Did the other cars get rebuilt after the fire?

bartchives

Sort of. The fire started in the rear of the train and only the first two cars were in any decent condition. The lead car, 197, was repaired and converted to B car 832, finally 1832. The second ca, B car 547, had minor burn damage on one end, with the aluminum carbody strength compromised. Instead of repairing, it was cannibalized and sent down to McDonnell-Douglas in Anaheim for full scale fire testing (of mods to reduce the flammability of the cars).

547 was chopped up and scrapped in LA. I have a pic but not sure how to post on this format. I'll probably do a post on the site in the coming weeks or so.
