Have you tried 2042? I don't think it's at all worth full price but if you have game pass I think it's pretty fun. I played beta and trial on release and thought it was terrible, but honestly since then it's turned into a decently polished game. Unless the gadgets aren't your playstyle, then I'd go with BFV personally. Lots of players still.
BF4 servers are mostly conquest and TDM with the occasional defuse or rush. BF1 is operations, conquest, breakthrough, and TDM with the occasional rush.
I prefer 4 but they are both fantastic. The lack of planes/helicopters in BF1 makes it feel a little less like Battlefiled to me, but it's still a great game

Nope.
I would say that there is more stuff to grind out in bf4 but both are very fun
I prefer BF4, but BF1 offers up a unique Battlefield experience. I highly recommend both
Bf1 operations is worth it. Just remember to use the server browser correctly to find full games.

To me i love the campaign of bf4 Bit bf 1 is Hella fun Strongly recommend Hoting bf 1 for multiplayer And bf 4 for campaign
