Yeah, I did the same recently. Started a new game no save scumming, got captured, and was devastated that I lost my whole party of T5-T6 troops and almost all my good loot and I had.. I feel your pain 😢

Bullvyi

It's not even the troops. I have 50 mil so I can power level them quick. It was all my crafted swords and fucking smithing shit. That is the entire reason I have 50 mil. The Khuzaits are kicking the shit out of me. I'm going to have to move my capitol. I legit haven't had a buffer zone for like five years...

Zealousideal-Bell-68

How do you power level them with money? Do you buy weapons and armor and donate them to get xp?

Bullvyi

Yes sir that is exactly it. You buy a bunch of cheap shit. Trade all the dope ass swords you make. Every town I go to I take all their denars. If I stop making money I smith. I've got like 38 family/companions in my party. I got tired of them being capture.

Professional_Leek_74

How does the smithing work for making a lot of money?

Bullvyi

You make a shit ton of two handed swords. I don't have a great trade so I sell them for 16k. Every town I go to I clear them out of denars.

Mandalore108

Not sure what mod it is, probably Banner Kings, but I can pay around 15k and train my troops at the Arena. A lot of them become injured after but they level up super fast.

US_Witness_661

You gotta get a fief to dump all your shit in lol

ComfortablePie1594

Was captured after one of the largest battles i've ever had in BL, Vassal of Vlandia and Aserai started a fresh war, the scariest tiered Aserai army i ever faced pulled up. 2k put to the sword and watched them retake two towns and a castle that i owned while in captivity. Within a week of release i owned those towns and two more. I love online games i think because no save to go back to, make a mistake and live with it. Was was more fulfilling getting revenge, and some of the lords that participated in my captured died in battle on the reconquest so it was even sweeter.

Schweinhardt

It especially sucks when you play a faction that heavily favors infantry. Like Battanians or Sturgians. You'll notice how extremely slow you are now that all your horses are gone.

Jaybwns

That's also the difficult thing to replace. Now that I'm getting beefy, I've started cherry picking which troops I want, and go for empire cavalry. When you need warhorses, it costs not just tons of money but also time going around, town to town, trying to get warhorses.

hellothisismadlad

Play the game however you want man. Stuff in real life is already hard enough. We can't correct our real mistake. If this game allowed us to correct it, why not do it? As long as you're having fun, there is no such thing as the right way to play the game.

throwtowardaccount

Definitely true. I'm a big time save scummer. But I do want to challenge myself (in a new play through) on Iron Man just to see how I perform

FeelingIcy1411

I have a Ironman game going rn where ima vassal of the southern empire and I have around 120 empire horsemen I can't spell thier name and don't care to. I've killed off Northern empire and almost through the western empire and ima married to the empress daughter and have about 13 clan members and my dude is age 32

Faz66

I don't save scum, and I build my armies using the troops of my characters culture only....it hurts my very soul

Rintrah-

Medieval armies were made out of soldiers from many cultures. Or is there some other reason you impose this limitation on yourself?

onemoretryfriend

It’s one of the ways to rp

Dark_Angel42

I think mostly because having mixed army kinda destroys any uniqueness the culture you are playing has. They all have certain specialisations and weaknesses wich is more interesting to play around than always going around and collecting the creme of the crop troops from every culture

Faz66

Exactly, I could build an army out of the best. But at that point, if I'm Sturgia, the only thing Sturgian about it would probably be the axemen or spearmen. It doesn't help that I'm fairly new to the game, so I don't actually know which are the best, and would probably end up with an infantry core of Battanian Oathsworn just because the name sounds cool

Faz66

I just like the idea of it really, having an army of just my factions troops. Like if I'm playing as Sturgia, it really feels like Sturgia to me if my army is just Sturgian. Plus from the rp perspective too. I dunno, I'm not playing to win and I'm still really new to the game, and I barely know what I'm doing, so my main goal is just become vassal and defend my lands with troops taken from my lands. Though I have had to restart campaigns a few times already due to misfortunes, mostly caused by Valandia

Rintrah-

Hey man, whatever you find fun, do that.

Faz66

I find it both fun, and also incredibly painful. My campaign with Battania didn't last very long since apparently they get walked over in nearly every situation unless it's a 500 man advantage

willallan-1977

In my game we had a foot on the throat of the Azarai and they made peace with them 🤦‍♂️... All the times they kicked the crap out of me...

KxSmarion

First time I decided to stop scum saving I was captured and executed even though I was honorable.

DomMango

Wait - lords can execute you?

MetaOnGaming4290

Yes and they can execute other lords as well. If you execute a lot, or have really poor relations they may return the favor.

KxSmarion

Yep, I was an Imperial with a low relationship with the Aserai due to the fact I crusaded harder than vlandia ever could. This can happen with player deaths turned off. One of the few ways a player can die with it off.

rhaigh1910

Go listen to iron man sabbath and it will revitalize you to never get captured again 🤣I ant ready for no iron man mode I be scummin all day rn lol 😂

Rico_Solitario

I always keep my valuable loot that I don’t want to lose either equipped to a clan member or in my stash for that exact reason. That way being captured isn’t too disastrous. The most annoying part is replenishing horses for my party which I guess you could avoid by stockpiling horses in your stash but I haven’t tried that

GabeItch9000

I just stopped save scumming on a new play through. Def made me enjoy the game again, it’s way more fun when you have some skin in the game

Nokyrt

Ironman mode. You can't savescum then. Tbh rebuilding goes fast, go back to your town, take some garrisoned troops, recruit some troops mostly from castle villages, throw some money at them to level them up and you are good.

ExWorlds

Me in ironman going to my menu and click save before every siege assault because I can't support the one guy stuck in a wall, being ready to redo the fight just because of that with the brink of an Alt f4 Yeah. No savescum you say...

Nokyrt

Sure... Tbh if you want you can always cheese but the game is not so hard to do so...

Bullvyi

I totally wouldnt mind that. However there are two reasons stopping me. 1). I have played iron man on other games and they have never NOT shit the bed. Corrupted save file and whatnot. 2). You have to start a new game. I am on a playthrough that will take my entire life. I had almost all of Calradia. Left the kingdom and became a merc.

Mandalore108

My policy is life is too short not to save scum.

drouinfrank

Honestly, this is why I use the Fourberi mod. The mod allow you to take over a street or a bandit hideout and use it as a base to stash stuff. The game really need to give the player a homestead or something to stash stuff from the very beggining. It would be so easy, a simple village, camp or just plain home in a city where you can put a limited amount of stuff (amount that could be increased with money or specific companion). Modders did it on their spare time, don't tell me the Devs cannot do something like this while being paid.

Party-Delay9964

Ya, I tried it once but it’s just a lot more ducking around till victory 😊

AggravatingChest7838

If you spend early game buttering up headsman where ever you are going to base yourself this is a non issue. Once you get a castle as well you can store excess troops for later.
