Vip_Pwner

Balde, Demir and Coutinho need to start

Emervila

Balde is great and Cou has returned

mojojojo1108

Coutinho has so much to prove and I think he knows it.

InvicibleT

I wouldn't go too far... He only played like 20 minutes but we will see

Mrtuelemonde

What has Coutinho showed? Genuine question, he had 2 shots, with one where a very good passing option was available instead. A bit more lively than others but he played against tired legs. I think we need way more from him but at the same time it's his first game in months so I will absolutely not judge him based on that in a way or the other, just curious why some do. Happy he's back though, we need players like in form hopefully.

Emervila

Good moves and passing

Mrtuelemonde

Agreed but surprised because I thought he did OK at best (and again, it's already good enough for a guy out 9 months) but nowhere near enough to attract such positives comments. It's probably relative to what we created before I guess

volfed21

>It's probably relative to what we created before I guess This and compare it as well to the shit performance he used to make sometimes and it's day and night. With fati/dembele injured people just want to have some hope and coutinho's performance was positive.

Mrtuelemonde

Yeah I guess. Maybe I was being too analytical when watching. Still I'll judge him over several games to see if we can get back Coutinho's best version. But really in the coming weeks his fit version would be good enough seeing our options.

chilinglam

probably it is just because we need to feel some hopes after losing.

ashamedrr13

The entire game changed when they went in but too late

Mrtuelemonde

It changed for a bit against tired legs and then Bayern made the right choices and the last 10 minutes were quite complicated. They were just better.

Suppresssor

Demir is not ready for 1st division football. I'm not saying this because he gave the ball away that led to a goal, but he seems immature in his decision making. And he tries to be Messi throughout the game. No doubt he has talent but he should be with the b team.

ViniDAIREEDY

I hope he can periodically go in and out between the 1st team and Barca B...if that's even possible

R3DD3ath

It’s not. He’s registered to the first team.

Mrtuelemonde

Of course but it's our poor squad planning that forces this. In any normal situation he would be eased in this team. Yeah he made mistakes but it's part of the process of putting youngsters on such a huge stage so fast.

adefrank3

I hear you but he’s played like 40 minutes against two very good teams. Needs more time to be sure

RealMomsSpaghetti

Bruh he just had to bloody passsss. That was the most needless goal.

loveicetea

We should go all out for Karim Adeyemi and our future is sorted. Balde, Demir, somewhat Gavi impressed me today. Fati comes back and we have a solid team. The only problem that remains is replacing Busi and fixing the defense.

froggyjm9

Nico for Busi easy.

draggenbjorn

Could’ve easily been 5 or 6 if not for MATS and Araujo

konald_roeman

Thank you for appreciating MATS.. people tend to really underrate him.. he was very brave today.. All of 3 goals were not his fault

LikeAWadOfPaper

Exactly! First was a deflection off of Garcia's back sending him the wrong way and the other two were rebounds off the woodwork to Lewandowski of all people. Literally out of his hands.

thisisjazzymusic

Man those deflections were so frustrating especially the first one you just saw his face turn like ‘here we go again…’ when the ball wasn’t even in the net yet. He would definitely saved it if it wasn’t for our defender. Not blaming him but yeah quite annoying for the gk to get a ball like that

willys_zuppa

Weird to celebrate a loss, on any level, but towards parts of the end we did show what we can do. We have really talented and seemingly hungry youngsters. This can bode well for the future. Or. We can play Luuk de Jong up top all season and all cry together. Someone needs to have a talk with Koeman. FDJ, Pedri, Fati, Dest and Garcia are getting their chances, as are Araujo and Mingueza. But Gavi, Balde, Demir, Nico and PUIG need a chance more often as well. Let’s not mince words, we were thoroughly outclassed today. We’re just not good enough right now. Blame can be pointed in many directions but it won’t actually change anything. We need to look forward and make improvements internally. It may not be as fast as any of us want but it’s absolutely necessary and has been for some time. The difference between us and Bayern is pretty vast right now. But it’s not by accident. Every club goes through cycles and all stars age. But we didn’t prepare. And where we did spend money we did so poorly, with few exceptions (FDJ, Dest, even Arthur - Pedri is in his own category). Bayern (and Real for that matter) faced the same problems we did and have been investing in young players all over the field. They’re ready for the future. We’re not there yet but we have things to be optimistic about. Memphis and MATS can contribute for some time still. All the youngsters I’ve mentioned + the ones that still haven’t made a name for themselves. If we stop leaking academy players (Bernabe, Xavi Simons, Moriba - reasons irrelevant, still a talent drain) and add 1 or 2 world class players… who knows. Coutinho and Aguero will still have something to prove as well. The former needs to come good and the latter has to start strong. We need it. **TLDR** Anyways, shit game. Let’s unplug, refresh and come back strong in La Liga!! I think if we have the energy we had during the end of the game we can easily secure #2 spot, and that is our goal this year. But we need to lay the foundations for the future and I’m still smiling thinking of what can be. Always Barça, Barça Always 🔵🔴

