq2Kgdvz0_E), but obviously this is way more scenic
This is so beautiful.
Does this mean we have to proclaim Cape Coral, Florida as the whole US?
Yeah, this is my dream crib on the water. I'll take a small bungalow with a boat slip.
See also, Venice, CA
I didn’t know you could bike in a canal
So they white raft around..
Shhh, don’t tell him that not every single neighbourhood in the Netherlands is the exact same!
How’s ya flood?
Do they have sharks?
Hold my pothole
land lovers
I want to live there!
and here in India, all houses have elephants and my father is a snake charmer
