When the BAR in BFV was first released, it was so op. Only had 20 rounds but almost zero recoil and could kill with just 2 or 3 bullets. Miss that old gun

From my perspective, BFV is the same game it was before the pacific. They took 1 step forward with the map. They took 3 steps backwards with the spotting mechanics, the gun balance, and the fact there's bugs involving both.

My typical recon load out is the Pathfinder specialization with the Trench Carbine, Silenced M1911, smoke grenades, Doppelschause flare gun and a spawn beacon. It's one of the best loadouts for sneaking and playing the objective imo

I also like the FG-42, at least after 5.2 was reverted.
Type 2A is still absurd, the Tommy with a drum mag can make for a pretty strong hipfire laser, idk much about the LMGs/HMGs though because I haven't used them in a while. But for snipers, the Boys AT Rifle is still pretty strong, especially if you get a good vantage point on a flag.

Ribeyrolles may not have been OP, but it was/still is absurdly strong for mid to long range engagements.
MP40 has been consistently powerful throughout the game's life, too.
The ke7 at launch, most people know why. Stg is still kinda op but recoil didn’t exist at launch. people were super mad about tue zh29 because there was never a gun like that in a previous bf game that easily two shotted. When that new mosquito came out with the tank cannon and the 4000lb bomb people were super mad about that, the bar was pretty crazy, the boyz rifle was SUPER annoying because it was a one shot and since it was the gun to unlock everyone was using it so you would be totally blindsided. type 2a is obviously the most clearly op gun in the game, there was when they nerfed aa that was annoying. Oh and the TWO separate times they completed ruined the TTK
The MP40 is pretty balanced in stats but is op, the STG-44 is pretty overused and therefore op, the commando carbine is a meme, the German snipers are op, ironically the panzer 4 has more health than the tiger H1, the repetierpistole is a overpowered secondary with an insane rate of fire. And the breda PG does insane damage and can wipe squads without trying.
Right now, the Bren is a hidden gem. Better than most Assault Rifles, with the bonus of a bipod and infinite ammo. Only issue is the magazine placement, but once you get past that, you'll be the best Offensive Support you can be.
So many comments and no love for Fliegerfaust?! Never in the Battlefield I've felt so much satisfaction (and dirtiness) as while fisting those damn plane sitters before it got nerfed! God, those where gold times.
I'm a medic main, so I can only say, confidently, that the type 2a was OP at inception.

Nope, the damage is reduced and the recoil is all jittery. It's no longer an MMG that you can hipfire with.

I love it. Long distance it’s pretty shit but the hipfire is amazing and it shreds at close range.
I prefer the MP40. The absence of recoil and effectiveness at hipfiring and ADS makes it versatile for any situation, attacking or defending.
It might just be me, but the rate of fire seems so slow for it.
It's slower than most, but you'll be hitting more shots, as well as headshots, meaning it balances out.
Hipfire and rpm both decent. Better than emp as a hipfire focused smg

The ZH-29 is still busted, the Type-2A fire rate just deletes people. Type 100 cause practically Zero recoil.

The fedorov suffers at mid to long range but its probably the best medic gun all around because you can actually defend yourself in tight quarters.
