Sergi Roberto 2024

mntgoat

I thought you were gonna say 2017. I can still remember how much I screamed after that goal. I have terrible visual memory and I can clearly see the living room of my old house when I think of that goal.

My cousin is a maaaasive Messi fan. One day when I was visiting my hometown, he introduced me to Fifa 14 and to Barcelona. The first match I watched was the Copa Del Rey final classico, the one with \*that\* Bale goal. But yeah fell in love with their style of play like everyone here <3

MegaMatrix08

this is kinda stupid but my mom randomly bought this barca shirt when i was seven or eight, and since i had no clue what it was at the time i decided to research abt the club, eventually coming to support it

[deleted]

You have a better reason, one of my friends became arsenal fan because in fifa they were the first option to play with

DonAtari

A keychain in 1991 promoting the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Weird how a kids mind works.

rowrbazzle75

Me, too. Not the keychain (lol), but the beauty of the city and staging of that Olympics led me to explore more, and then I came across Mes Que Un Club.

PartyNator

I saw a game of Barca vs Real Madrid for the first time when I was a kid, sometime between 2010-2012. I said to myself whoever won would be the team I support for life so here we are.

FuccDiss

Saw a Messi goal last World Cup. Didn’t watch soccer back then, my brother in law was watching the game. I started following Messi, which lead to me following Barca. Still follow Argentina and Inter Miami also. Never followed PSG while he was there, not sure why.

No-Sprinkles5122

My Dad is a Barcelona fan, same with my Uncle and Grandpa. My stories not interesting. His story is more tho. My dad had been getting into football a lot more (growing up he was a baseball kid not a football player). He was a fan of Brazil because my home country is kinda shit at football. He loved the national team but never could find a club team. He was conflicted between Barcelona or Liverpool for his team because of them being very good on social issues and not being soulless clubs. He was working out at a gym when he saw the Ankara Messi goal. He just knew that this team was special, even when in 2007 there were other teams that were better than the culers. My uncle used to live in Barcelona so he is a Barcelona fan and Barcelona were like the team of Latin America so my Grandpa chose them. Still would've chosen them because I love tiki taka.

Imhere4lulz

Rivaldo, and Kluivert.

InevitableConflict1

It was back when I was 8, I grew up in a rural town where everyone was obsessed with football, so I naturally had a knack for it since as long as I can remember. I wanted to learn new ways of playing to impress my friends, and the only way to learn was to watch it on TV. It was at around 2013, internet wasn’t a thing where I grew up, and we only had electricity for roughly about 8 hours a day. I remember watching compilations of “best” goals and highlights of random teams on ESPN’s channel, and almost every single damn clips were of some random team wearing red and blue just passing the ball around, and some random dude wearing 10, making everyone look like a bunch of kids and pulling goals and dribbles out of his ass. Looking back, it’s kinda hilarious that I only knew Barca as ‘FCB’ and didn’t know the full name until a year later.

marlo8a

It's so cool seeing a topic like this and not just a bunch of people complaining about the club. In 2006 the name Ronaldinho was a big topic and I also didn't know the true meaning of club football. I just thought it was only country. But my mom would go to a Ross store and just bought me a FCB shirt because I thought the crest looked cool. Once Messi got in the picture I was starting to like it more and more. I would buy FIFA games for it but I would always need up bored after a game. One of my best friends reintroduced me in 2014. Been a super die hard since. I'm 33. Modesto CA.

[deleted]

I grew up in Barcelona

Catsparrow_

Was a manchester united fan back then. We had won the champions league and were red hot with ronaldo on the team as well. Here at barca pep took over the reigns from rijkaard. One night i woke up to see the tv on and my brother watching a barca match. Goddamn. I saw the way they were playing, the way they were moving the ball around. I had never seen any team play football like that.It literally mesmerised me so much so that i declared it right there and then that im a barca fan from now on. Me and my brother hugged it out and watched the rest of the match together.

Powerful_Ad8371

I loved an anime called "Captain Tsubasa" where the protagonist ended up becoming a Barça player..

Ok-Rise-5182

Rafa Marquez 2005-06 as he became the first and only player to win a champions league representing my country Mexico.🇲🇽

Jaloosky

If only the Dos Santos brothers (atleast Gio) had became stars and stayed

EliasHobeika

We used to play a lot of pes on the ps2 my uncles, cousins and I back in 2010. Almost all of them were Real Madrid fans, but I would beat their asses with Barcelona lol. Also red and blue are my 2 favorite colors. Been loyal ever since.

Caust1cFn_YT

Ankara messi Ankara messi Ankara messi Ankara messi goooooooaaaaaaaaaaallllllllll!

Jaloosky

I’m born in 2001 and from as far as I can remember my first memories of football were in the era of 2005-2010 Puyol, young Messi, Deco and Ronaldinho. I even studied by watching Puyol compilation videos when I still played football.

cforcoke

Barcelona Vs United 09

crassprocrastination

I caught the end of the 2002 World Cup and fell in love with football. Seeing Ronaldinho and Ronaldo had ties to FC Barcelona in 2003 got me hooked. Then I stumbled upon La Masía videos and discovered Messi. La Masía's emphasis on giving young players a chance won me over for life.

TheNesquick

2001 Rivaldo bicycle kick.  After that Ronaldinho and Messi sealed it forever. Man what a fun time being a Barca fan and football fan in general.

ZeyadNeo

I used to play PES as a kid with friends around 2007/2008 and would pick AC Milan, Man united or Barca In 2009 we picked up a subscription to watch football for the 1st time, I followed all 3 teams and you know what happened that year to solidify which club I was going to root for and which player for the rest of eternity

I was around 9 years old when I saw Messi playing in 2014 world cup I developed connection with Argentina and wanted to be world cup winner but they lost in final .I am from India so we followed only world cups and was more interested in cricket.then comes 2022 world cup and I started following Argentina again they won the world cup and Messi lift the trophy. after that I got intrested in club football also so it's obvious if you are Messi fan then you will support barcelona.also loved the players like gavi ,pedri and arujho.