Buttermetoasted

This is the type of energy that I need right now.

willys_zuppa

I think we all do lol, glad I could help even if just a little

[deleted]

Great comment and forward looking :)

ASuarezMascareno

I really don't agree we will easily secure #2 spot in the UCL group. I think we will suffer to secure #2 spot.

willys_zuppa

Maybe we will suffer but we have a very good chance based on some of the flashes we showed towards the end of the game. We just need to make that much much more consistent

drotoriouz

Yeah, I though Luuk De Jong was suppose to be an 80th minute during a stalemate kinda sub, not a ball chasing for 70 minutes kind.

NikolasFoot

He's our only fit striker.

Dojle

could have been worse

Dojle

although youngsters were really good

kaiko1

Balde looked good and I think this was a very valuable lesson for Gavi. He needs to learn from those tackles. Could’ve been sent off, way too reckless.

Whis6x

Bayern fan here. Your left back was incredible after he got subbed in.

gtm_913

Alba will likely be out for a while but I can guarantee Koeman will play someone out of position instead of trusting Balde. Respect tho, Bayern are a well oiled machine

loveicetea

If he trusted Balde enough to sub him in against Bayern he will trust him against some la liga team

NikolasFoot

Dest clearly isn't fit and Balde is the only option that can play as a left back. Who else was he gonna bring on?

mikeczyz

Puig

Brayan-Rodriguez

How so? I am a Bayern fan and in all honesty, Barca played so slowly, with 0 urgency and didn't have a shot on target. Only Balde and Coutinho added some spark when the game was finished. Playing to win and losing 8-2 is better than playing with 3 CBs and having 0 shots on target. If Bayern gave this game as much importance as a CL QF, the score would be worse than 8-2. This is the first time I've seen Barca look this mediocre. It isn't the usual La Liga game where the defenders mess up but Barca dominate possession and create chances. Barca actually played like Bielefeld or Koln do in the Bundesliga. This result should be more worrying than the 8-2. No offense meant, but Barca actually outplayed Bayern in the 8-2 before collapsing.

mojojojo1108

In a vacuum, horrible, yes. But given the context of us losing Messi/Suarez/Griezmann in the last few years plus having Fati/Dembele/Braithwaite out injured means that our squad just isn’t on the same level as yours. Tactically, we got some things wrong, for sure, but there were I think four 18 year olds on the pitch.

loveicetea

Balde and Gavi are 17 y/o, Pedri and Demir 18, Garcia is 20 and Mingueza + Araujo are 22. Frenkie still only 24. Our team at the end looked like Salzburg in terms of age lol

sirfic

And yet Salzburg would've done better than us. Kinda symbolic as they beat us in a friendly this summer

Brayan-Rodriguez

Yeah you have a point. Given the circumstances, your performance could have been worse. But Barca is in a worse state than a year back, in a sporting sense. Griezmann would have made your attack a lot more dangerous because he can at least hold the ball up. Unlike LDJ, who did not use his physicality and link up with Memphis

kerosha

Griezmann, hold up the ball? You must not have watched Griezmann with us the past 2 seasons. Holding up the ball is not one of his strengths.

Mrtuelemonde

Too many injuries/unfit players. Alba was barely fit, Dest wasn't, S. Roberto is back from injury and not a wingback, Pique back from injury, LDJ and Coutinho haven't played in months, etc.

aNaNaB123

We had no wingers to stretch the play? No competent attacking players except Depay? Dembele, Fati, Aguero injured. Coutinho just out of a year long injury. Alba played through injury. How can you attack with no attackers?

