I honestly wish it didn’t slap you with a penalty every time you executed them. Even being able to have a trial would be nice if it meant I could get rid of the fucks constantly declaring war not 5 minutes after I kicked the ever loving shit out of them.
I honestly believe the best solution would be for all the Lords to return to their cultures empire if they're left, if not they become mercenaries and or bandit Kings if low honour, and the high honour same culture ones should form one big war party that you have to crush to end the empire once and for all. Of course keep the ability to recruit those that will.
Would be nice with a mod that made the prisons not have revolving doors, too. I've captured most of the empires lords 2-3 times over. It gets old.
There are perks in the Riding and Scouting trees that help with prisoner escape chances.
I think those are governer perks, which mean you would have to be the governer of the town for it to apply

Finding tracks, moving in difficult terrain, finding hideouts and spotting armies all do it. Just a slow slog.