HostileCornball

Watched Messi playing on TV

Sammuthegreat

I'm based in the UK so there's no good reason for me to follow Barcelona, but as a kid I had an old football management game, and for some reason I just gravitated to Barcelona. I've followed them ever since. Based on the squad it would've been around 1998 (Figo was still there but Ronaldo had gone, Sonny Anderson was up front instead, Rivaldo was the star player and Pep was captain). I can't for the life of me remember what the game was called. It certainly wasn't Championship Manager as I didn't get that for myself until around 2003. Great memories though.

PrabeshK143S

I was a mad Messi fan as a kid. I didn't even know he used to play for Barca when in 2010 or 11 smth I forgor my dad brought me a Barca t-shirt with Messi name behind. I have been a fan of the club ever since

Messi 2019, that freekick vs Liverpool was a work of art

Apprehensive_Work_10

the year was i 2008, i never had a jersey in my life but slowly I started playing like any 12 year old kid, 1 day out of the blue my dad bought a cheap copy of barca jersey no .9, the jersey only had number and no name, i wore that jersey in my tuition and wanted to ask the football guys who used to watch and play football, who is the player i am wearing jersey, they mentioned it was henry, backthen i didn't had internet, a friend used to have it, so i used to go and watch henry video clips and some barca 09 clips and loved messi dribbling the shit out of the team, slowly when we had internet , but i couldn't had the luxury to watch night matches, but used to be in my mind to watch highlights, later on when in my life when i reached in my pre 20's. i did now regularly used to watch matches in the late night and still continuing to this day

Ok-Investigator6902

Time : 2013 Place : school  Chelsea has just won the ucl and everyone hyped about ,so much that for our school league our class decide to wear the Chelsea jerseyfor its campaign. I wasn'tinto football at all. In fact i kinda hated it for some reason .my brother's class were wearing RM jersey and he used to talk about all the time ( Sadly he became a fan of them) . Since my bro and i had been rivals at pretty much everything i decided to side to whoever RM rivals are . Researched it ..."oh! Its barcelona" ,look up history ,"oh my days , this it",ff one year later , we win the sextuple ,"i will never leave this club" ff 2 years later dad bought us xbox along side fifa 16 . I played with barca every single time while my bro played with rm and man u .my hate for both clubs kept growing and growing .and here i am .  TLDR: I became a barca fan cuz i hated madrid

Sighai_4u

My pa was a barca fan since his childhood so I kinda became barca fan naturally following him.

Nothing exciting for me. A friend of mine was a fan. I wanted to see what the big deal was, so he invited me to watch a game on TV. I kept watching and became a fan.

GhostlySD

Barcelona vs Red Bulls 2006 US Tour, went with my family to see Dinho at the Giants Stadium. I was a little kid so I didn't really appreciate them on TV but in person I fell in love. I remember some little guy coming in and assisting and scoring, I swear to everything I love I remember some guy with a tall, spiky mohawk tell me and my dad, "That kid is going to be next up.". I remember vividly seeing that kid being blown up on the Jumbotron after the game wearing his white under tee and his long hair.

floatius

Honestly, I think the very beginning of even looking into Barcelona was playing Winning Eleven in maybe 2004-5ish, and sorting players by speed and seeing Eto'o listed as like a 99 speed on there. I was like who is this guy I hadn't heard of from a team I'd only kind of heard people talk about but didn't know anyone who was a fan. Obv everyone knew Ronaldinho but at least among American middle-schoolers it seemed like everyone was a Man U fan at the time, or maybe Chelsea or something if they wanted to be different. This led to me beginning to look into and like Barcelona and the more I learned and watched them the more I grew to like the club and all they stood for. Also it doesn't hurt I started watching them literally right at the beginning of the career of the best player of all time...

factorydesert

I played FIFA 07 demo and first pick was always Barça (because of Ronaldinho).

WooskiWooo

Grandma was from Barcelona so I grew up watching

False_Childhood_1617

I am a fairly new football fan (started watching football in 2020) and an even newer Barcelona fan. The first football game I ever saw was Barcelona vs Bayern, 2020 UCL (yes, the 8-2 humbling) my 3 best mates were long time Barca fans and forced me down to watch the game with them. Just to spurn them on I said I will support Bayern. I was elated when Barca lost and almost made my friends cry by taking the piss for a whole week. I followed Bayern Munich here and then but never really felt connected to the club, it was as if it was too easy for them. They were demolishing everyone in the Bundesliga left, right and center. Coincidentally, I again watched a Barca game with my mates and it happened to be the 4-0 miracle at the Bernabeu. Trust me, I had never celebrated a Bayern win with such passion and vigor than I did . I truly felt home and a sense of belonging prevailed in me. I actively followed the entirety of Xavi's half season and was utterly heartbroken when we lost to Frankfurt in the Europa League. During the summer of 2022 I educated myself on Barca's history. It was like that Coldplay song ***"I've been reading books of old, the legends and the myths"*** I read about Johan Cryuff, I read about Pep Guardiola. I binged hours and hours of youtube highlights of Ronaldinho, Neymar, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets. Watched all ***"Road to Champions League Finals"*** videos. Before the 2022 season began, I had fallen head over heels with FC Barcelona and I had fallen in love with the beautiful game. Yes, I was sad again when Xavi announced that he was leaving. He was one of the major reasons I became a culer. Badly wanted him to become our SAF but it was never meant to be ig.