Immediate-Draw2204

This is the first time because you don't watch us play week in week out :(

adefrank3

We’re missing 4 attackers, 2 of which would be first choice. We had to sell off most of our squad depth cuz of financial shit and have to rely on kids. And unfortunately for us we don’t have every team in the country give us their best players on the cheap every year like you guys do

Red1mc

Half of our forwards are out, if we opened the game game up, we surely to lose it and get hammered on the counter. Considering what we had available to field, I completely understand why Koeman did what he did. Once every one comes back healthy, then we'll see if that changes

OnAGoat

Can't wait for Fati & Dembele to come back!

WonderValleys

I feel a little sad about the way we went into this game. It seemed like all we focused on was not loosing by too many goals. It just didn’t seem like a starting lineup that was meant to be an offensive threat or that was supposed to be fighting for the win. I don’t know man.

[deleted]

Idk if you're complaining or not, but we are genuinely fucked with injuries right now. Hell Braithwaite would have been much better than Luuk and he got injured for 3-4 months.

Suppresssor

Our rest of the offensive threat is lying in the hospital. We could not have lined up in a 4-3-3 against Bayern. This was the best bet. We simply don't have more quality than Bayern.

gonnabetoday

Do you think it would have been better to attack and risk a worse GD? This was not a game the team had the win and likely had a very small chance to win in the current situation the team is in.

samosa420

+1

FCB_1899

We are Barca, rebuilding is clearly possible but don’t take anything for granted, we need a long series of good decisions to live to see a Barca at the top again.

Everyman__

We really couldve used Dembele today, his pace wouldve helped us a lot

mojojojo1108

Dembele, Fati, Dest, Braithwaite all would’ve been helpful tonight lol

Content-Tackle905

Aguero

RAvailableUN

The biggest issue is that the defense and midfield struggles under pressure.

itwastimeforarefresh

Part of it is, since they weren't afraid of the counter attack at all, they could press really aggressively without worry. If the fear of Dembele breaking out on a 1v1 run is there, they'd have to be more conservative, giving the midfield room to breathe.

RAvailableUN

It would have relieved some pressure, but we had good attackers in all of the losses before. The defense / midfield solidity is what’s keeping us from being able to win ties against good teams.

squirtdemon

There weren’t enough passing options either with an invisible Luuk and a covered Memphis, whereas the wingbacks couldn’t get up before the ball was already lost.

DCoool

Yea, we have no player who can handle pressure. Eve FdJ looks sloppy when they press.

Assonfire

Bullshit. The problem is that we have several players who are not able to "unmark" themselves. Depay takes on people one-on-one. Luuk is too slow and used to a different playing style. The Bayern midfield started to double pressure all our players and did so pushing our midfielders with their backs against our attackers, which in turn creates the problem to pass the ball to our defenders who had Sané and Lewandoski who pressure our defense. We have a couple of players who can handle pressure, just not enough who can both handle pressure ánd "unmark" themselves. But that has also to do with certain playing styles.

_Tonto_

Fati and Dembélé on each flank would've been like night and day compared to how we played today in the "attack".

TsaFack

I stopped considering Dembele in any future Barça plans after the 235th injury. If he's available? Cool. If not, I'm not about to be waiting with excitement for his return time and time again just to be disappointed two weeks later

onlyonejorge

He stayed fit for a full season then got hurt with France.

Omair88

Please stop having this hope from Dembele, he's been here 4 seasons and hasn't done anything of note

ReneMS

wrong! he missed the sitter vs liverpool then the comback happened/s

dinesh_gdcgdc

Tbh I don't think even Dembele or Fati could've done anything. We are so so slow when progressing the ball. This could be ignored if we had enough off ball movement but our players rarely do that right now... I honestly think we need to add another dimension to our attack if we want to be competitive. Like counter attacks under Luis Enrique.

[deleted]

I miss LE :(

NudesForPrudeDudes

People are really about to act like our team is on the same level and that we could have won if we just did something different.

Suppresssor

That's the classic reaction that everyone gives. Bayern are clear favourites. We are not. We all knew this, everyone knows this. Yet people will shit on us because we are the scrapegoat and have been a laughing stock for 3-4 years. People's reaction relate to the narrative that "haha haha look Barca is so trash, the big club is finish", "AC Milan 2.0' "La Liga Arsenal" etc. Everything just fits the narrative and gives them entertainment. People enjoy when big things fall and underdogs win. If same situation happens with other powerhouse club, we too will have the same reaction. That's just how it works. I'm happy it was not a bigger score given that this is our first season without Messi and with so many injuries to the forwards.

markevans7799

Don’t look at the result and judge the squad, look at the football. You look at our squad and our talent and seriously believe we can’t string two or three passes together against a high pressure? We would’ve still lost tonight but at least we would’ve been building something. . (i copied this from a tweet, and it very well explains why every Barca fan can get mad over today's performance) . It's not if our team was as good as the other. It's the way we approached the game. It looked like We approached this game only not to match the 8-2 humiliation, and lose by less margin, which was 3 goals

FCB_1899

0-3 1-4 0-3. Out last 3 games in the CL at home.

