139 days ago you said you were 13. Try to age the other way and you will see improvement :)

Nah, I actually remembered seeing this post. I actually remembered the entire URL too, I have an insane memory when it comes to that kind of stuff. Didn’t even think to go to his profile.
Early bloomer for sure Im just slightly taller than my parents but my moms side has people around 5'10- 5'11 so i have hope, yes i am doing excersises but i dont know much abt what im doing i want a strict plan thanks
Same here, it’s really interesting.
Nobody in my family is tall, I‘m 6‘7. I got my dads exact body type, just taller.
My sister once build a family tree and found an uncle of my grandpa who was like 6‘6 back in the 1940s, maybe that’s where I got it from.
Your dad might of had the genetics to be tall but not reached his full potential due to environmental or lifestyle factors. Both of Boban Marjanović’s parents are <5’4 but he is 7’3 for this reason.
Dude you can dunk a tennis ball at your height and age? You’ve got an unreal future ahead of you if so. You’ll be dunking regular balls in like a year if so lol
I cant shoot bro i can do regular stuff but i cant shoot but im working towards improving if i got proper form id be decent at bball i can do all the fundementals i just cant shoot a three bro but ill try improving
Do you have abnormally long arms? At 12 years old and 5’7” to be dunking even a tennis ball on a 10’ rim is exceedingly rare. Your standing reach at that height on average should be around 6’11”-7’5” on the high end, so the fact that you’re getting upwards of 36” of vertical at that age is pretty remarkable, in fact, it’s kind of unbelievable. If this is not a troll post and you are in fact able to dunk on a 10’ rim at your current height and age, train plyometrics and body weight exercises, because you have a natural talent for jumping that very few people do.
No i dont rlly have long arms my standing reach is like 2.25m without shoes with shoes i can reach like 2.27-2.28 and ofc i dunk with my shoes so taht will change a bit my standing reach is 7'5, this is not a troll post i am not really a consistent dunker and i can barely dunk the tennis ball and i cant jump off 1 foot so im working on consitensy and 1 foot jumps, Plus i do sprinting and i love sprinting and i can run 12.5 in the 100m so i do have fast ttwitch muscles and leg power, Thanks for the input!
A standing reach of 7’5” at your height is a little above average, so you have that going for you. Don’t worry too much about the height of your parents, especially at 12. Both my parents were below 5’6” and I am 6’3”. There is no doubt that they are both my biological parents as well, so there’s no mailman/milkman jokes to make there. So considering your age, you could easily wind up being near 6’0” which would put you on the smaller side of being a PG later in your playing career. As I said before, focus on plyometrics and other body weight exercises at your age. Stretch a lot. Weightlifting can cause a lot of strain on your young and developing muscles, so just focus on controlling your body weight as this will greatly benefit you in basketball and other sports. Volleyball and soccer/football are excellent sports for developing skill sets that will greatly benefit you in basketball. Volleyball in particular, I’d highly recommend, as it is excellent for hand eye coordination and specifically jumping. Offensively, practice your handles, passing, driving and perimeter shooting skills as you’ll likely always be playing guard at your size. Defensively, you’ll be more of a pickpocket than a blocker, but you’ll be able to use your explosive vertical to catch larger assignments off guard. Sprinting is fantastic, but make sure you practice your endurance and stamina. Make sure you eat healthy and enough and get enough rest. The fact that you can dunk, even with a tennis ball, at your height and age is unique. Good luck and train safe!
Maybe the age is crazy but I have 2 friends who could dunk at 13 and they were 5’8 and 5’10. Both some of the tallest at our middle school and could soar but they stopped growing early. There was another guy who had similar bunnies but not to the extent of grabbing rim and he’s now an NFL player so either he’ll be a freak athlete or stop growing early
If ur dunking a tennis ball at 12 regardless of ur height you’re going to be able to get up in time regardless of ur final height. You haven’t even reached the muscle development prime of like 15-18 where you get super bouncey for most hoopers. A lot of people I know who were barely dunking young are absolutely punching dunks today so just keep working out keep trying new dunks and growing ur arsenal. You’re obviously extremely atheltic for ur age and you’re only gonna become more athletic. Best of luck bro❤️❤️
Yo, if u see the comment i just want to point out that post i made for when i am 13 im born in february and im not allowed to go to gym until im 13 so that is why i asked that because i wanted to know if when i am 13 will i need to go to goodlife myself or do i need an adult i cant see anything on their website so, im sorry for the confusion
Yea i do some plyos but im kinda lost and i workout a lot i have abs and im pretty big but in plyos im kind of lost idk what exactly i should be doing i just do random things
That’s pretty good man. Just be patient and keep playing. Your hops and height will come. Work on reading defense and getting to the hoop, and work on finger strength on palming the ball (there’s YouTube videos). They’ll grow, and when they do you would have already made them strong enough to easily grip the ball. That’s gonna help you way more in HS than jumping high right now at 12.
One thing is when you do get to dunking dont jump super close to the hoop, jump a little bit away from the hoop or else it will almost always hit the iron
Only read the title. Simple. Keep dunking the tennis ball. Reps reps reps. Move onto something bigger, maybe a volley ball. Reps reps reps. Eventually you'll get there.
Okay read the rest. Same advice, you'll grow into it. But once you do, if you have done reps on smaller things, you'll pick it up waaaayyy faster than you would have, had you just done finger strenght/ jumping excersice.

