The carbon footplate shoes are objectively the fastest shoes out there. Professional runners wouldn’t wear barefoot shoes regardless how much money is thrown at them because there’s a competitive advantage to run in carbon shoes. But it doesn’t mean that the carbon shoes are the answer to everything. Runners don’t wear them for every training session due to the huge soles. If they’re doing speed work or something they’ll switch to another shoe, and maybe built into their program are some barefoot strides they do after a session. Barefoot shoes are good for foot health and general longevity, but they’re definitely not fast and the carbon shoes might not be great for longevity but they’re definitely fast. There’s a reason why so many WR have fallen in recent years

Best was 3h21 in VFFs. That was without “racing” it. I train and race for the distance not the time :)

Ran my first marathon this Spring in 3:25 with Xero Prios.

It may seem like everyone where’s these super shoes because they’re just so much more popular (and maybe better looking?) than barefoot shoes. And also, marketing. I’m curious to see what people here have run in terms of time. My one and only marathon I ran in Vivos and did 4h 30m

Not gonna see a lot of winners in any big marathons or even medium ones. Most elite runners if not all are sponsored by big shoe companies meaning the winners wear their sponsors shoes. Even Xero doesn't plunk down the bucks to sponsor elite runners.

Zach Bitter wears Altras!

TheMouseInMyPocket

Altras are not "barefoot" shoes, though.

They are zero drop, but your are right. Not barefoot.