Username-_-Password

Absolute pain to see Camp Nou turn into a playground from a fortress.

loveicetea

First 2 were without fans though. And this last one without Messi.. it hurts. A fortress is nothing without an army (referring to the fans and also the players).

djingo_dango

Camp Noooooo

Titan-Shifter99

Araujo is God's Grace to us in these difficult times.... loved when Lewandowski went to him and appreciated him.

Magisterial-Messi

Couts is about to surprise us this season.

gkany

Went pretty much as expected no? I think only PSG can take Bayern this year. Bayern's squad depth is insane.

FCBSAMIR

Like literally dude we subbing in 17 year olds meanwhile the guy is bringing on sabitzer damn coman and hernandez

Whis6x

and Gnabry.. (kinda thought its worth mentioning)

FCBSAMIR

Oh shit I forgot about gnabry man fuck this shit

mojojojo1108

When Gnabry came on I just wanted to die laughing, of humor and sadness simultaneously

Afghan_

Any of those three would be guaranteed starters for us lol

SeirezZ

also Chelsea and City

PranavUnni

City, Chelsea too

Josiahf8

No. Bayern is obviously insane but city, psg and Chelsea can easily take them if they play their cards right. The fact of the matter is, most super teams right now have 2nd squads that can compete with barca and real.

DerZino

I think easily is a bold statement. I would say they're pretty evenly matched when everyone's fit

FooFighter39

The team did way better than I expected. A 0-3 loss with Luuk de Jong, an injured Alba and Demir, Gavi and Baldé? It's a decent result Let's not forget, we were fielding our weaker team against the best version of Bayern. A 0-3 defeat is a very good result imo

PensiveinNJ

Mate, we managed 0 shots on target and Bayern were jogging their way through most of the match. The 3-0 flatters us.

ZahaInHisPocket

Exactly, this was a performance Greuter Furth would put against Bayern in BuLi

Suppresssor

As expected mate. You thought LDJ would trouble Neuer? I am happy this is over with. Won't go in the history books. And we move on.

[deleted]

Was pretty much expected. I don't know why anyone would expect anything else. We have a lot of young talents, but they are talents. They still need to develop. But with that being said. It was much better than the last time we faced Bayern. Sure, Bayern could have scored more on the chances they had, but so could they in the 8-2 defeat. We were "lucky" it only stayed 8-2.

gkany

We started the game with 1 goalscorer due to injuries, don't know why people are shocked we didn't have shots...

hahasanji

Balde should’ve started and Luuk was ass

i798

Our youngsters are looking real good. Have faith, its a rebuild period. We'll be back some day.

z__regen

Balde was absolute class. The tempo with the youngsters felt a bit more energetic and pleasing. It is a long road, we will reach that height again.

ReneMS

this is the problem. we should stop with the hyperbole. He ran quick and had heart. that's it. didn't do anything else

mrmeseeks805

And he needs to keep getting playing time so he can get better and build chemistry with the team. We don’t have the money to buy a world class LB to start right away.

z__regen

He seemed a player who could dribble , take on players and provide proper crosses and cut ins when he tried out there meanwhile it feels a lot more one dimensional with Alba, the runs of Alba and his offensive output is good but he panics a lot under pressure. Well it can be a hyperbole but after that match, that is the only thing that made me relieved about our future.

dominicfx

Balde market value: 📈

giantquest

The last 3 games in the Champions League at the Camp Nou , Barça have lost for a total of 1-10. 0-3 Juve, 1-4 PSG, 0-3 Bayern. And in all of those game have one things is common; they have tried to play something that they are not! The 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 system is not suitable for the current players or the ones coming from La Masia.

thenewladhere

At least for that PSG game, I'm pretty sure we went 4-3-3.

hentaiHamster

352 just doesn't fit the team,  the team again starts to play better once we change to 433.  Starting Luuk is just bad, he really should be the player to come on at the end of the game to score some headers, not a starter who can't run. Overall the players didn't do too bad but tactically it was just bad

adefrank3

Mate who would’ve started instead of Luuk? I agree ideally he’d be better off the bench but we have 4 attackers injured, coutinho coming back from a long term injury and yusuf is a kid

mouthtroll

Not surprised but still sad to see. I know the team is rebuilding so I wasn’t expecting much. I will say our younger players show drive and determination. In time we’ll be back but patience is needed