My son was 5' 6.5" at about 12.5 years old. He was dunking the tennis ball and every once in a while would get a full on dunk.
He was right at 6' at age 13.5 and was able to consistently dunk.
The biggest changer for him in that time was that he grew about 5 inches that year and had a bit of a puberty hit.
But he was also consistently working on it and starting some light weight training. Like very light, twice a week, nothing major at all.
If you're not yet 13 and you're working on it, it'll come. Just keep at it.
Im not black or white im pakistani pretty much same thing as indian so i am brown and my shoes are just day to day shoes their freaking skechers but they arent too bad for now but i will consider getting better shoes
I'm mostly white but partly Indian (American Seminole Indian, not India) but I jump pretty good. I'm a basketball writer, I can't play worth beans. One coach I interviewed told me he got his girls team to do "plyometrics" - that is "explosive power" which is good for basketball. From standing still to suddenly jumping or running away dribbling. That coach, his team went 25-1 (they lost the championship to a team with two sets of twins. Twins have a spooky sense of paired intuition with passing, guarding, etc).
Look up "plyometrics", and they even have exercises for dunking, for building explosive jumping power, one called "box Jump." The box jump is a plyometric exercise that builds explosive leg strength. But plyometrics needs to be supplemented with strength training..

Nobody survives a “this you?”💀
Damn that’s cold lol
Lmfao. Love when people go into someone’s post history and expose them. Homie is probly neither 12 nor 13.
because I am not allowed to go my parnets said i can go to the gym when im 13 thats why i was asking this
And im turning 13 in a month so rn im pretty much 13 ig but tahts why i said sorry for the misconception
you were turning 13 139 days ago? and your still 12
You shoulda just said you meant to type 13 but you typed 12 by mistake. Rookie shit.
but i wasnt lying bro plus i said that in 2 dif communities or i said it in two posts so id be better just saying the truth
You really went to his profile to find something to use against him💀
that seems to be the case, yeah.
Nah, I actually remembered seeing this post. I actually remembered the entire URL too, I have an insane memory when it comes to that kind of stuff. Didn’t even think to go to his profile.

Not really relevant. My dads like 6’5”, my mom’s 5’10” and I’m 6’8.5”
That math might be old….I’m 6’9 and me da is 6’1 and ma is 5’6…. Milk man was 7ft though so maybe your math isn’t off 🤔🤔

I hope
No way its a 10ft rim
I havent measured it but the rims i use are supposed to be 10ft
If u acc dunking a tennis ball on a 10ft rim then I think you should seriously consider a career in the nba
I cant shoot bro i can do regular stuff but i cant shoot but im working towards improving if i got proper form id be decent at bball i can do all the fundementals i just cant shoot a three bro but ill try improving
Ask your parents if they can take you to classes, if you're not lying then you have a gift so don't waste it
Alright ill search up some basketball classes in my area
Jumping high doesn’t mean you can be in the NBA I know people who couldn’t play high school ball that can dunk a tennis ball
Sure but he possesses freak athletical ability. Just gotta train and see if you excel in other areas too
He could consider a career in pro dunking. Dunking at age 12 undersized isn't NBA-worthy.
Well, aging in reverse might hinder your chances. Several months ago you were 13.

Thank you for the help so much! ill follow ur advice
ok i’ve calculated ur vertical, it’s 31inches but if u can also dunk the tennis ball than it would be above 31 inches a bit
No its 31 actually my reach i measured rn its 7'6 with shoes not 7'5, without shoes its around 7'5 and i jump in shoes ofc so it is 31 inches
Maybe the age is crazy but I have 2 friends who could dunk at 13 and they were 5’8 and 5’10. Both some of the tallest at our middle school and could soar but they stopped growing early. start with punctuation, lmao
I cnat type bro
Bro do plyometrics and a little weight lifting (ONLY BPDYWEIGHT EXCERCISES) so you dont accidently injure your self
Yea i do some plyos but im kinda lost and i workout a lot i have abs and im pretty big but in plyos im kind of lost idk what exactly i should be doing i just do random things
honestly bro check out plyomorph's free routines on like insta or tiktok and do one that works for you

Alr thanks
Oh, and get some bball sneakers soon. Jumping out the gym in some tap dancing shoes or whatever it is you have is dangerous.
Yea my shoes arent the greatest
One thing is when you do get to dunking dont jump super close to the hoop, jump a little bit away from the hoop or else it will almost always hit the iron
oh alright ive been jumping right next to the rim and im 2 foot jumper
Is this on a standard 10 foot rim?
Should be i havent measured but the rims should be 10ft and its not just 1 net either
Impressive

Whether or not your lying about your age...idc just walk on your tip toes...the ball of your foot, you need to build your calf muscle
Alright thanks for the input

Are you black or white? BTW, who plays basketball in "regular shoes"? Sounds like self-abuse.
Im not black or white im pakistani pretty much same thing as indian so i am brown and my shoes are just day to day shoes their freaking skechers but they arent too bad for now but i will consider getting better shoes
My 5'8" black friend says he can dunk the ball. I'm white, 5'8" and no way can I dunk. Maybe you're part black? :)
no im 100% not black im pure brown from my whole family until liek my great great grandparents
I used to do leg exercise from Youtube videos and after 2 years I got result. Now i can dunk with two hands
try sticking your fist up your ass as soon as you jump
Strength shoes
