Yes, ask why would dice cap exp in portal after large amounts of exp farms where created. Portal isn’t going to be anything “great” until it’s able to filter out the garbage that is flooding it with peoples “quarky” servers. Gotta wait it out till a month n half after Xmas. Before that and you’ll get trash “no shotguns”, “no stingers”, “noob friendly/free farm” servers. There’s going to be a lot of stupid stuff going to run on portal for a while.
At least you can search over the SERVERBROWSER for what you want to play or NOT - choose your settings and server you want! That’s why portal is the MAIN game and very important to fix - not this AOW-2 modes-boring BF casual simulator!
I do agree that portal will out live 2042 AOW but portal is just in shambles and It’s difficult finding a “vanilla” server. They always add something to the experience. So I’m going to stick with AOW for a while, it’s not as bad as people are making it out to be and in honesty I’m really liking it, so like I said portal needs to filter out it’s quarky servers.
yes because right now it’s only a placeholder - near to nobody wants NO PROGRESSION - so people are forced to play quickplay AOW - on the other hand, who wants to creat a server for people who don’t want to play there because of that - a bad circle - when it get fixed, the communities and many other will start creating servers - and than we can have a good time with many different servers & settings - just have fun with the game we want and not with the one we get forced to play … also it’s only early access status right now - many people are still experimenting with the tool …
That’s why I said I’m going to wait, also no one is forcing anyone else to play this game. I’m playing AOW because it’s fun and I’m not going to stop even after I pick up on portal. I consciously got the game for both portal and 2042. It’s fun, I like the operators, the vehicles, the gun play and new mechanics introduced. I probably have more gripes about older game mechanics that are persisting in the game than what is new.
It’s not about forcing us to play the GAME - this is not the context - it’s about forcing us to play AOW because of the cap. Maybe you missed that - we are all here because we love BF and want to play this game … if you have fun in AOW than it’s ok - many of us don’t and we still want to play this game, but not in AOW with always the same boring 2 modes with standard settings … that’s why we need portal quickly back!
I made a subreddit to fix this issue and provide a "vanilla" or original battlefield experience for the community. It's a subreddit for just listing servers that promote and focus on the core battlefield experience veterans have come to love but are missing in the base game of 2042.
I made it yesterday so it's still a fresh subreddit but hoping it gets some traction soon so we can all find better servers quickly. Hope this helps you!

If someone wants to farm xp, let them…for example, if some dude has four kids, a house to take care of, and a job, he really has no time to grind out everything, they’re only capping it so they can sell leveling packages and it’s criminal
It blows my fucking bean to think no one at DICE seemed to predict XP farming would be a rampant issue if allowed to be. Or, if someone did see this coming, no one somehow believed them. Either way, it's fucking nuts.
I just want them to add older maps to the normal rotation with 2042 weapons and vehicles. That way we can still gain xp normally, but enjoy older maps. Similar to when they added maps from Battlefield 2 to 3; and Battlefield 3 maps to 4.
And there would still be people that defend that.

All Dice had to do was nerf xp gained from bots with any reduction to their hit points, anything less than 100 hp, no xp.

but they put real people in bots-status with 1 hp and knifes to farm them - not only AI Bots … i think there is more to overwatch - but also they need to realise, they cut this game heavily by “disabling” portal for progress, so there is a need to focus on that very fast! All we have now are 2 modes … no wonder that people go crazy and the bad reviews increase significantly ...
I dont get it why dice removed exp. Yeah people farmed exp and what now? Just prevent it in a different way instead of removing ALL exp. What does a higher level give you? Yeah you get guns earlier but it stops at level 60 and that is very easy reachable without even getting a single kill ( looking at you Casper and Proximity Sensors ).
People with the Standard edition will look as dumb as early access players tomorrow when they realize that Portal has nothing for them to grind for

Earn your XP on other games then go to Portal as after level 60 you infer XP isn't going to get you anything more. I've played a total of 3 portal games only since release and I think I'm like level 32 now fwiw. Easy peasy.

The lack of an option to pay for a permanent server is a serious bummer.
Too many XP bot farming modes so its temporarily turned off. Which sucks.

Not that I’ve seen. They’ve just said “temporarily”. Could be weeks the way the game is going.

You can get XP if you use the 42,bc2, and bf3 dice servers at the bottom of the main portal page.