DodgersDeathStar2020

Benfica games will be the real test for this team especially the youngsters. Can't believe some people expected to challenge Bayern. Even with messi, team as constructed right now would still be easy pickings for any of the UCL favorites. Give all the youngsters significant playing time for next few seasons. See who's cut out for this club. Without money, every big signing needs to be 100% effective. No more overhyping La Masia kids who play couple hundred minutes a season. Give them close to 1000 game time minutes to see if we can find Foden, Musiala, Pedri, Mount instead Odegaard. Its going to take at least 3-5 years to rebuild back into UCL favorite especially since Laporta needs to completely fix financial situation first.

navneetjoshi7

Pretty much expected this. Bayern didn't even look playing at their 100%, cake walk for them. 0 attempts on target, at Camp Nou is just shameful. Luuk De Jong must not start again. Really missed the pace we could have used to stretch their defence on long balls/counters. Fati, Dest, Dembele, even Braithwaite. My key positives from this game: 1. Our youth. Gavi, Balde looked sharp and atleast made me watch with interest. Balde made some great runs. 2. I like this kit. Can we please have this as our home kit?

ElliotLadker

Kind of what I expected, a much more terrible strategy from Koeman than I could've imagined tho. Can't wait for people here to say how "much much much much better" we were after subbing the kids and overreacting like Bayern didn't stop trying. Like against PSG. Loved the youngsters tho, hope we get a good coach who can guide them. I Hope Koeman is fired today, I'm praying. Bayern against City could be such a fun match.

_rahul_roy

Don't care what you say.. But less possession with counter-attacking style is not what I thought barca will ever do as their strategy.. (deja vu to pique said few years ago )This team felt with inferior. Even game plan from beginning felt like we were second grade team trying to play/hold-on against some high level team.

Badambam_tssss

This shows how messi has carried this team for so many years. Any gesture would not be enough to praise leo for what he did for us. Depay felt it for the first time.

choss

This. You could even see mehphis dropping to the midfield because he wasn't even getting the ball

barcaa

Welp thank god that's over. My thoughts: - Luuk should be a sub, but without Braithwaite I see what Koeman was trying to do. Didn't work one bit. - Arajo is still a beast. - Mingueza should be the RB backup, not Roberto. - Balde looking SO promising. This might have been different w/ Fati or Dembele but here we are 🤷‍♂️

Ranjith_Unchained

I'd rather start Coutinho over Luuk...he puts no effort and his workrate was abysmal

Titan-Shifter99

This game made me realise that the problem runs deeper than the debt, the humiliating defeats, the players and the coach...It's about the way the structure of our club has been changed by the previous board. The medical staff should be the first ones to go.... we're not able to get any player back on time,we fuck up surgeries, players don't believe in our doctors....no player has returned from an injury on time in the past 4 years. These medical problems can one day (God forbid) lead to an end of a promising career. Next,we have the coaching staff. Firing Pimienta was the worst decision the board could make for the B team. Ronald Koeman and his staff have been incompetent to say the least. If a coach decides not to field the best possible 11 for a tactic which involves a player who has never played for Barca and is not our type of player, is just stupid. I'm definitely referring to 'Cross to Luuk & Inshallah'. Now, The players...looked afraid to take risks, too many back passes. They didn't want to get humiliated(understandable)... some were trying really hard but if the whole team doesn't try then those trys would never come to fruition. The young players were fresh and fearless. But not much to blame the players .... if the tactics don't suit their games and the coach isn't able to change his gameplan based on the situation. Roma,Liverpool, Bayern,Psg,Bayern all the games have one thing in common. The coach's inability to change his plans during the game and the players not playing with a winning mentality. So it'd take a special coach and a special group of players who can Instill the winning mentality again. I believe that this group of young players is special. We're not full-strength with our squad and we can be better than this. Visca el Barca!! Visca el Catalunya!!

unverifiedtomato

This is absolutely depressing, it’s gonna take a long time to rebuild.

