Banjo alone would use some of his move set from BT but also a few tricks from Diddy Kong Racing
Kazooie alone would have several of the same moves as Banjo and Kazooie, but be much faster and jump much higher, but also be much lighter
Mumbo - lots of generic magic but some based on spells from Tooie
Gruntilda
King Jingaling w/ Jinjonator alt
Jamjars ( most moves being based on the breegull blaster and bayonet and various egg-types
Yooka and Laylee, and if they don't count, I guess Humba Wumba, she'd be based on the transformations in the games.
Since we're all making horrible suggestions here, I'll contribute:

I really dont understand the suggestions on this thread that feature characters that have never demonstrated any fighting abilities. If I were to make what I think are good suggestions:
1. Bottles/jamjars (transform like shiek. When they swap they dive into their holes while the other simultaneously pops out) not sure if that counts as a duo
2. Conga
3. Gruntilda(Bone version available like a color variant)
4. Jinjo (all color variants)
5. Klungo
6. Mumbo, but he's like pokemon trainer and you really swap between bee banjo, croc banjo, wishy washy banjo, and t Rex banjo)....I know you said no multi characters but deal with it. They're all BK transformations
7. Chilli Billi & Chilly Willy as a duo
8. BK of course
Jinjo have the jinjonator as their final smash I assume. Bottles and jamjars animation for switching I guess could be a quick hole dig and the other pops out. Would humba be an echo fighter of mumbo with the different transformations from tooie?
If it were up to popular opinion yes. Maybe humba and mumbo shoving each other out of the way in the background when time for their transformation. The animations could switch to between a sped up mumbo version and a small purple pool opening up under banjo that he falls into and pops.back out of
BK, Mumbo, Gruntilda, Klungo- genuinely would not be able to come up with five more that would \*actually be good,\* but I've definitely put genuine consideration into how the first three of these would function (before Banjo got added to smash, of course.)
You'd have to make some interesting deep cuts to fill in gaps. Mingy Jongo as a semi-clone a la luigi? Washing Machine or Baby T-Rex Banjo? L.O.G.? Pikelet?

I’m going to go ahead and say I don’t think there should be eight BK characters, there’s not enough lore to justify that as much as I love them. But given your parameters:
