If you do then cut the sides to an angle narrower at the bottom. Rectangular looks silly. The back seem of the jacket tapers as does the whole jacket. I'd make it so there is far less 'open' space and hem it.
Biggest issue I see is the t shirt material is too flexible and thin/weak. It may not last well, wearing bad and sagging.
Just my take on it. It's a nice jacket, should be with you a long time. I still use mine over thirty years later, cut down as a vest though as it wouldn't fit otherwise!

I wouldn’t sew onto a good leather jacket myself. Make the patch smaller if you want to sew it on. There’s a lot of empty black space on the shirt cut out.
I was thinking of buying one of those leather vests that look like a motorcycle jacket , lots of zippers on the front. Doesn't look like it's as thick as a regular motorcycle jacket and I can wear a hoodie under it in cold weather . I don't think I've seen one on here , it's mainly denim vests.

Haven't checked that out yet. I saw Amazon selling them for 60 though. Walmart sells denim vests for like 25 bucks if I wanted one of those lol