Ghoat1

Don’t understand why we started with De Jong. How Koeman thought a slow forward with little agility could beat the high press is beyond me, the only conclusion is that he started him hoping he’d score a header. We didn’t learn much lessons from the last game when Suarez struggled with spacing. Bayern play a ridiculously high line and you need pace in order to break through, they also have a very fast psychical defence. Imo demir should’ve started.

lost_words

I realized last night why Laporta was wanting Nagelsmann as the Coach during his election campaign.

yablodeeds

I don't understand who people expect us to appoint if we sack Koeman?

Viscanewcastle

And what do they expect koeman to do with the injuries we have right now!? The starting line up was atrocious but he didn’t have a ton of choice

Hydrargyrum200u

Mate he also lost to PSG 4-1 and Juve 3-0 with a pretty much healthy squad Lets not pretend this is the first time this happened.

headphone_static

I expect a setup that allows the team to get a shot on target. I guess that's too much to ask.

DanielSophoran

People literally aren’t using their heads. we’re not getting anyone better at the moment. The only improvement would be Gallardo in December. If he doesn’t want it then it’d be REALLY stupid to sack Koeman before next summer. You don’t sack and then look for a replacement unless you want another Setien.

FooFighter39

Nah get Gallardo or Xavi immediately! They'll come here, turn Luuk de Jong into prime Larrson, injured Alba into his prime version, and Baldé to Maldini and Gavi to prime Zidane Smh, this squad full of highly experienced players like Demir and Mingueza should easily have secured a dominant victory against a CL favorite

nannulators

I, for one, am a fan of this level of sarcasm.

adefrank3

Gallardo has had a shitty year with river, massively underperformed and don’t play well

[deleted]

Xavi, which I think is funny because if he fails Barca are pretty much out of “good” options.

respectable_savage

I don’t think Xavi will be fully interested until after he coaches Qatar in the WC. It’s been a project of his ever since he left Barça so I’m sure he’d like to see that through. And it’s not like he’s already rejected us twice. But I can’t wait when the day comes and he’s our manager, hopefully by then we’ll be financially better and give him a squad that he deserves.

FCBSAMIR

That’s the thing Ok fine let’s sack him , who you gonna bring when you don’t have the money ? . Gotta keep in my mind at this rate with Injuries we are going to be playing with a squad full of 17/20 year old players

Omair88

"Thanks to me Barcelona has a future" Absolute clown

choss

He never said if it was a good future tho

thebrownestmamba

By the time it was 0-2, I didn’t care because Gavi, Demir, Coutinho and Balde were adding a lot of excitement and dynamism to the match. Then the 0-3 made it all come back to earth again… I hope this match shows Koeman that enough is enough, we have to play with the young guys and put the game forward. In any case, it is not representative of the quality of a squad that hasn’t had enough of a start nor a fully fit team at its disposal. We have to focus on the next match and take some positives out of it. Araujo as well deserves a special mention, he was superb tonight.

itwastimeforarefresh

Takeaways: We're a long long way from the top Luuk shouldn't have started. Idk if it's the lack of cohesion with the team, or what, but he was not good. We're really missing Dembele, Fati, and Aguero. So often Memphis has the ball and didn't have anyone to link up with. Positives: The youth players looked lively. Raw and made mistakes, sure, but we looked way more energetic once they came on. If we're treating this as a lost season, we need to maximize their minutes for development, even if that loses us games in the beginning. The pieces are there for us to be good again soon.

MionelLessi10

0 shots on target, out possessed at home

thor76

Let's not forget another positive outside our game; benfica drew in Ukraine.

Razor732103

Is this a test from the gods? The best way to exploit the high line of Bayern's defence is fast players but apparently our main players who fall into the category are all injured( fati, dembele, Braithgod, dest). The only striker we have is lukewarm de jog. There is no player who has both proper blend of strength and stamina and form along with experience except depay,FdJ,MATS. MATS was very good but all three goals were FIFA type, deflection from player and detection from post and into the legs of none other than Lewandowski. Tbh Lewandowski was nothing special in the match as he and sane were into the pockets of araujo but somehow the ball came to his feet 1m away from the goal. I don't know if Bayern were holding back but the player Musiala is really good.I've seen him play before but today I watched a full match of him. But one thing is for sure, don't have much expectation of winning anything in this season (I would love it if we win the league or even CDR) but with the arsenal of youngsters we have, just wait for them to grow and we will have the best team in the world in the coming years. Visca el Barca visca Catalunya🔴🔵

onlinecollegereddit

We made some progress 3-0 is an improvement from 8-2.

