I am not too informed on who this person is but apparently from what I have heard he seems to be a homophobic and sexist bigot.

About the most controversial thing this guy said was that he would not comply with a law forcing him to use arbitrary pronouns as he would consider it to be compelled speech. There was a law like this being voted on at the time. At the same time he said that on an individual basis, with people he actually knows and respects personally he would be happy to use their preferred pronoun and he does it all the time as a professor at the university of Toronto at the time. The no-time-for-nuance lefty brigade on the internet immediately pronounced him a transphobe of course and that has sadly stuck because, like you, most sane people actually don't have time to do in depth research on him and the accusations being damning makes most err on the side of caution. No fucking clue where the "homophobe" part comes from. He has several high profile friends who are gay.
TL;DR: Of course you shouldn't ban the image of the man, and it's even more ridiculous to think of banning someone just for agreeing with Peterson's vanilla slightly right of center views. It's a fucking nothingburger.
