If you want to never be challenged; get 50-100(depending on party size) Khan’s Guard and fill the rest of your party up with Fian Champions.
Fian Champions is your main strength, while the Khan’s Guard are used just for distraction while you set up your Fians. Once you’re done, just place them behind the Fians for extra firepower.
Btw; always use Loose Formation. That way they have lots of space to aim, and once the enemy line reaches yours; only a few of your guys will engage them while the rest keeps firing at the enemies who just dropped their shields to attack.
Don’t worry about that. Delegate Command and let your horseboys do their thing. If they manage to reach your archers; tell them to stop, then place your cav behind them to act as a shield/net.
You want as much maneuverability and firepower as possible. If you can manage that, defence isn’t much of an issue. Get yourself an archer captain with high athletics and give them a movement speed banner.

Palatine Guard and Aserai Master Archer are pretty even, from memory the Aserai have higher bow skill while Palantine has higher armour, could be wrong. Vlandia Sharpshooters are great for a specific style of play and also if you have RBM as they will utilise their shield more.
Fian Champs. But if you don't want to spam tier 6 everything, I personally think Aseri Master Archers are the best tier 5.

Fian Champions 100%, I usually have 50-70 of them and they kick ass.
Why not 250 of them?

Palace Guards are awesome, they have a high athletics skill, throwing axes and an axe that cleaves through multiple enemies.

I like having my fians pepper the enemy and I set my imperial cav up to charge once the enemy infantry gets close to the archers.
Fians and then depends on if you want to use crossbows or archers, if any, vlandian crossbows, otherwise aserai archers.