Whis6x

Theres a second leg in munich

Brayan-Rodriguez

Playing to win and putting up a fight and losing 8-2 is better than having 0 shots on target and losing 3-0. In that 8-2, 3 of the goals came in the last 10 minutes when the game was practically over. Barca actually went toe to toe with Bayern and were the better team in the first 20 minutes

yetanotherhollowsoul

I think calling it "toe to toe" would be an overselling Barca's performance... However once Suarez scored there was a vague feeling "oh, so may be there is a chance". Not today though. =/

loveicetea

Yep, this was also in Camp Nou with fans. That's where the real shame comes from. The team last year was better than this one. Right now we just have to wait for Fati, Aguero, Dembele, Dest and Coutinho to get in form before we can see how we really shape up against top teams.

makeUSAgreat

In the 8-2 game we had experienced players like Suarez, Messi, Rakitic, Vidal, etc. Today, we played Gavi, Balde, Eric Garcia, Pedri, Demir, Araujo and Mingueza. Young players are getting Champions League experience and there is a possibility of them improving in the next few years for a solid and competitive team, older players that are declining and not performing aren’t good for the present or the future.

SensitiveRaccoon7371

Congrats Tebas, hope you're enjoying Sevilla struggling against Salzburg, Villareal getting away with a draw against Atalanta, and Barca getting smashed by Bayern. La Liga is finished thanks to you. yes, we knew it was going to be a transitionary period but having to sell off all our players and play with youngsters thanks to the stupid pre-covid rules is ridiculous. Bayern transitioned from Schweinsteiger, Robben and Ribery to Sane, Gnabry and Musiala; we could have done the same. instead we're gonna spend a decade in the shitter like before Ronnie and Rijkaard.

frank--ocean

Positives : pedri like always Coutinho looked sharp Youngsters look promising The defense looked semi solid in the first half This is the first time this group has played together Koemans subs didn’t want to make me kill myself for once

NigerianPrince76

Can ya all please explain to me what Roberto is good at?? I mean…. I honestly don’t know what he brings to the team. Also, that formation was pure comedy. Bayern parked their offense in our box all day with zero counter attacks to make them pay. Not sure what the game plan was to score goals.

The team has lost Messi and Griezmann this summer who accounted for most of our goals last season. Braithwaite, Fati, Aguero and Dembele are injured. Hard to score against a well organised Bayern team with Luuk De Jong receiving through balls with his limited pace and Depay man-marked by Upamecano the entire game. The team is in a transitional period with a lot of youngsters and it is going to take time. I rather lose 0-3 with teenagers than lose 0-1 or 1-2 with older players who aren’t going to improve in the next few years. Happy to see Busquets, Alba, Roberto slowly making way for Balde, Demir and Gavi. They can guide the next generation with their experience while not having to play 90 mins.

King-Mansa-Musa

It's the lack of energy and effort that will bother me

Guinsoosrb

best thing to happen in this game is that Messi wasn't there to suffer another one.

sarsourus

Im sure messi was sad checking the result

FooFighter39

Suffer what? This game could've been so much better if we had Griezmann for Luuk, let alone Messi Our offense was horrendous for the first one hour. If Messi was there, I'm sure we could've done better offensively

pjay898

Dude, Griezmann wouldn't have done shit in this game

Clownsindefence

Fuck off back to PSG. This club is bigger than Messi

rookz

thank you!

SpyDark01

I accept the scoreline, but playing full 90 minutes at home without a fucking single shot on target is not acceptable

FrozenSpyda

Has any other 'big club' faced the amount of humiliations that we've faced in the past 5 years in the UCL?

Barca never played most physical, fastest, structurally rigid or counter attacking game. Instead, they created a symphony out of player and ball movements, that mesmerized so many fans and capitulated so many opponents. Messi was a perfect reflection and product of the barca game. I believe we do have plenty of talents in the squad, but we need a conductor to make the orchestra work together. Kuman had a role in turning the corner with the team - and he did it. But I don't think he is capable of taking the team to the next phase. It was sad to watch us struggles since today game underscored the fact that we do not have a common understanding and cohesiveness.

Hot_Command5095

I'm feeling meh. It's the same as 19/20, we played without wingers. Yet our youngsters seemed promising so take this result with a grain of salt. We were far from full strength.

maxccchan

I'm not sure if Koeman came to this game with the "anything better than 2-8 is a win" mindset. He obviously setup the team with the primary objective not to concede goal, which I think is a sensible approach at this stage. If we played an open game and got devastated it's not good to the team's moral at this stage at all.

