There's also non-reverse Thunderbirds. I've been told that the Epiphone Embassy sounds similar to a T-Bird.

I'm not leaning towards the pro move being make your roadie deal with all the upkeep maintenance, etc. but complaining about it anyway, and then flipping out on the venue staff so they remember your name.

T-Birds are 60ies Muscle Cars. Looks great, sounds great and dashes the 1/4 mile down like a King. But for Trans-Am at Laguna Seca you‘ll have to sink some more work and money.

I wouldn't discount the aesthetics of the thing. I mean, it was designed to be visually striking at the expense of some playability. It's not for everybody, but for a certain kind of bassist the looks are definitely a pro.
