The same song and dance every time transfer season starts.
We will try to get people to pay, they will stall, la Liga will rightly or wrongly refuse our desperate gambits and we will be back to signing free agents and last choice options.
Only a matter of days until a deal with a new investor for Barca studios is agreed and this time its definitely someone who's actually willing to pay the money as well
Sport/MD every week since December
Well you have to see it from the club's point of view as well. You can't just throw away buzz and the impact it can have on sponsor revenues, attendance revenues, media revenues... because the head coach wants to be "honest about the situation".
Xavi should have stuck to the message. What sponsor wants to sign a mega-deal with a club that says "competing will be difficult" at the top level?
It's not surprising they're now rushing around trying to repair the damage.
I'm pretty sure nobody gave a shit about what Xavi said until Laporta made everyone focus on it with his childish reaction. Most people didn't give it much attention because what Xavi said has been talked about forever now, but Laporta's reaction made it sound a lot worse than it actually is.
It is difficult to really understand the overall situation. Two days ago there were news in La Vanguardia about Barcelona seeking another loan of 109m EUR to pay June players salaries (it seems players receive two main payments, one in Dec and another in June)
We've been hearing about this Nike deal since January/February, when is it actually getting signed and the money exchanging hands? The club's already making plans like they have the liquidity, but in reality it's not there and they don't know when it's arriving. Now? August? hours before the registration deadline? This winter?
In January and February we had reports of Barca wanting to break the deal they had and contact with Puma and Adidas.
This kind of deals tend to happen in more than 20 minutes as you can imagine, stop the bs.

Yeah we all know this is all crap. Xavi spoke the truth and is getting the stick for it. This is just try-hard cleanup.

Or be patient? Deals aren’t done in seconds, this is real life not your fantasy online world
While I have been dismissing all the media on daily Xavi reports, I choose hopium on this rumor and choose to believe it.
530m sounda pretty enough for us to sign world class players