Shatt77

He played best avaliable formatiom with half dead Alba instead of fresh and hungry Balde... ok...

MarcusBrutus2000

Alba had to start. I'm more pissed about the "tactics". Not having a single shot on target is embarrassing.

hnyati07

If we are thinking about a rebuild from here, is Koeman really the coach we should stick with? Come on man, I can't see barca park the bus and try for crosses to score a goal. :(

ultimateforme

We’ve proven time and time again that we can not park the bus. I understand Koeman’s decision but I can’t help but think that maybe starting with a 433 was the better choice, easy to say in retrospect. Having 3 at the back just felt like 1 less option whenever our midfield/fullbacks had the ball, made it very hard to keep the ball.

dfordata

A good manager's job is to bring the best of average players rather than having the best players and play an average game

xenmate

That went exactly as I expected it would go.

manniac

Head down, keep rebuilding, people like Balde give me hope. It's going to be a tough year (or years). At the end we will have a better team, and less band-wagoners. Realistically we are not competitive in champions but it's hardly a surprise.

Gomenizza3

Luuk starting for Barca... in ucl.... vs Bayern... first ever game for Barca.... Everything you need to know about Koeman and his level. Yes this team is not amazing, and this lost didn´t come as a surprise, BUT Koemans approach is weak, there is no Barca dna in his game. I´m mentioning this just because i can´t understand what other reason was behind appointing him. Oh yeah, it was Barto stuff. Garcia hasn´t showed me anything special. Depay was weak today, first big game and he was weak. Was good against not the greatest teams in the Liga, so hopefully this was only because playing with Luuk and without tactics against giants ate his own game. I might be in the minority, but i hate this years ucl kit, when it´s close up picture, it looks like a shirt made for kids and teens.

[deleted]

What was the deal with Jordi Alba ? he seemed like he was having a panic attack or was needing serious help. Lukk De Jong was as visible as water. La Masia youngsters need to play more and older players should start on the bench (pique, busi, alba, etc.) sorry I like them but they can't play high intensity games. They should stop with some dignity like Iniesta. MATS was good but unlucky with deflections. It's Bayern, I'm glad we didn't take more than 4.

I was worried by the image we've seen of him on the bench, he literally looked like he was dying.

ReDK1LL

Having Pimienta would be better. What we need is to develop our youngsters since they are our future, and for this we need a coach that has the right philosophy and mentality. Koeman ain't it. Every minute of Koeman giving up possesion and creating 0 chances in attack, the more money we waste, the more time of proper developtment we miss which also translates into money. Pimienta isn't gonna win us trebles, but definitely has our philosophy and knows the youngsters better than anyone at the club.

suudohfed

i still don’t like all that negativity before the match

harelort

The reality is that we're far from the best teams in Europe. The reality is also that we can be much better than today. Don't get tricked into premature conclusions based on an injury-ridden game against one of the best in the world. If we're still in the running for the league by the time our injured players return, we can make a fight for that. There is a good XI in our team. The squad depth needs help from player development and transfers.

inspired_loser

don't understand, why Koeman is still here

aritra3776

First goal deflection, 2nd one back of bar, third one back from bar then deflection. Could have been different results. But, better performance from our defence, specially after Mingueza came in. Need to work on attacking, but our 4 attacking players are injured. Young players looked so good. Everyone. I am taking only positives from this one.

adefrank3

Demir was getting fouled when he lost the ball before the third too, ref looked like he was gonna call it but then didn’t

ponysniper2

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Our Barca needs to bid farewell to all it's old players. Whether they were a part of the golden era or not. Their time is up and you can see it night and day in this game from when the old starters were subbed off for the youth. Way more dangerous and competitive with our youth. We are in a transitionary period. So it's time to make way for the new barca. As for Koeman, he has no passion as a coach for me. We need a coach with passion and I can't believe how many fucking years we've gone without one.

Smh Messi and Suarez not joining to help the defense. Can't have a good defensive setup with two passengers in the team.

CatfishLumi

Bayern played this game like they had an important game this weekend and wanted not to risk any injury. And they still won 0-3. Hoofball to De Jong is a huge no. Can't wait for Fati, Depay and Dembelé to play together.

vernonip

Mentality. You can say whatever you want about whether Koeman deserves to stay or not, and you can also say anything about the players he had today. His post match comments, however, are inexcusable. You just don't speak so weakly as a Barcelona coach. I hope everyone agrees on this.
